I sure do.

- After much trekking, and a seriously weakened team from all the wild pokmon and trainer battles (but no Absols), I FINALLY made it to Lilycove. So that's where they host the pokmon contests... I picked up the Pokblock Case, and must've spent an hour blending one berry after another. Also had some fun entering pokmon contests. Sceptile walked out of there with a Normal-rank ribbon for Coolness. And so THIS is where you find the RSE Move Deleter! Good to know.

- Totally flattened May (the rival) at Lilycove's store. I didn't even need to bring out Sceptile to use against her, I was hoping to use Rain Dance and then overpower a Blaziken with a grass-type.

Later, it started raining in eastern Hoenn (routes 120+121 I think). That was a pretty neat touch.

Also spotted a few Sableyes during trainer battles. W00t! Now I know where to look for 'em -- places like Granite Cave. After some more hunting in the area, I finally spotted a wild Absol! Tried to catch it, but Absol caught on fire thanks to Slugma's "Flame Body", and burned to death while I was tossing Pokballs. Shame, too... Slugma's "Yawn" is a helluva lot more reliable than Hypnosis or Sing.

Fortunately, as when hunting for Ralts, I ran into a second Absol not too long afterwards, and snagged him with little trouble. I swapped out his Razor Wind for teaching him the Strength HM (stronger, more PP, and no extra turn spent charging it up).

Then I checked out Mt. Pyre. Absol totally RULED the mausoleum -- Bite for the Shuppets, Strength for anything else.

My Linoone also learned a move called "Covet". Since he has three field moves (Secret Power and two HM's), that left only Tackle as an expendable move, so it was a sort of risk. Fortunately, Covet is an attack itself -- same power/type as Tackle, 40 PP (5 more than Tackle), plus a side effect of getting an item? Good trade. And Linoone looks absolutely cute performing the move (same visuals as Charm, pokmon bouncing right and left with pink hearts flying all over the place).

I explored the Safari Zone a few times, and caught a few wild pokmon. Too bad you don't get free bait like in the original (RBY) Safari Zone, but I managed to snag a Psyduck, Natu, Phanpy, and Wobbuffet (mostly GSC breeds WTF? ).

Mt. Pyre, when you're actually on the mountain itself (and not the mausoleum), also has excellent background music to it, equally good music as the ash-laden stretch near Fallarbor.

The Aqua Grunts up near the summit didn't cause any problems. The way they kept mentioning the "weak" Team Magma was entertaining. Seriously, is Emerald closer to Sapphire than Ruby? You fight Team Aqua several times, but so far Magma's shown up only once, at Mt. Chimney (where you fought all the way from the Grunts to the Magma Admin and Magma Leader). Interestingly, Archie pulled Team Aqua off the mountain without a fight.

But it certainly doesn't help that the old lady on Mt. Pyre gave me a dropped Team Magma badge... just what I need, an outright declaration of war against Team Aqua

The eastern half of Hoenn really impresses me. Six badges in tow, and I haven't even started surfing out on the open ocean (the eastern seaboard) yet.

Oh man, Poke'mon sure brings back memories. XD I still have a huge case of cards in my room somewhere. ^^ See, for awhile, I thought I had gotten over Poke'mon. Now, to start my short story, I need to explain that when my brother and I got the first Poke'mon games(He got Yellow and Red, I got Blue), he lost his first copy of Yellow. He had had it for a few months, and POOF! Gone. We looked all over the house for weeks and couldn't find it. Every now and then for a few years we would ferret around again for it. Well, since my brother had loved the game so much, Mom bought him another copy, and all was right with the world. (I still remember being jealous because Pikachu could follow him around all the time. X3) Then, one day, we're downstairs and my brother is trying to hook up our new N64. (It was the newest thing then. XD) I'm sitting in a chair, bored as hell, and my hands are stuck in the spaces between the arm and cushion of the chairs, feeling around like they always do. And then...I feel something. I realized it felt like a Gameboy game. I told Troy and I said that maybe it was our Wario game(I don't remember what it was called, but it was like Bomberman with Wario. We had lost that one for even longer @_@) I dug it out, BAM! Troy's old Yellow version. He let me keep it. XD So, after years of envying Pikachu, I finally had it. ^_^ Happy ending's rule in that case. ^O^

I still buy the latest games, and I recently started playing LeafGreen again. I only got past the first Gym, battery died, and so did my attention span. Then I got a DS and Nintendogs, and everything was, once again, right with the world. XD But I really do love the Poke'mon RPGs. After a few years of buying these games as soon as we could, my brother pointed out that he always got the hot colors(Yellow, Red, Gold, Ruby, FireRed) and I always got the cool colors(Blue, Silver, Crystal, Sapphire, LeafGreen). I thought it was an interesting point. ^^

Made a little more progress in Firered (i.e. beat Sabrina). Haunter caused some major damage to Saffron's Psychics with Shadow Punch, until one of the Psychics got lucky and hit him with a good Psybeam. I wasn't expecting Sabrina's Alakazam to take out my Charizard (highest level on my team) in only two hits with Psychic though... Jolteon's Bite ultimately saved the day.

