I don't find too many movies scary really. I've grown up on horror movies so they are in my blood. My all time favorite horror movie (series) is Nightmare on Elm Street. I'm a Freddy fangirl. hah.
The 2 movies that actually kind of scared me as a child were The Omen and Prom Night. Nowadays, I know Prom Night is a really cheesy movie but when I was 4/5 the final scene with the head chopping off was kind of disturbing. Same thing with the Omen really but it was the scene with the woman hanging herself that creeped me out.
I don't find horror movies horrifying, but I love them to bits. |

Scary Movie reference FTW!
Only films that used to keep me up were Ring (the original one) and Halloween. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

The following are films I seen when I was young, around 6 or so, and I was very, very scared of them:
Stephen King's IT
Child's Play
Sleeping Beauty
The last may not seem like a horror film, but I stick by my opinion 100% - Maleficent is the most terrifying character in cinema history.
Just listen. Spine-chilling. |

I haven't really seen a movie that has scared the metaphorical or the literal s**t out of me, I find that really sad. But I have seen like one or two movies that were suspenseful and kept me like cautious for like three hours after I would see the movie.
The Sixth Sense-the music does it for me. Its not so much the ghosts as it is the music. It just sets the mood for a scare so perfectly that my body tenses up whenever I hear those violins.
The Shining-I read the book when I saw this movie and found the first version so much scarier than the book but even still, I didn't like piss my pants durring the twin scene. A lot of parts I was scared of were major book references and even now people don't understand why I jump durring certain scenes. But still, I remember having to check all bathtubs in my house right after I saw this movie so I guess it did have like a fear-effect on me.
Fight Club-Don't laugh! I just don't like blood in such heavy doses. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

I know. It just really made the tension almost unbearable for me...It wasn't the images that did me in, it was definetely the music. That's how it should be.
I'm not a really scary movie fan...I am a chicken and am quite prone to being scared easily by movies. Pathetic, isn't it?
Anyhoo...I thought that IT had it's moments when it scared me (I'm not a fan of clowns, anyway)...but I have to say there was one part of The Grudge that really freaked me out and that was when she pops out under the girl's bedcovers and that freaky croak thing.
I didn't find Nightmare on Elmstreet and Halloween really that scary. The slasher movies don't strike me like dah monster movies. _________________ What does it all MEAN? |

I don't find those slasher movies scary either. Its like, everyone is going to die anyway so there's no suspense. No like questions or unexpected moments. Just some killer who's killing people for no apparent reason other than the fact that killing hapless teenagers is a blast. They're just too predictable for my taste.
And Megan, I just noticed the Collateral quote in your sig. You're now my hero. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Exactly. In fact, when I watch slasher movies with my friend, we make bets with candy and money about where everyone will die. It's a blast.
I usually lose.

That actually does sound really fun. There are like even rules on how to tell who/when/where a teen is going to die in a slasher film. I used to know like almost all of them but the only ones I can remember now are these two rules:
The slut always dies, virgin is the sole survior or the last one to die
Laws of physic do not apply to slasher movies. Remember that no matter how fast you run, the killer who walks with the same pace of a zombie will catch up some how _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

When I was younger, Stephen King's It scared the holy begesius out of me and when I watch it now, it seems so cheesy. Two movies that really do it for me now though are Nightmare on Elm Street and the Ring. I didn't sleep for a week after either one. With Nightmare, I kept having this irrational fear that Freddy was going to get me while I slept and with the Ring, I had to convice myself that if the curse really did kill people after 7 days, that there would be a whole bunch of dead japanese people |

IT wasn't that scary when I first saw it, but it just reminded me of watching "Clown House" when I was like 6 years old, that really gave me nightmares. _________________

Betting is always great. Try it sometime. :)
Hmmm...I think the rules with monster movies are this:
The black guy is the first to die, the handsome guy and hot chick survive.
The monster always comes back (wait, that applies to both, doesn't it?).
There's more but I can't think of them :(
The only movie I remember seeing where the black guy didn't die was The Cave, and that was such a lame movie.
I lost twenty gummie bears in the bet with muh buddie. _________________ What does it all MEAN? |
