But what would you say if I...drew an anatomically correct neopet?

Seeing as how they are fictional, you would not know what an anatomicly correct neopet would look like, making said task impossible.

Hey, one of the second year animation students in my school drew a skeleton for the flour sack he had to animate jumping around. If you can make a flour sack anatomically correct, you can make anything anatomically correct.

Flour sacks are real things, they exist, therefore, they have a correct anatomy. Dragons or any other mythological beasts, on the other hand, can be drawn with any proportion you like, there isn't a right way to draw them because they are not real. OWNED.

You can draw a flour sack that looks like a a flour sack, but you can also draw a flour sack that looks like it has structure designed for locomotion without making it look like a piece of burlap wrapped around a little skeleton. And THAT takes skill.

And making a neopet anatomically correct...... THAT takes imagination.

I generally don't mind if an animal character is shown "anatomically correct". Animal nudity just doesn't carry the same social shock as human nudity.

So as long as the creature isn't, shall we say, "overly endowed", I don't mind. After all, if it eats and drinks, it's got to go potty somewhere and somehow.

I think that Vinsfeld is refering more to the cartoonish /realism than to the shown parts Rolling eyes

Yeah, that's what I thought it sounded like too...

I dunno... I don't thinnk it would take much imagination to give most neopents realistic anatomy. There are a few that come completely out of left field but most look enough like existing animals that with a basic knowledge of animal anatomy it couldn't be too hard too structure them.

Two minute Neo-dealie! I fail at drawing on the computer! Very Happy

Er... wasn't meant to be cute or make you care... I just pulled a random neopet off their website and structured it to show it wouldn't be hard.

I believe I was once told that the forelimbs of every bird and mammal on earth have the same skeletal structure fundamentally, so going by that you just alter the proportions and the way it's mounted on the body and you get insta-structure.

I agree. Once you understand basic structure, it's not overly difficult to draw animals and such...

 And just for the record, fantasy creatures generally do have some sort of linear structure associated with them. You could draw a blob and call it a dragon, but just because it's an imaginary creature doesn't mean that you can get way with doing whatever you want to it. Labelling something as such doesn't automatically make it so. As soon as you change the structure beyond what the creature is generally envisioned as, you get an entirely new creature. :B

Don't do that s**t, Dewroo. I'd give you a warning for that but I just woke up.

And yeah, of course you can make something imaginary have an anatomy 'cause the anatomy would be imaginary, too, making failure impossible. How can you tell someone that it's wrong if it doesn't exist? Like Squid did, she took reference from an already existing animal which it may look like but for all we know, if it were to be made realy, the thing could have an exo-skeleton.. and one single large bone. For it's penis. That'd embarrase scientologists everywhere... anyway.. yea.. I'm tired so I'll stop talking now.
