Personal pet peeve: Screen names that aren't names. As annoying as "_____sGurl" is, it's a hundred times better than those that are just a bunch of letters or description of themselves. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Love the rant! You have to submit this as a Fanart Central story. It'll be on my faves for sure Anyway, I wholeheartedly agree with EVERYTHING in your rant. It just about says what everyone sane at this site is thinking. It's a shame there's way too many 10 year olds at this site, I'd be nice to click on a pic without seing some really poorly drawn stuff <_< Not to name any names of course But to what I was going to say, if you want some really awefull and sadistically sh*tty stuff, go check out my profile. It's loaded with spam comments from those stupid 10 year old 24/7-PMS chicks you find on this site. Read all the comments, then check out their profiles and stuff to see how incredibly stupid they are It's great! (Oh, and if you have 20 minutes to spare read my profile, I love it )
Here's a personal pet peeve of mine, people who say really, really sh*tty pics (like some of mine XD) are increadibly good. They need a reality check, it's not that great... Of course if their just trying to not discourage the young kids they should give them constructive critisism instead of telling them their pics are great. It isn't fooling anyone... Oh, and those stupid comics that either make no sense or are REALLY stupid, yeah they aren't funny. So people should stop pretending it's funny. Not to name any names of course |

Too be truthful, I don't really agree with you. I think everyone just has their own way of seeing the world and seeing the things on this world. I don't really call anyones pictures "sh*tty bad, horrific" or anything, I'll just say "It's good, it could use some work but other than a few errors it's great" because really, it is great.
The way I see things is that everything is better than someone at something else. I don't critize your pictures, you shouldn't critize mine.
I agree with almost everyone here, too. It's just n8comics...... what does n8comics mean anyway? Is it nate comics? Or neight? Or what?! Erm..... heh.. Yeah, one of my friends screennames has gotten annoying, she never uses it anymore I think she even deleted it... but it used to be "ih8diswrld666" and it was just annoying...
But she changed it. I don't have any real weird screennames on my buddylist. Except for this girl who was my friend. We don't talk much though. Her screenname is "Joelsplaything" ( referring to Joel Madden from Good Charlotte... )
But I have my own annoyances. Every now and then I'll randomly scream "Bullethead"..... *cough*.... ermmm.......
but I do a lot of stupid/weird things.... *hugs* I love this rant.... |

n8comics means "Nate Comics." Since there's eight of us at who work together, yeah it kinda works I'd think it'd be self-explanatory but then again there'd be some idiot (no offence or anything ) who'd think n8 means neight...
But seriously, there's a few pictures that I come across that aren't terrific that people think is SO great and comment on it as if it's the greatest thing in the world. I know the artist is just young and starting out, but commenting as if it's like a professional work of art will just encourage them to do more... uh, non-terrific stuff. It's better to tell them it's a good try and explain to them what can be better so they'll IMPROVE rather than keep drawing the same stuff over and over again.
I myself don't flame bad art, I just say everything is good and tell them what's wrong. Even really popular artists and pictures have something wrong that can be pointed out. But then again not everyone agrees with me. I don't really care. Think what you want but my opinion is always better than yours
Have a nice day. |

Quite frankly, most people who have great pictures (popular or not) are already aware of their errors, and unless crits are asked for...they don't appreciate nitpicking. Not all, of course. I hate nitpickers, I really really do. Unless someone wants everything to be perfect, I don't see the purpose in pointing out tiny flaws. What good is it if the person is done with the piece? If it isn't a major flaw that could be repeated in their next work, why mention it?
Even worse, people who don't read the damn description before commenting. If it specifically says "I know I rushed the hair" ten comments of "The hair could use more work" are NOT needed. <_< _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

You can't blame someone for adding a nitpick in there, *pets a nit*, as sometimes, people just forget to read the discriptions. I do it on occasion. Even moreso, how do the reviewers KNOW if the artist is already aware of a flaw? Many don't say much in the discs anyway. I know I'd like to see that someone else took the time to examine my pic, and didn't just pass it off as "purdy", even if I already know that the thing needs work.
And I agree with BloodySunAngel on the critisizing thing: there are many many different standards for "good". I mean, I personally can't stand anime (don't flame me here), but I know that it's a very hard style to do, that it takes time to learn how to do it, and the people that can do it put a whole lot of love into their work. But that won't make me go out and buy posters of the stuff, no siree. So someone here who puts a lot of time and effort into a drawing, even if the form is off and they can't draw hands and just about everything is "wrong" with the pic, it's not TERRIBLE. They tried. Someone else might realize that it took effort to do, and be praising that. If someone hadn't encouraged me when I was little, I might not be able to muster a darned stick figure. I admit I'm not great, but I'm proud of what I do. And that's because someone gave me a kind comment or two when I was learning.

