I personally love my Prismacolor markers I got the 120 box for about $90 and I can't stop using them although I'll always be a shader at heart ^_^

I absolutely adore Prismacolor products! ^_^

I have a full set of 120 that I got for my birthday a couple of years ago along with the 12 new colors that Sanford just came out with. Although I use a couple other brands of colored pencils, I prefer to go with Prismas because they blend and burnish so easily. You can get some really neat effects with them! I have to restock up on grays, beiges, and blues just about every time I do a big project. xD

The only thing about the colored pencils is that they break easily. I've been notorious for pressing a bit too hard and breaking the soft leads. lol

As for the markers, I'm just starting out with them. From what I've expirenced with them though is that they blend very well and have a a nice smooth laydown. They work like heaven on Bristol board or smooth cardstock. *drools*

I'm having trouble with using the Colorless blender though. It seems that every time I use it, I get little whitish streaks in the area that I used it on. It hasn't really helped with blending two shades of a color either. I've been coloring a shaded area over with its lightest shade, but that just makes the area a bit too dark. I feel tht I haven't been using it properly. Do any of you have some suggestions on how to prevent these little streaks?

I also begun to use the Art Stix. They're really handy for laying down large areas of color. It certainly prevents me from killing the pencils of the same color! :)

I am quite dissapointed with Sanford due to the fact that they are removing all of the Deco colors from the set. Sad

( I use the burnishing technique with the colored pencils quite frequently and the Deco colors were just perfect for the job. I've been going around various art shops trying to stock up on them. *sighs* I guess I'll just have to use different colors to burnish with, I suppose.

They got rid of deco colors? LOL

I use a bit of deco's in pencil crayons, but never markers. Hopefully, they come out with rich darks that the color line was seriously lacking.

*sigh*....Brian, your art organization cabinet puts my art storage to shame...must be nice having everything easily accessible and convient...here I am surviving w/walmart and zipploc bags for art storage...I guess it's just a matter of whether I want to spend money on art supplies or a place to put it. <_<

I guess using makeup cases for art storage is always an option for women, but if a man tried it people might think him a little fruity :wub: or I might.

That's why god invented tackle boxes. Makeup cases in such masculine colors as army green and hunting vest orange.

Both are exactly what actual "art cases" are, just cheaper. My first semester supply kit came in an "art box", and looking at individual prices, it was $15.99 for something that cost $5.99 in the fishing section of a department store.

Yes, Sanford has discontinued the Deco and Neon colors as well as Steel.

They now have 12 new colors which include

beige Sienna
Chestnut
Chocolate
Ginger Root
Green Ochre
Kelp Green
Muted Turquoise
Pale Sage
Peach Beige
Powder Blue
Putty Beige
Sky Blue Light

As you can see, Sanford has extended the range of earth tones as well as blue.
Here is a good description of the new colors.

oh, I belong to that club, maybe I should post often.

and the new color line is sex, just what I want, more skin tones other than that depthless "light peach" and outright dirt browns.

green ochre and muted torquoise seems like good colors for adding to shades on skins.

powder blue? now they are making names up.

I did a survey few months ago, telling me to choose colors I want to use, and it includes most of the hues I chose, yay.

I love them but can only afford to occasionally buy a couple. I like the pencils best. I tried asking for a pack for my birthday, but I ended up getting cheap chalk pencils, which work too but its a pain when I want to do a dark picture (which is most of the time)

All you people that said you have a bunch you don't use, I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands. Wink

yeah i like prismacolor pencils n all but im pretty new at using em. id love someone forever if theyd makem e some kind of tutorial on how to use them Very Happy

I love their colored pencils, as it's more affordable (and makes more sense) to start off with a box set, then replace colors that are needed as I go. Before, when I was using Crayola, I had to keep buying 24-pack boxes just to get the peach color (which I used for flesh colors). Confused

The colorless blender is also my best friend, for when I want a really smooth look or something to blend my colors better.

I have the chalk pastels, but I don't use them much; I thought I was buying [i]oil[/i] pastels, which I like better (I like the smooth look).

Haven't used any of the markers yet, though I heard that those are great to use as well.

I absolutely adore prismacolors. Very Happy

Anyway, they did come out with a new line of pencils that are lightfast, so... Yeah.

I've been working with color pencils longer than markers, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I'd like to get my hands on some copics as well, but over in the states they're rather expensive, while in Asia you can get them for pretty cheap [from what I hear]. I'm working to get the cool gray set of prisma markers, becuase I just love working in grayscale.
