Okay, not sure if this is really in the right section. It either goes here or in movies. WE'LL FIND OUT THEN, WON'T WE?
Anyway, for those fans who haven't heard, they're in the process of filming 2 live-action Death Note movies. They'll be Warner Bros. productions, and they'll be in Japanese. The first will be released in June, and the 2nd in October. There isn't much else on them yet, but the released cast so far is...
L will be played by Matsuyama Ken'ichi (who I oddly enough believe that, by his looks, can pull it off. I'm not familiar with him as an actor, though, so I can't say the same for how he can act as L. He is pretty hawt tho 8D)
Raito will be played by Fujiwara Tatsuya (seen this guy before, and I think he could pull off Raito in his acting. He doesn't look much like Raito to me, though. :/ )
Souichiro will be played by Kaga Takeshi
I... await more news on this. The official site for it is still in the "look at me! I'm a poster!" stage, so phoo. _________________ FAC |

It seems a bit early to be making a movie of the series so soon, doesn't it? =/ I mean, the series is on, only it's like, 3rd manga book ((Which I still need <<)), 4th at the greatest. Then again, the undubbed, original Japanese version probably as more out than us over here but.. :/
Meh, I'll definitely be checking up on this as time goes by. I love the plot for Deathnote XD |

I think it's at the 9-10th volume now. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

95 chapters
It's pretty far along. Almost to the point of drawling now, though. They should have cut it off after the Yotsuba arc. _________________ FAC |

Live action Death Note? No wai.
Hahaha, I'll have to see this when it comes out. Seeing real actors taking themselves too seriously is always fun (like Queen Beryl in Sailor Moon Live Action XD).
Bah, I don't know any of those actors... I adore Fujiwara-san's hair though. Maybe this will inspire me to start reading DN again... Heh, probably not though. It was getting interesting again, but I'm just plain lazy. |

Siriusly? Not for us here then =/ It says ((This is according to the second volume,)) a page in the back says the third volume just came out in January '06 for us here, which is why I was so surprised. |

Death Note is originally a Japanese manga series. For it to appear anywhere else, it first had to be licensed, translated, and then published. This usually doesn't happen until a series has been well established and there's a definite demand/interest for it. You're not reading the Japanese version in Japan, are you? ^_^ |

What Rindi said. :3 And they'll likely release it in Japan first, and probably wait a bit before they release it in America.
Though I hope they do hurry, because I'd much prefer to see it on the big screen than a pirated version on my computer screen. >>; _________________ FAC |

While that would be awesome, I don't really see it happening. Not that many anime-style movies make it to the big screen, and I've yet to see a live action adaptation from an anime make it over to the US, let alone show up in theaters... Although this Warner Bros. production thing has me interested... Got a link to the movie site?
Group field trip to Japan! Who's with me? |

The again, most of the live-action adaptations are pretty sh*tty, so that may be why. 8D Hope this turns out better.
I sadly lost the link to the movie page. It's still in development, though, so all it has is a very bland poster. :/ But I'll give it a search again.
And now I'm wondering...
How are they going to pull off Ryuk? :0 I know Japanese live-action isn't very well-known for it's live-action graphics, even today. So this I gotta see. xD
EDIT: Wow, what a blindlingly obvious URL: http://wwws.warnerbros.co.jp/deathnote/
:|
Like I said, it's still just a teaser at this point.
And I also looked up the bit on Ryuk, and he'll be done both CGI and animatronically. _________________ FAC |

I see what you mean... Lamest website ever. Oh well, guess it'll eventually have content added to it.
The thought of an animatronic Ryuk makes me weep... I hope the CG is better than what they used for Sailor Moon Live Action. 8D |

Wow, Deathnote Live Action?? One live action I am interested to see! XDD After seeing the Sailor Moon one, I was shocked! I have to see who plays Ryuk too! ^_^
I actually buy just the American ones, & I checked Borders... so I guess #4 hasn't come out yet?? Might buy the Japanese soon. |

Dunno about you, but I just bought vol. 4 yesterday at my local Borders. :/ So... it's here, anyway.
But I've already read up to the current chapter in Japan anyway, so... not like it matters to me. _________________ FAC |

Strangely, I don't think he could pull L.. I see this guy more as L.
By the way, I have no clue where the hell I got this picture from. =|
Edit: Well, might have been nice if I actually UPLOADED the picture, eh? 8D

Actually I can see Matsuyama Ken'ichi as L. The picture you posted is of a cosplayer, all done up in makeup costume, and posing in character. Get some make up on the actor and let his hair grow out a bit, and tell him to do his job and act... then I think he's be a damn good looking L _________________

Well, the movie site is finally up! Click! It still seems to be a bit under construction. Eh. I'm not really liking how Light's looking. D: But anyway, try watching the trailer in "Light's Room" (by clicking on the Note); it looks better in Flash than in media player.
And gawd, they seem to have an obsession with Ryuk's apples, wtf. D8 They weren't THAT important.
To settle the debate, you can see how L looks in the "About the movie" section. Personally, I think the cosplayer does look better. 8D But then, in the movie, they tried to just make them look like regular Japanese people, not like something from a comic (example; Misa has black hair, not blonde).
But anyway, der poster.
