I'm preparing for a bits of prints I want to do at kinkos at 18x24 inches at 300 dpi and holy... the file is like 40 megabytes. It's taking 2 minutes to just save. :/ :0 other than that, is there anything I need to know in making jpg files suitable for printing?

Make a test image. I'm not sure about Kinkos' customer satisfaction policy, but they don't exactly have a good rep for quality or service.

So save a small version, 4x6 even, and print that first. Reason being monitor settings can make what you see on the screen drastically different than what comes out of the printer, and it's much easier on your wallet to realize this before your 18x24 comes out super dark.

I had dealt with them before Grr!

they didn't give me any instructions and told me to sit in front of a computer to print my stuff while I didn't know how to operate a mac (I use PC) and I also didn't know which printer was which, and I also didn't know how to log out and the computer was charging me 40 cents per mintue. :wacko:

All the people running the store ignored me when I asked them to tell me how to use them.

...Eventually, after sitting around for 20 minutes, this one nice Indian lady printed it off for me and charged me just on the printing ($1.75 for 8.5x11.5 inch), forgetting the 14+ dollars I wasted on that stupid computer being ignored by the other people who worked there.

Global Outsourcing rules. Grr!