But honestly, Emerald is a lot more fun. Stormed the Team Aqua base, but something felt weird... none of the grunts were complaining about having lost to me... and after stealing the sub from Slateport, Archie did hint at where their base was....

Aqua was expecting me to breeze through their hideout!

The nerve! <_<

But... the writing! W00t! You know something's up when one of the Aqua members notices you before you even get close to him... he was an Aqua Admin. I took him down, but Archie still took off in the sub, while the admin just gives you an open invitation to explore the high seas and search for them. Wow.

The eastern sea is quite a large area... wide open expanses of water broken up only by occasional rocks, small islands and shallows.... getting to Mossdeep was pretty easy, really.

And Mossdeep's Gym? If you hit the teleporters and switches right, then every trainer you fight is a double battle. Fitting, too, since the Gym has two leaders....

I felt like training some new pokmon, so I put some of my secondaries (like Absol) back into the PC for things like Numel, Natu, Aron, and the ex-Claw fossil (I forget the name).

It takes guts to Surf an open pokemon ocean with a fire+ground type as the leader in your party....

Natu I had caught at Lv.25, turns out they evolve at Lv.26, so I had a Fly-capable bird back in my team.

More exploring, a few rematches, snagged more water-types like Carvahna, Barboach, and Wailmer (though the Feebas are proving more elusive than a certain Pimpernel). And I FINALLY snagged a Seedot. Man, I ran into like 7 Ralts before finding one Seedot -- including one with Synchronize instead of Trace.

So, the battle against Mossdeep's Leader(s). Talk about explosive. Tate & Liza opened the battle up with Earthquake and Psychic (ow!) There go the weaker (approx. Lv.25) members of my team, leaving only Sceptile, Linoone, and my own Xatu to pick up the slack. Fortunately, three of the opponents (Solrock, Lunatone, and Claydoll) are part Rock, Sceptile bested them pretty much single-handedly with Leaf Blade, Leaf Blade, and, well... more Leaf Blade. But with no Normal attacks (I had Cut deleted to save space) the enemy Xatu outlasted her. Right down to the wire... and I got schooled.

So then, Round 2. I swapped out my Lairon for my Absol (with Shadow Ball). Sceptile took an early KO from the dreaded 'Psychic', Linoone almost Surfed the Solrock/Lunatone pairup to death, and Absol saved the day. Their special TM? "Calm Mind" - the Special equivalent to Brawly's "Bulk Up." As if it even helped them at all -- Psychics are weak to Ghosts, Ghost moves are physical in nature, and Absols just happen to be five-star physical attackers -- Absol took Xatu down in a single hit. My fossil pokmon (damn, I forget its name) learned Protect, and soaked up some major attacks (Solarbeam, Psychic, Flamethrower) with it.

And on the way out I see Team Magma readying to attack the Space Center... I knew it would happen after cleaing out the Gym.... will I end up fighting Maxie a third time? I've creamed him twice, yet by contrast haven't even laid a finger on Aqua's leader Archie....

Explored the oceans, saw the deep water around Sootopolis, the waterfall of Ever Grande, rode the ocean currents from Pacifidlog to Slateport, saw the locked Sky Pillar... what a world.

I started an Emerald game. I haven't really decided what I'd like my team to be like, though. Found a Ralts outta a fluke, but it had Trace instead of synchronize. I might have to go back and actually look for another one. D:

Not played as much Emerald, need to get back into it. Just stopped Groudon and the Kyogre from fighting by getting Rayquaza out of the sky pillar, now I'm just gonna start training before I take on Juan.

I explored the Shoal Caves today during the game's low-tide. Got enough Sea Salt to make a Shell Bell with (I already had the Shells), and... whoa, the bottom floors of the cavern are ice! My team was seriously worn down though by all the random encounters (not to mention raising a few new rookies on my team).

The one tag-team match in Mossdeep (me+Steven vs. Magma Admin Tabitha and Leader Maxie) was an awesome sight though. That makes the third time I've kicked Maxie's team, and... what about Archie?

