I was listening to Slayer's "God Send Death"(I don't agree with it, whoever kills isn't God) and I heard an awesome solo. Very fast and using tons of distortion. I know that the bands with famous solos include Guns N' Roses, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zepplin. All I want is to know which solos you think are completely awesome. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

Several by Randy Rhoads, "Mr. Crowley" usually gets the mention.
C.C. DeVille's solo in "Life Goes On" is one of the best ballad solos ever, even admitted as such by people who can't stand the little crackhead or his sloppy playing.
Always liked Slash's solos. Can't really think of a favorite. Same goes for Led Zep stuff. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I like Kurt Cobain's solos, but Jimi Hendrix was the best. When he performed live, the entire SONG was a solo(listen to Live At Woodstock). Slash is an awesome guitarist, and his own unique style is hard to mimic. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

I've never been a Hendrix fan. He was obviously talented and had a ton of impact on music, just not my cup of tea. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

You gotta give the guy credit. He inspired most of todays rockers, and older ones too. Dave Matthews does a lot of covers of Jimi and Red Hot Chili Peppers did a cover of "Fire". The songs that have no vocals are "Villinova Junction" and "The Star Spangled Banner". By the way, do you know how to get feedback on an amplifier? No one I know knows.......... _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

Get close to the amp and turn it way up. If you want the technical explanation:
"position the player in close proximity to their amplifier and turn it up to 11. The sound from the amp is loud enough to enter the guitar and gets amplified again, exiting the amp's speakers and causing a feedback loop." _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Thank you. I'll do that while my parents are at Wal-Mart. Jimi's stunts are pretty cool too. He gave us the idea to set your guitar on fire(assuming you have another handy) and smashing it onstage, throwing the flaming peices into the crowd......... God bless America. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

YOU ROCK. Rage has some of the coolest solos I have ever heard. Morello uses so many effects, it's hard to tab the songs correctly(there are some people who think "Guerrilla Radio" is just 4 different notes). And Timmy C. is an awesome bassist. "Calm Like A Bomb" has an awesome intro and "Wake Up" has kick ass verses, choruses, and outro. I was waitin for someone to say it before me....... _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

How did this topic die? Man I guess I shoulden't have taken a week long break from F.A.C. Jimmy Page, Randy Rhoads, Jimmy Hendrix, Slash, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Tony Iommi are some of my favorite guitarists and they all have some bad ass solos. I really can't say I have a favorite, they're all spectacular. I could go on for hours about songs, guitars, and solos but I have to wait for someone else to reply and help me to carry on the conversation. Guitar Fans, lets keep this thread alive!
**Note** I just now noticed that the last post to this was in May! Sorry But still help me carry on this thread. |

May not be the most difficult or most memorable, but Eddie's solo from And The Cradle Will Rock is way up on my list. "Have you seen Junior's grades...." _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
