I've always heard from other people that I used extremely strong colors... tightly saturated. I didn't understand why what I thought was reasonable was a bit too much for other viewers, until I got contacts a week ago.
I tried wearing glasses again (I swim weekly in phys. ed class) and almost everything I saw completly lost contrast, imagine you're playing around with photoshop, and you lower the contrast by 30, that was how much difference there was.
If you are wearing glasses right now, you should consider how it affects your ability to use colors, it's probably not as significant as I was, but it's still something to consider. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Part of it is the material used for the glasses; plastic has a tendency to yellow things and lower contrast a little. I doubt actual glass is used often because if it shatters... :/
However, you have to realize that beyond that, it puts your eyesight on the same level as everyone else's, which suggests that your eyesight was much different from the norm to begin with.
As for me, I don't have that issue because I don't wear glasses in enclosed environments. I only need it when I go out, whether it be school or shopping, because in those cases I need a longer range of vision. _________________

I wear glasses, but that's only due to nearsighted eyes. The glasses themselves are pretty color-correct. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Weird colours in my art is usually due to my monitpr being lighter than average... even when a turn down the brightness on it my art still usually ends up being darker than I intend. _________________

I had the same thing happen on my other computer, except the monitor was far too dark. :/ And when I viewed some of the images on other computers, they were a distasteful bright, and not as dark as I wanted. _________________

From what I've noticed, my glasses make things a bit darker, though not by very much at all. It could even just be my imagination. :\ But people do tell me that sometimes my color shading is too light when it looks just fine to me. _________________ FAC |

My old monitor was too dark, I had to use the video card's custom gamma settings to compensate for it. But even today, know one thing I've learned? Set your monitor's brightness to full, and then use the Contrast setting to adjust the overall brightness. This is more color-correct, because when you dim the brightness, this distorts the tertiary colors (like oranges and browns, which become shades of red) in the process. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

In my monitor...
Fayore: too much contrast
Joou: Shading too light, to little contrast
Squidman: Fine
Strata: too little saturation
I personally think my art looks fine, but it might be too dark or too much contrast in your monitor. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

I havent seen Fayore's art, might check it out later.....
The same happens in my monitor with Joou Strata and squidman..... And your art has pretty bright saturated colors, I love it  _________________

...As an off note, I hate how all my older drawings get a shitload of attention while my newer ones are ignored. And they're all on the same page, for crying out loud. D: No one likes my new oekaki. :S
On my monitor, my art seems fine. Brian's is okay, too. Joou's is too bright/not enough contrast; same with Strata's.
But then, it's all relative, isn't it? :0 _________________

If I had my old monitor right now, your avatar, Fayore, for instance, would appear to be black except the hair
It was EXTREMELY dark, when I got my new LG LCD, it was like looking at a dozen of lightbulbs, my eyes hurt. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

I realized first time wearing glasses that I realy have no real sense of depth and that I normally see everything in a distance as a 2D picture. No wonder that I have never had any problems with landscape paintings etc. |

I'm so near sighted I can't see beyond about three inches in front of me so I have a hard time trying to figure out if there is any color differences when I take them off.. But I don't think there's any difference >.> _________________

I rarely use my glasses, so I guess I haven't seen a color change... oO _________________

I wear glasses for nearsidedness but never had trouble with colors. Well.... I do have trouble converting CMYK colors to pantone colors on my computer. They look alright on the sceen but change when printed. _________________

I'm nearsighted also, but I only have to wear my glasses when I watch TV or drive or if I need to see something farther away, like writing on a blackboard or when I go see a movie.
I haven't noticed if my glasses made a difference in how I see colors on my computer. I've got an LCD flatscreen monitor, so all the colors are pretty decent. Everybody's artwork looks fine to me. |

Ah, I have close to the same problem with my contacts. I have blue-green tinters (I forgot what they are really called, they're from Acuvue if anyone here knows) and since there's tinting over my pupil, everything is just the slightest shade of blue. Not very noticeable when I have them on, but once I take them out, everything is much brighter and less blue. Not to mention that my monitor settings are far too dark for my liking. Brightness is all the way up, as is contrast, and the screen is still pretty dull. |