Yes, I have to agree with you on everything. Oh, I may not reply on the boards but I read them! Anyway, the only time I used slang (grl, gurl, boi, ect.) was when I first got the internet and started on forums and that was when I was ten. It probably doesn't make much of a difference since it is only a three year time period, but hey I learned a lot just by observing what most of the more higher ranked people did online. Sorry, I'm probably typing all this for no reason... oh well! |

Because, and perhaps I'm giving people too much credit, most awesome artists have the skills to spot mistakes, but often just don't feel like adjusting every tiny detail since there will always be something to fix. And nitpicks never carry over into drawing itself. Yeah, if the anatomy of the arm is wrong, mention that, but something that only applies to that picture if the person is done with it and doesn't ask for crits, I don't see the purpose in mentioning that. I'm not sayin' don't give awesome artists crits if they specifically ask for it to be torn apart or if there's some major flaw that could mess them up in other work. But saying a tiny detail isn't right is just being petty and annoying.
God, so many people who leave comments that I just want to (and do) tell to piss off. Not those that are helpful, but those that can't seem to open their mouths without saying something negative, as subjective or insignificant as it may be. Or those that hunt out the pictures they don't like instead of commenting on the ones they supposedly do.
Next person to leave a "I like ____ better than this one" comment gets to find out what a spike heel feels like somewhere they really don't want it...
Oh, and I blame nitpickers for everything. Including my proscrastination habits, financial situation, and mild psychotic behavior. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
The one thing that really gets me is when people add totally pointless descriptions to their pics.
Chalk me up for that peeve too. In fact, chalk me up for pointless titles to pictures, such as an especially those drawings titled "100th pic!" and the ilk.
And finally, the one-word replies to pics. We've all gotten them. "Cool" or "Neat" or "PIE!"
I bet if there was some Javascript to ensure that typed comments included a space, that this would catch some of the one-word comments... only some of them, of course....
Even worse, people who don't read the damn description before commenting.
Sometimes people don't read the description correctly. On one of my drawings, the description included the word "cameo", and someone thought I said "camo". That became the first, and so far only time I've ever put a comment on one of my own pictures, and only to clarify the point. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I didn't think this thread would get so vicious. I mean, it was some stupid rant, by the way "n8comics" I was just ranting about how people replace letters with numbers, and seeing your screenname makes me laugh.
I really don't care about your opinion, either. I can be cruel when I wanna but really everybody improves when it's not good and they don't improve when their not suppose, it's God's creation he should make the decisions.
So your opinion doesn't matter to me. Infact... I have a little saying... actually Kinky says it, but I'll use it:
"It's people like you that make me lose respect for this world."
BAM! In your face!.... uhm.... excuse that. I'm a little hyped up. Kinky's been stripping and he gave me some of his tips. ( I know it's dirty money but I don't care its cash. CHA-CHING! )
So people here if you want to rant on..... rant on.... |

Ah... complaining... sucha a sweet, sweet.... thing...
Kinky: I feel so sorry for you losers! Your stuck in hell, and run around the burning ground barefoot each day!
I feel sorry for you.... you make dirty money! DIRTY MONEY!
Kinky: *blinks* I kinda have to agree with Kate here. Complaining is better than shutting up.
You should be the expert on that. This thread was going well. But then KINKY showed up and-
Kinky: I AM KINKY! THE SEX SLAVE!!!!
O.O; umm.... I'm going to leave now...
Kinky: *mimicks guitar* |

Well, excuuuuuuuuse me! I didn't want to make anyone feel like an idiot, but sometimes I imply that too much. Well since it makes you laugh I'm cool with it Just don't hate me, I'm so self-conciencious of what everyone thinks of me that I want eveyone to like me! But I still think there's way too many over-commented (I don't know what you'd call it...) pics. Not that I'd actually say they suck, I comment like everyone else by saying, "Wow that's cool," or, "I really like this!" But just for help I'd add, "But you should watch your proportions, it's really uneven," or "Go back and line the pic again, it'll make it look a lot smoother which will really make this pic look grat!"
I really encourage you guys to say stuff like that, so people don't make the same mistake twice. It really pains me to see people comment on it as if it's really good and their next 5 or so pics in their gallery have the same mistakes. It's better to point them out sooner. As for those really good pics with a minor flaw, um yeah I guess I take that back. I know they do have minor flaws but I'm too damn lazy to take the time to point them out. I wouldn't do so anyway. It may just be a good thing to point out to the artist once in a while. Besides, nothing's better than perfect. |

Well, "n8comics", not everbody can like you. There's always someone you doesn't like you, no matter WHAT you do. And I don't see WHY you want to be liked by anyone. I don't really give a flying rats ass if anyone likes me or not. If they don't woohoo, if they do.... oops? All I know is the friends I have now are all I need.... I need food... and my new eyebrow piercing is making my eyebrow numb. Lol. X3 |
