that right up there is reeeeeeeeeally annoying. also the one: anime is stupid (then your response): why do you think that? (and then they reply): becuase its gay.
Off topic, but people in the U.S. really use the word gay like that? If somebody said that in Sweden lets just say Id feel sorry for them (but not really, cause it would be a stupid thing to say).
I have the great luck to be living in Sweden. Manga is more popular here than anime at the moment, and the kiddie animes that are aired are recognized as kiddie shows, and the not kiddie shows are recognized as such (.hack//sign was even aired in Japanese with subtitles a good thing, since Swedish dub is always, without fail, a bad thing). I really dont watch any anime on TV, I buy mine.
But if somebody gives me the but isnt that kiddie stuff? line, I answer yes, some of it, but some is 15+ and even 18+ rated. End of conversation. Maybe you should give that a try next time? _________________

Most of my school doesn't even know what the hell anime is, but they'll take the idea that I like poke'mon if I talk about it, because it seems most known to the people in my schools from their little brothers and sisters, unless they watch thoses ultimate queer shows on disney.
But the people I talk anime to know what it is, some people don't like it. I'm just mad at some of these anime shows that you can't understand or that are just retarded. Like FLCL and Paranoid agent and all that. they're shows that seem to have just a random plot, and it's completely rediculous.
But the poke'mon and yu-gi-oh crap. I'd just label those and queer anime shows, because, dioy they're queer. I know an ex friend who loves seto from yu-gi-oh. If she still does, than she's and actuall retard, because she thinks she's touch and dresses punk/goth all the time. Anyways, yu-gi-oh just isn't right, they have that new series that doesn't even have yugi in it, but that little s**t was queer from the beginnning.
I feel off topic now. Some people I know hate it, and the people I actually know like it, well the ones that are graphic.
On maple story, some one shouted they hated anime, when the game it's self was technicaly anime, on how the characters were designed. How stupid is that? _________________ Wyat Fucking Earp! |

Why you little bitch.... <_< you copied my topic:
http://forum.fanart-central.net//index.php...showtopic=20483
Just kidding you know...no really I was just joking about the bitch part , but I've had my ranting about anime too and can understand about the undesirable reactions you can get when you mention you like anime. Actually I really like the idea of an anime club...I think I'd really get along well w/all those crazy anime fangirls...we could all just be crazy together and talk about how hot anime characters are *sigh swoon* Oh that would be the life. |

Don't ever listen to Medalmask, everybody including her knows that no one listens to her opinions. ^_^ I thought that Paranoia agent was an artsy anime, in line with Other Satoshi Kon's masterpiece such as Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |
I actually haven't watched any anime in a really long time.
Same here, really. For me, anime is more of a social thing. I can't even remember the last time I watched it alone.
Even more sad is that whenever I DO watch anime, I wind up MSTing it more than actually paying attention to it. :0 Yami no Matsuei was fun to do. Especially the dub, MY GOD HISOKA YOUR VOICE.
Anyway
I'm more of a manga person, and people tend not to be so assish about manga for some reason. That, and I don't read it that often in school. Because it always seems to attract attention. I read Maus in my French class once, nothing happened.

See, and here I was under the impression that people at private schools would have a better education, and therefore have better language skills.
America is horribly overshadowed by fangirls. I'm nervous to check out an anime club having it's first meeting at a new bookstore in the mall I live near because it could quite possibly be full of raging fangirls....
lol... just dress up as inuyasha and you'll get a cheap and easy lay ;)
anyway... i tendto be more of a manga "fan", the quality of the artwork in manga's overshadows that of most anime's... imo
but like here in britain.. i've never once had the "isn't that for kids" thrown at me... 80% of the people here have no f**king clue what anime is... and generaly the people who visit the manga sections in the bookstores seem to be in their early 20's around here

same here in Ontario, about 80 percent of adults here have no idea what anime is, but since it's foreign, it is guarded by the holy Canadian law and must not be made fun of. Violation can mean a polite warning letter from your local government. :0 _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

yeah.. the only problem with that being that the amount of "good" or even decent manga's on sale is very low...
but that's what makes internetzmy friend <3 |

