Question For Stratadrake

Are You saying I [b]CAN'T[/b] write in[u][i] red/italic/underline[/i][/u] (as in all of my writing and not just some words and letters), Or are you saying you just don't prefer it (because it annoys you)?

This is because it irritates people that your post in that font, by all means you can post that way, no one is going to stop you, but its prefered that you use it seldomly.

I can honestly say that I would skip over any post without reading should it be written in red underlined italics. I'm certain that most others would as well. It's your call how you wish to post.

It's not against the rules, but it's general manners to not over-format your posts. It's hard on the eyes, and, like Amy, I'd just skip over it without a second thought.

Generally, the normal font, devoid of any colors, italics, bolds and so forth, is what is preferred. Red is hard on the eyes, and the underlining and italics don't help as much either.

:huh: I thought that Strata DID delibrately tell you to stop posting in that font. It is preferred to write just like the rest of us.

I've already stated my position on this, and so has Strata. Both of us have told you that you should not post like that; it's rather aggravating. That's not to say it's a bannable offense, but it [i]is[/i] extremely annoying.

Powtaz is annoying, and he's been suspended for it before.

You don't want to be annoying.

So the answer? You [b]can[/b] do it; anyone [b]can[/b] do anything they want. They have the capacity for it, therefore they can. But that doesn't mean they [b]should[/b].

PS, I might not look it, but I can definitely issue warnings if need be. :mellow:

As many people have already pointed out, I'm not the only person who gets annoyed by over-use of formatting (particularly colors).

I guess you could say people infer a certain sense of arrogance from it (whether that was what you intended or not).

If we wanted people to be able to change the default color/style of their text, then there would already be an option for that in your user profile -- but you don't. ;)

One (good) general reason to not use a color as "default" for your posts is because it is not always compatible with multiple skins. We use the standard black-text-on-white type skin, but if we had, say, a white-text-on-dark-gray skin to accompany it (and let users switch between them at will), then you couldn't post in white-colored text (because it would show up only on the dark gray skin, it would be unreadable on the default skin), nor could you post in dark-gray colored text (because of vice versa).

And besides, a lot of people just don't have any color sense at all. Razz

lol! You guys are kinda sending mixed messages here... someone said that it's annoying to you red text and someone got suspended or whatever for being annoying... So I can use it without being banned, but I can be warned for it!? (which leads to a ban if I'm not mistaken)...

If you read my posts, I start out asking a simple question... it's not hostile, arrogant, and definatly doesn't infer that I am "better" then anyone (If I was better then anyone and/or everyone I wouldn't ask a general question!) Then I got kinda hostile because people are criticizing how I type! Then calling me Immature because I defended myself! It doesn't really bother me that someone called me immature, what does bother me is that I can't type how I want because people don't like the font color, underline, and italics...

Of course, I'll follow the rules, because it's not my site, I don't make the rules and probably never will. Just thought that I would say that I'm not here to impress people with my typing, I'm here to impress people with my art and to be impressed by others that share the same love for art as I do.

Well, I will stop writing in red/underline/italic font. Not because I want to, just because it's proper to show respect (even though It would have been a lot easier and could have saved a bunch of time and posts by just [b]ASKING[/b] if I could stop using that font!

Ooooo, look at me, I'm just running on and on... you guys and girls must be tired of reading by now! hehehe.

My appoligies for any time I wasted but I felt I needed to make a point!