Got the Dive TM though, and am preparing to explore the ocean. Dive is too dedicated a move for non-Water types, but the fact that it's a Water-version of Dig is pretty cool.

...Not that I've actually used it yet.

Too bad seeing Steven's pokmon alongside wasn't enough to register them in the Pokdex....

This reminds me of a strange incident when i was playing Pokemon Ruby while i was training my blaziken at the shoal cave back in the year 2004.I was walking around hoping to collect the salt during the low tide when i went into a random battle with a Spheal but this spheal was in an unsual colour and there was this sparkling tingling sound when it came into view.I already got a spheal so I made my Blaziken kill it.I didn't realise it was a shiny until a few months later when i went into the internet to check up on the pokemon database.Thats when i found there is such a special kind of Pokemon which is shiny in appearance which is very rare. I can't remember it too well since it happen a long time ago. What a waste but then again,it wasn't significant anyways.

Any pokmon breed (even legendaries! Surprised) can be shiny, but the odds of actually encountering one are very, very, rare. Wikipedia lists the probability at about 1/8192.

Shiny pokmon were first introduced in Gold/Silver, where you encountered a red ("shiny") Gyarados at the Lake of Rage.

I've put over 200 hours into GSC, FireRed, and Emerald, but have yet to see any shinies naturally occuring in the wild myself.

Put far too many hours into Emerald over the weekend. As I remembered, Wattson's Pokemon were much too powerful for me, although I absolutely refused to go out and train a ground type for this battle. Laughing So it took me several tries to beat him, but I did it. =D

My party currently consists of Gardevoir (31), Gyarados (31), Lairon (32), Combusken (31), Kadabra (32), and Sableye (31). Interestingly enough, my Combusken isn't as helpful as I thought it'd be; its speed is absolutely abysmal when compared to the rest of my Pokemon. D: Gyarados doesn't learn enough interesting moves to make it particularly special, and its special att/def stats have dropped quite a bit from the older games. D: I guess my hardest hitter would be Lairon, but he's a tad too slow for my tastes. :/

Currently trying to get a Feebas to add to my collection while I pass through that route. :3 It'll take a while, but I'm sure it'll be worth it...

The Torchic family is slow. It's kinda susprising, really, since the Cyndaquil/Charmander families were like the fastest of their starters.

I chose Treecko as my starter because it had the most appeal to me, I didn't want a Fire-type vulnerable to Flying or Psychic, and I don't go for Water-types.

Who knew that the Treecko family would be the fastest of the RSE starters? I re-started the game three more times and speedwise, it was Treecko > Mudkip > Torchic.

Another rarest thing that you can encounter in Ruby/Sapphire game is the Pokemon virus. No not Missingno or Dioxy. It's a real Pokemon virus which the game called Pokirus or Pokerus. Can't remember the name but it was something like that.Your pokemon could get it from battling a wild pokemon.Fortunately, the virus is practically harmless to your pokemon and the game itself.

The virus was in Gold/Silver as well. I remember catching it one time. Not sure exactly what it does, but I heard it improves the experience you get from battling for a short while.

But god I love it. X3 I end up using all my Carbos on Blaziken, but it's worth it, usually. Also, BlazikenxFire Blast = OTP. Though too bad you can only pump the PP of it up to 8.

I'll take hard hitting attacks over the speed of a Manetric. :<

I'm getting ready to Challenge the Elite Four. My party is Blaziken (55) Gardevoir (45) Gyarados (45) Breloom (40). Yeah, I only have Four pokemon that I've trained mainly. And such an imbalanced (type-wise) party..Dx

I'm probably gonna challenge them when Blaziken's at least level Sixty. :0

Its speed and that insane "electric Swift" was the cause of my troubles at Wattson. DX STAB. DX Kept killing everything. Even my Aron's massive defense couldn't help. And it was what I needed to rely on for its steel-type moves, too. But, alas, its lack of speed makes things a bit harder to bear. :|

Oh well, that's all in the past. :B I still haven't played any more (although I plan to in a moment) from when I posted earlier.

Something rather disappointing is Kadabra. Combination of an absurdly high special attack stat plus insane speed? Yes, please! But even though its stats are still massive in those department, the addition of a separate special defense stat for all Pokemon really dampens the effects. Gone are the days of OHKOing everything. Neutral My party feels a little depressing. I remember in the good ol' days, my Pokemon's levels would be at least 10 levels higher than the trainers' in the area I'd be passing through, but now it's barely past 5. D: Either I'm not doing enough work, or raising Pokemon has suddenly gotten harder...

