Been trying out "The Gimp" with some old stuff on my computer ^_^ I like, I like.

A little confusing since it's a new program, but I'll eventually get the hang of it.

It's basically got everything I need from an art editing program ^^ gotta love the "free" part

Thanks a bunch, Matt!!

the free version of PSP is very limited. I run PSP8. I know PSP9 has been out and I believe a version 10 is coming, but I really didnt see to much more to the new versions up against mine...except the price. other artists working with Photoshop do realism in cging alot easier than myself, but every one of these programs take time to learn. Ive noticed cleaner "shine effects" with photoshop than psp, but the "wet look" tool on psp serves well to look like acrylics.

example of PSP8: (the resizing on psp can be done well by changing the settings from "pixel" to "smart sizing")

I happen to have both. I recently got photoshop cs as a gift, but before then I was trying to figure out paintshop. they are more or less the same, but I like photoshop more simply because it's easier to find tutorials if you can't do something. well, it's easier for me, anyway. even when I googled the keywords for paintshop tutorials, I'd still come up with limited results or sites that have almost nothing to do with the subject.

I myself love photoshop much more because it is easier and I like the tools on it and how the layering for me seems much easier and paintshop is expensive and I have Adobe Photoshop 6.0 , Razz CHEAPY!

I always end up saving another copy of the pic as a jpg file. although the layers merge in the copy, it's the only way I found that I can upload pics...well, that's how I do it anyway. Very Happy

yeah, I'd look more into that site, if I were you, but when I googled "buy photoshop cs" that was the first site they listed. it might be a good deal, but there are things to condsidering. like, shipping & handling might be way more expensive with them. so, it could end up evening out. most sites I saw were selling it for at least $400.

I haven't been using Photoshop for very long, but I can tell you one thing - I find the digital painting is much nicer looking and more precise. I tried coloring some lineart in Paint Shop Pro and it just kept looking like crap. I did it in Photoshop and it came out great. I was doing the same thing. It's hard to explain, but Photoshop just functions better. But PSP has it's advantages in other areas. I sometimes use both for one image.

I don't have paint shop so I use photoshop and also u can use it to have some fun by making your friends look fater, weird or deform their faces.

I pass a lot of time doing that when I'm mad at them

i got a question about photoshop and paint shop and such.
which would you use if you wanted to make a whole new picture? can you do that? like, starting from scratch?
or what about taking a sketch and enhancing it to make it seem animated, like some of the pictures on this site? i'm really curious and confused about which program would be right for me, so i'd love if someone could reply!!!
