I'll be frank with you. I don't usually play MMORPGs for the reason that my patience wears thin when attempting to stay with leveling up your character which can take a painfully long time. I don't have the money to afford those ones like World of Warcraft (Monthly fee is a bit pricy for one such as me), Guild Wars seems appealing but I don't have the proper money saved up yet. They make my computer lag like hell too. What I want to ask is this, something that I am both asking and answering at the same time.
Are there any free MMORPGs out there worth your while?
I have one. By MMORPG standards, its probably not that good, but for free, it holds up pretty well. At least from the mixed reviews you see around.
www.silkroadonline.net
The game is good. Combat looks good, and the graphics aren't too shabby that they'll make your head spin. Unfortunately, in comes the server issue. They really need to add new servers, or this game won't last much longer. They are almost constantly full, and you have to repeatedly log in to attempt to get in. If you don't, the game will disconnect and you'll be booted back to your desktop. Luckily, its fast getting back to the Silk Road main page, so after a few tries, you should be able to get in. If you ever happen to try it, I'm on the Athens server, and my username is Folion.
Next.
www.rakion.net
Ah, good old Rakion. I enjoy playing it for the simple reason that its addicting. Oh sure, the game modes are limited, but I still enjoy hacking and slashing some people up every now and then. Or doing a team battle which may seem like a small band of mercenaries battle. Or Golem Wars. Check it out for yourself to see what I mean, I dont have the time to go into detail on that one. Another thing I have to mention. Its not really an MMORPG. More like an arena combat game, similar to Stick Arena. Only better in quality. One thing that keeps this game from beings its full best though.
One:
You can distribute status points as you wish... up until level 15. You can no longer distribute after that, and must pay $6.00 a month to keep dsitributing status points. Oh sure, you can still play. You just wont get any stronger though. Utter BS.
Two:
Again, ANOTHER server issue. Sometimes, and this happens often, the best computers will supposedly 'disconnect' from game rooms with lagging players. This usually wont happen in the middle of a game; more like when youre joining a room. When you finally get in, if you see someone with over 999 MS, then that means that you will be booted in the next second or two, and must find another game to join. This may happen rarely, from almost always. Its painfully frusturating.
Now another arena game.
Stick Arena.
I already know that a lot of people here on FAC are familiar with this game. I enjoy playing it, but quite frankly, it just gets boring after a while. You soon find that there are numerous hackers out there (Over half of the people on the high score boards are hackers), and some people like to gang up at random intervals. Or some people just like leaving when you're just starting to have fun. Or you may just start totally PWNing everyone, and it gets old.
www.stickarena.com for those of you that care.

Maple story! it's free, cute and easy xD it's 2d so it doesn't need a super pc <3 kinda cheesy but it's still pretty good ^_^
you can download it here
FF11 is a good mmorpg *I love it for some unknown reasons x_x* but you must pay 12$ a month I think...and if you create another charecter you will have to pay more -__- kinda fun, but takes a really long time to level up and there's a fcukin expansion pack every year and...if you don't play the game for 6 months they will delete your account *my precious high lvl characters dissapeared*...I really don't have the time for that game. |

I used to play Runescape a lot. Graphically it's nothing special, and it gets repetitive, but for a free browser based game it's pretty good. The free game is only a small part of the whole game though. Think monthly costs are like 3.20 (think that comes out at about $5).
But right now it's all about World of Warcraft. The fees aren't a problem for me, so it's all good. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

Hmm, I have 2 mules and I pay $14.95/mo. It's not really that much more expensive but it does take a long time to level up (especially when you level up a character and then decide you'd rather end up leveling your mule and you end up with your mule higher level than you ;;)
Anyway, free MMORPG's. hmm... well I think Knightsonline is free. I was playing that while I didn't feel like paying for FFXI. XD It's not the best game in the world but it was kind of fun. It's not cutesy like Ragnarok. |

I've been wondering if I should try Anarchy. People say I should. But I want to get the general audience's opinion first.
I love Maple Story, but I found it a bit TOO cutesy for my tastes. Sowwy DX
World of Warcraft/FF11, I wish I could play those. I wish.
Runescape. Occasionally, I play it, but not so much anymore. _________________ I speak only at the most opportune of moments. |

Since Anarchy is currently 100% free, I think you have nothing to lose. Personnally, I've tried it about 2 years ago and was less than impressed. It didn't appeal to me, but I couldn't tell why. |

I tried Anarchy Online as well and was also less than impressed. There was nothing I really hated about it, but there was nothing that I liked about it. I mean, there's going to be a lot of downfalls for free games anyway and often times they end up turning into to pay-to-play games. It gets frustrating to hop from free game to free game. I eventually just said "eff it" and decided to pick up a game I had to pay-to-play.
I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've rummaged through this list of free MMORPG's. XD
There are some...really bad ones listed there. Some that you come across aren't all that bad though. |

Ew, Maple Story. I played it for a while before I got sick of it. They did some weird stuff to user settings that made everyone unable to log into their old characters, so everyone had to start over. That's when I quit. I hear it's a bit more interesting now, but I'm not interested in trying it out again.
On the other hand, I've been busy amusing myself with Shards of Dalaya. I was an EverQuest player back in the day... Stopped playing when I entered college though. Now, after a very long time of not playing, I found SoD, which is an EQ emulation, and a darned good one at that. Good for anyone who wants that nostalgic MMORPG feel. XD The only challenge is finding a place to download the original game files from.... But it's really not that hard, if you look in the right places. |

America's Army
I've been amusing myself with this, which seems to take a big ass space on my computer's C: drive. The tutorial is a bit frusturating, but once you get past that, it's all good.
It's even been recognized as an official game.

hmm.. i do like maplestory... but i get the whole "cutesy" comment... if you're not a fan of the anime look... then that game will never work for you...
it should come with some better instructions though... i have a lvl 30 character... but he's all fucked up... i put about 15 AP's in wrong sections when i started.. so he's not as good as he should be.. so i started again on the new channel yesterday... so i'm only lvl 13 : (
runescape is cool... yeah the graphics aren't the greatest... but the overall game is fun to do.. the quests do have more insight than the ones in say maplestory... and the game is very userfriendly (imo)
but you really need to go P2P with that game... |

Just found a great list. It includes the name of the game, a picture, and informs you of whether its Free to Play (F2P) or Pay to Play (P2P). The links that don't inform you of F2P or P2P are probably either still in the Beta stage, or the dude who made the list is working on it.
You may find it here. _________________ I speak only at the most opportune of moments. |

I currently play Endless Online. It's like habbo hotel, only you get to fight people, monsters and get weapons and magic. And level up and stuff. _________________ Smoking cigarettes can reveil hidden laser traps. This message brought to you by Marlboro.
