I used to have a long mirror in my room that I would draw from. It was really useful when wanted to draw a face upturned or curved downward. It also helped w/improving my anatomy structure and proportions.
As for actually drawing a person...I got lucky and caught my brother while he was zoning out into the TV. I didn't realize how much you don't move when you watch TV...he hardly moved for 10 minutes!
Here's the link!

Sorry...I haven't really gotten a hold of putting up links...I'll learn sometime... |

It's the only way to go buddy! When a picture is drawn based on a model, it captures a certain life essence. The picture looks more natural, more alive.

I LOVE photographs! They get life to sit still for me. I will use people for modeling, but usually for small things like hands and feet. I rarely turn to art for reference. I always feel horrible when I do. I wish I had the time to devote to drawing like Fallen. |

Photos really are a blessing aren't they? Still I don't think drawing fruit is very interesting... |

This was based on a CD cover but I changed it from the neck down :/
But I don't usually use guides or models, only on occasion :3 _________________ Cha Cha Chaaaa |

It's got all different colours in it Dx
Wasabi's a few months old, and based here in Australia.
Anyway, I'm semi-working on a model picture now... if I finish it I'll post it here. _________________ Cha Cha Chaaaa |

Yeah, I think Fallen wins for devotion to life drawing.... I do three hours from live models every Thursday at school, but there are extra three hour sessions you can pop in for every evening and weekends that I do not partake in very often because... well... I am a dangerous mix of busy and lazy.
This is just nude models, though. For character design class we have to go out and fill couple of pages with "caf drawings" of people going about their day every week.
However, as far as photos go, I am the REFERENCE QUEEN. I have a library of thousands upon thousands of screentshots from movies and video games, comic book scans, photos, and clipart that I've been amassing for years now. You want to know what the drainage gallery of a dam looks like? I've got reference. You want to know the ideal anatomy of a heavily muscled man? I've got reference. You want to see a new-born coelacanth? Reference for that, too. You want to know how to draw the butler from the Little Mermaid? I've even got that.
A lot of it came from scraping down the internet, but I've made a great deal of it myself. I've spent afternoons with my gamecube hooked up to iMovie to slice out screenshots, or watching animated movies frame by frame to cut out screenshots. I've even gone so far as to buy movies just for their reference potential.
I made about 63 screens of a single character from Rock & Rule just last week to use as reference for a head rotation project.
I suppose with this obsessive jpeg collecting habit of mine it's a good thing we get marked on our reference collecting abilities every now and then.... just so it looks like I'm doing something constuctive..... _________________

I actually had like 6 hours of model/anatomy-class a week on my previous art-school. On the one I'm attending right now I have 3 hours which is a shame, 'cause when you're studying animation techniques you need to know how to give your character the right proportions....
And I suck at anatomy.... |

Yeah I use a model pretty much most of the time cause I don't have the time to sit down and do a pic in one sitting. So I'll use a pic draw a little have to do something and then come back later and finish. |

I can only do life drawing when we actually have an interesting model. Static one who just sit there are useless for animators.
Speaking of which, here's what I accomplished in Life Drawing today! (also probably why I have a C in the course) _________________
