To Alycia: You know when I watch the show I really don't really think about what exactly One Piece is...anyone of the choices could be correct I think . . . .

I've been reading the One Piece manga found at:

http://groups.msn.com/OnePieceManga

http://groups.msn.com/OnePieceMangav-2/one...iecev2home.msnw

and I haven't really gotten that far into it yet, but I read somewhere that

*****Spoiler*****

Luffy meets Shanks later in the manga and was wondering if anyone knew what chapter that was in?

If anyone can provide this information...I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Why do I get the feeling that the treasure is going to be something lame like "teamwork" or "friendship"?

I don't like One Piecethat much, it's ok but the animation is all weird and there something about a guy who can strech his skin that doesn't seem right.

I didn't like it at first, but after seeing it several times its grown on me. I'm not really sure why I'm starting to like it, I haven't actually sat down and analized my thoughts on it yet. It seems like the story is interesting, its kind of funny which I really, really like, and I think I like that the characters are drawn in slightly different styles-some are very cartoonish, some more traditionally anime type. I also like the way the shots are set up, using lots of interesting perspectives for the fight scenes.
I don't go looking for it, but if its on I'll watch it.

Grr! grrrrrr.....Cartoon Network put One Piece on at 3:00 pm during the week...*sigh*...I'm still in school at that time...now what am I suppose to do? Oh well so much for having a regular schedule for watching anime...I was doing pretty good about not missing One Piece episodes too. Too bad Saturdays are always much to busy...wish it was on later at night. Grr!

Yay one piece love. Unfortunately I don't get to watch it very often. I love the manga though... even though I also only get to read that in the monthly Shonen Jump. <_< It makes me wish I had money.

Sanji is awesome. Him and Zolo are my favourites. I have the One Piece video game Very Happy yay for butt-kicking with Sanji.

I like Sanji's dub voice... it doesn't sound like anyone elses. I like it just for that.

HELLO!? Earth to Stef? Did you read my post about where I'm reading the manga at

http://groups.msn.com/OnePieceManga

http://groups.msn.com/OnePieceMangav-2/one...iecev2home.msnw

supposedly it's all there and for free! Didn't cost me a dime...I'm poor too...I think the chapters are complete, but at first they were a little hard to follow...the image quality isn't great, but that's why it's free.

I was sitting around last night watching One Piece with my boy (we were a little drunk at the time, and yes, I'm legal to do so)...and suddenly realized why I actually like the show:
Its INCREDIBLY stupid...but manages to be INCREDIBLY kicka## at the same time.
Thats when I had my epiphany: All of the stuff I like has a totally stupid premise, but is done in a way that manages to make it really, really cool somehow..shows like FLCL, Ranma 1/2, Urusei Yatsura, Sailor Marionette J, and all of the other ones I watch but can't think of right now....
So, I suppose thats why I like it.

I hear that alot...that people really hate dubs, but I have the hardest time trying to read what the characters are saying and the watching the actual animation at the time...so I prefer the dubbed to the orignal...not that it's flawless by any meaning of the word. The American version has been tailored and fashioned to be geared towards children and so many things have been cut out and changed that it's hardly a fragment of the orignal. I really wish the American One Piece hadn't been so heavily edited, but just like other things in life that don't quite measure up after a while you just learn to accept them. <_<

one piece dubbed, is really hated around here... but i was introduced to it here... Uneasy so i started watching it... but then, i started reading the manga, which had more details and violence in them... Surprised then i got stuck with the manga, but i still watch the dub so i get a clear picture about what's going to happen next, then i buy the manga of what i just watched... unless if it's still being published!!! Banghead 4 books every year.... scary... Sad oh well... Smile

Does anyone know where I can download the first couple of One Piece episodes w/out the use of bittorrent, but rather full blown episodes you can download. The only episode I really want to watch is episode 4 - "The Passing of the Hat." Whether the episodes are Japanese or English really doesn't matter. Thanks.

I hate to necromance old threads... but it needed to be done. Because One Piece is too awesome to not have a thread. And we talk about it too much in the thread about dubbing and such. Because it's true, One Piece is probably the worst dubbed show.

Well, reading the manga, I'm on chapter 372 now.

Franky called Sanji "eyebrows." <3

Wow, there actually was a thread. I was going to start a new one. It's a shame that One Piece got such a crap dub. And believe me, I'm not by any means a subbie purist, I like dubs. One Piece just got the shaft big time. So I watch fansubs and I read the manga. (I've watched up to episode 262 and manga chapter 408).
If all you have ever seen is the 4kids dub, I really recommend seeking out the fansubs or the manga.

One Piece is such a great story that continues to get better and better. It's true that it starts off on sort of an innocuous note, and the style of art is different (which IMO is a good thing, as opposed generic looking, cookie-cutter art). What really grabs my attention the most is the characters. You just can't help but find yourself immersed in their personal goals and dreams. And they're funny as heck.
Franky called Sanji "eyebrows."
He occasionally just calls Usopp "Nose" XD. Franky better join or I'll be bummed. I'm glad you found your way back to right chapter.

I think "Dartboard Eyebrow" is the best name for Sanji so far. xD Zoro said it, by the way.

Haha...I remember that vaguely. When did he say that? Usually he just calls him "dork cook" or "ero cook". And Sanji calls Zoro "Marimo" (a green sea algae). In fact, I don't think Zoro has ever once called Sanji by his real name in the manga. And other than one time indirectly, Robin has never called anybody by their names either, but it's out of formality.
