So...I have some $ lying around and I want to buy a game, but I'm not sure. Do you guys have any recommendations? I have a GBA SP, GC, and a PS2
Heres the kind of games I like:
RPG (graphics must be good. And no lame, stuck-up characters like Tidus. He annoyed me so much that I didn't play FFX )
Hack-and-slash (like Legend of Zelda. Again, graphics must be good. Unless it's on GBA or something.)
Fighting games (like Tekken. Yeah. I'm thinking about Tekken 5. It was pretty fun playing it at the arcade.)
Sonic-style games
Puzzle-solving (again, like Legend of Zelda)
Platformers (I don't really get this genre. Can anyone explain?)
Or any others that you're playing nonstop cuz it's that good. Hey, this thread might help other people too to figure out what games to buy.
And how's Sly Cooper games, Ratchet & Clank, Nightmare before Christmas, SuikodenIV, Musashi, Sims2 for PS2? _________________ Left for FAC, Right for DA |

Need for Speed Most Wanted, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, Mercenaries, KH2, Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence, Tekken5 Dark Resurrection, Burnout Revenge?
Tell me what kind of game you really want and maybe I could look it up for you. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. But of a humble heart, the Lord wil not scorn, and from its abundance the mouth speaks.

I assume platformers are games which involve platforms, like the original Mario games or Donkey Kong Country on our good ol' SNES. Pretty much stuff that involves getting from point A to point B, I expect.
I've never played any of those games. ^^;
If you like hack and slash and rpgs, I advide trying some of the games from the Tales series. The two that you could probably easily get are Tales of Symphonia (GC) and Tales of Legendia (PS2). Can't say much about those games, though - I've never specifically played those ones; my experience with this series lies in Tales of Phantasia. I'm sure those are extremely enjoyable, too. :0
If you're interested in puzzle solving rpg/platformer, you could try Wild ARMs 3 or 4 (both PS2). I love those games. _________________

I've played Tales of Symphonia for a few minutes and watched my friend play it. Seemed cool and funny - and Lloyd isn't completely obnoxious.
I am so playing KH2. Like most other people, I'm dying until it comes out!
I've tried mercernaries once. It was hard to figure out and my person couldn't shoot! Some shooting games I like, mostly if someone experienced is teaming up with me. It makes me feel like I won't die. ;P
How about Shadow of the Colossus? It seems like a real strategy game, kinda reminds me of Ico. I want to play that, but I want to hear more about it.
And Metal Gear Solid. Graphics great, but a bit too bloody for me. The farthest I can get into bloody is Devil May Cry 3 (which I still haven't finished! Dang hard game... <_< ) _________________ Left for FAC, Right for DA |

GOD OF WAR!
not really new, but oh so great.
It has some minor puzzles, and you get to beat the crap out of mythological creatures. okay story line too... _________________ My candle burns at both ends;

How about Black and White 2 for PC. It's a fun game where you get to be god. It's quite the little addiction.
I also like Dungeon Siege 2 for PC. It's actually a pretty fun game in single player mode and is good for time away from MMORPG's. It's just a dungeon crawler game, but also kind of addicting if you get into it. ^_^ |

The games I have been playing latelyare: Dragon Ball Z Boudaki 3, Phantom Brave, Atlier Iris, and Grandia II. I would recomend them.
EDIT: Oh, and for the GBA- Rivera. It's a good RPG with a unique fighting system in it. It's pretty fun, I like it. _________________ "You can quote me on that." - Gray |

Actualy, if you play the game perfectly, there should be no blood whatsoever, as the enemy should not know you exist. _________________
If you like fighting games, then how about Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the GBA? I've never played it on that format, but the little review in the directory of top 50 games for the GBA was good. I read it in a Nintendo magazine.
Otherwise, Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. I know sporting wasn't on your list, but this game is awesome! It can be addictive.
Yeah, Street Fighter sounds good. I still remember playing it on the computer about 4 years ago...sigh...
Sports games, not bad, but I like the soccer, baseball, and basketball games of Mario (don't have any, but played a demo at the store). Frustrates me when I lose and so I continue to play!!! XP
Actualy, if you play the game perfectly, there should be no blood whatsoever, as the enemy should not know you exist.
Perfect is impossible for me. I can't even finish Mario games!!!

Nope, can't play PC games. It'd crash my comp

Nope, no more M games for me. I've seen those two reviewed on G4 and they look great, but...one has a rather nude scene and I'm not THAT into bloodying up my screen.
...Man I'm picky. _________________ Left for FAC, Right for DA |

Phantom Brave and Atelier Iris, seconded. NIS. I'd add Disgaea, too, but that one's rare and quite expensive on eBay... So how about Makai Kingdom? :X _________________

There's actually a copy of Disgaea at my EB Games store.

Goddamn. I've seen that game once at an EB, and when I went back to buy it (I didn't have any money at the time) it was already gone. T_T _________________

That's wierd, when I bought .hack/MUTATION from my local Game the guy behind the counter was trying to tell me all about it. There's been a copy sitting there for like, months now. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

I don't like .hack...something about it didn't appeal to me. Definite second to Disgaea and Makai Kingdom (poor Fayore )...oh, and Tales of Symphonia, too. Tales of Symphonia is unabashedly awesome.
The Suikoden, Grandia, Tales, and Nippon Ichi (includes Rhapsody, La Pucelle, Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom, and Disgaea 2, which isn't out yet) series are all pretty dependably good. The one exception is Suikoden 4, which is HORRIBLE in my opinion... >.< Suikoden 5, which is coming out soon, looks like it might be better, though. Oh yes, and Shadow Hearts: Covenant is really good too. It's hysterical to watch and loads of fun to play. And the new one comes out at the end of March. (There are previous Shadow Hearts games, I know, but I haven't played them, so...can't recommend them or not.)
The best pure RPGs, in my opinion, are the Tales games, Final Fantasy 6, and Suikoden 2. The best tactical RPGs, also in my opinion, are the Nippon Ichi games and Final Fantasy Tactics.
Since basically all I ever play are RPGs (except for the rare fighting game, like Soul Calibur or Evil Zone, which I just bought ^.^) that's all I can really say...hope I helped, or at least did not substantially confuse, you. _________________ Disgaea's Overlords Dance in Worlds Beyond Infinity while Mifuyus Magical Multiplying Mole reads the epic Chronicles of Yord, and you learn that your Craving for Finding a Heart of Snow is Taboo in VG unless you dare undertake The Combine of Sin... |

I just don't like Bandai. The quality of the games they make just aren't good.
Final Fantasy Tactics is a great game, defnitely a recommendation, but it's hard as hell if your tactics are limited to hacking and slashing people up on Dynasty Warriors or other similar methods of death. You also need to be good on timing. That one's a real biggie, and you can basically just end up hurting your team mates if you're not careful.
I'm stuck at Gorgorland (sp?) Execution Site.

Too bad it'll never be licensed in English. DX
lmao, Disgaea II. I know it'll be released soon (JP), Looks awesome. I wish I could try out the first one, though.