We actually have so many Japanese immigrants around here; there's a lot of stores that specialize in Japanese (language) manga only. That makes me happy because there aren't many fanbrats in them.
We even have one of the famous BOOK-OFF outlets around here. They're so well known for their cheap manga (WTF $2 for practically new manga? $6 for a practically new art book? YES PLEASE) even the english speaking fanbrats have made their way in there even though they don't know any Japanese. The last time I was there, the tranquility was shattered by a 4-person party of loud-mouthed morons. (HAY I THINK THIS SAYS "TOUSHOUKAN" LMAO I CANT READ MUCH JAPANESE HEY LETS ASK THE LADY AT THE COUNTER TO READ IT FOR US HA HA HA LAWLZ 8D) ...they literally spoke like that, no joke. T_T I think I don't think anyone would have cared, but they were so damn loud... The atmosphere in the store went up a bunch of "tense" notches when they walked in. <<;
It's people like that that make me wish that anime went back to being a specialized interest and less widestream. I kinda know what the JTHM fans feel like now; their fandom's been horribly raped by fanbrats, too. _________________

I admit to probably being in one of those loud obnoxious groups. 8D We generally go into the manga section and do stuff like search for new porn manga (all types) to shove in our prudish friend's face and point and laugh as she writhes in mental pain from seeing a penis. And my friends will stay back and watch as I critique the art style in every single series I can get my hands on until I eventually get fed up and start bitching about how much I hate shoujo art and that whole "Doll Manga" s**t.
No, really, that doll stuff is pissing me off. What is WITH the Japanese and dolls? There's like ten gazillion manga about dolls. And if it's not about dolls, all the people look like dolls anyway. It can be gorgeous art, but they all have the same blank facial expression the whole damn time. Like Alichino. Eurgh.
Stupid Goth manga.

I read Alichino before it ever came to this side of the blue. :X I loved the art in it; how it was so detailed and everything. But that was before that style got popular. :0 Which was the only reason why TP licensed it. <<; Afterall, there can't be too many reasons in licensing an unfinished and never will be finished three volume manga series, is there? <<;
Well, would you guys go into a pure Japanese book store and do that? o_o; I mean, aside from the occasional, "shitsureishimashita, doite mo ii desu ka" when the clerks try to move past you (because the aisles are so damn narrow) it's actually silent in there. Absolute (because people are standing around reading the manga XD).
And you wouldn't need to search. 8B Usually book stores arrange stuff into large genres (like adult/shoujo/shounen/other/A5 manga/A4 manga/artbooks), and in those genres, they're divided by the publishers, then put into alphabetical order. In this particular store, they had the adult comics across from the Disney tapes, lmaoooo. I love that. XD
Of course, I always make a beeline for the A5 shelf. :B _________________

i really wish that we could go back to when hardly anyone knew what pokemon was. when anime was not really known of, and we who actually like anime and respect it for the deep story lines and beautiful art work could read or watch it in peace.
But unfortunatly we have people like fayore was talking about who spout crap as loud as they can in a book store and make themselves look like complete ass'.
i was in borders reading some full metal panic and this bunch of pre-teens came up and where all like "OMG look at those wierd comic books...they print them backwards isnt that wierd. hey hey look at this!! oh thats soooo cool (in a very sarcastic way)" it just gets annoying..but hey..i just ignore them. trying to argue with them is like trying to talk to a block of wood....it wastes your time and your not talking to anyone intelegent.
so yeah i just kinda let it slide off my back.
and hey Touzoku-joou....why did you throw that stab at me for talking like a NORMAL PERSON!!?..just cuz i go to a private school and have a 4.2 GPA doesnt mean im not like the rest of ya. <_<

GPA of 4.2 is impossible, under the assumption that an A=4.
Also, GPAs in grades < 11/12 is negligible. o.o; _________________