And we must not discuss my abysmal Pokedex. 8D
Yeah, I only have Four pokemon that I've trained mainly. And such an imbalanced (type-wise) party..Dx
My party's like that, too. :B I just have a tendency to use whatever Pokemon I like at the moment. XD Not a single grass or electric type move to be seen... :0
I'm probably gonna challenge them when Blaziken's at least level Sixty. :0
I wouldn't bother; your party's probably good to go (assuming you have a hefty supply of Lemonades somewhere). Even then you might not need to heal very oftene. I've noticed that in the newer games, the E4 have gotten watered down like mad. :/ Back in R/B/Y, the E4 would have levels of up to 60, but now they're more around level 40-55. :/

Ah yes, good 'ol Pokemon. I remember the good 'ol days.

Unfortunetly, I was never the best planned out trainer, and would end up barely scrtching by the Elite Four with:

My first Pokemon, usualy about 5-10 levels higher than almost any of the Elite Four's

Four pokemon of the highest level pokemon I'd cought (No battle expirience[fodder])

One legendary pokemon, one level above what it was at when I caught it.

And somehow, I've beaten a game on every generation.

Aron's Special defense is rather low, and Steel provides no additional resistance to Electric.

That's because of the post-E4 extras (GSC Kanto, etc.). Remember that the only such extra in RBY was the dungeon by Cerulean with Mewtwo in it....
Its speed and that insane "electric Swift" was the cause of my troubles at Wattson.
I had a little trouble wth Shock Wave too, however it was usually his Manectric that finished me off. Not because of Shock Wave (I had Nincada, a part-ground type to absorb the blows with), but because he'd Howl + Quick Attack me to death.

Yes, but Wattson had an awful habit of just somehow sonicbooming my poor Aron to death. I usually used him to start off the battles. o_o; D:

Maybe the personality types are having a greater effect than I actually gave them credit for. :S

Or maybe I need to just choose a more well rounded party. XD But most Pokemon only have a relatively higher defence in one of the two, and Wattson made it clear that he could take advantage of the lower stat. DX Oh well. I think I mostly scraped by him by using my Combusken's Double Kick on anything that moved, then Sableye's Night Shade for the rest. Even though he was only at ~level 22, 22 HP in one hit was still a rather lot back then. :3 Hence why I also felt that Gyarados' Dragon Rage is indispensable in the early parts of the game. :3
but because he'd Howl + Quick Attack me to death.
That always OHKO'd my Kadabra. D: Quick Attack automatically ruins his speed advantage... :S
That's because of the post-E4 extras (GSC Kanto, etc.). Remember that the only such extra in RBY was the dungeon by Cerulean with Mewtwo in it....
Yet those games were still quite excellent in their time. No one really cared about the post E4 extras till the second gen came out. Which was really cool; I loved how you were given a whole other league to conquer. :3 But the more recent ones haven't been doing spectacularly, if you ask me. FR/LG? A little portion of storyline only worth doing so you can get the R/S/E Pokemon on to your game. :/

Raaaalts. Very Happy
Maybe the personality types are having a greater effect than I actually gave them credit for. :S
Pokmon trainers (Gym Leaders in particular) have actually gotten smarter about what move types they use in battle over the games. They have better movesets (you know how most Normal pokmon now learn at least one Dark-type technique like Pursuit? That's to take out the Ghosts), and actually take type advantages into account.

(Though I do remember Sonic Boom being quite annoying even back in RBY).

For example, back against Claire in GSC, I hardly ever saw her using her trademarked 'Dragonbreath' at all because she had other attacks (like Surf) which were more effective against my fighters. And I don't recall GSC's Falkner using Mud Slap against pretty much anything other than a Rock- or Fire- type.

So far I've defeated three of the Elite four with little trouble. The Dragon master on the other hand is giving me a wee problem. I'm sure with the right strategy I'll have no trouble, though.

The Elite Four have become pushovers. Though perhaps the dual-type thing in S/R/E works against them. :\

;_; I lost my Level 100 Kyogre. I got it in my Sapphire but I let my brother use it for Pokemon XD Gales of Darkness to heal Shadow Lugia to normal. We were renting the game and we returned it before I got my Pokemon back. ;_;The only thing left of it is his records and his paintings in the museum. Anyways, My Kyogre beat the Master Rank contests for Tough and Beauty. (Beauty was its speciality) My Skarmory beat the Master Rank cool contest. My Marshtomp beat the Master Rank cute contest. My Vileplume beat the Master Rank smart contest. They all got their paintings up at the museum and I got an extra trainer card star. But I am still not satisfied only because I miss my Kyogre, he had 11 ribbons is what I remembered.
