You know The annoying little popups that, Arn't really popups...

But more like... "pop unders"

THAY ARE ON TEH FAC

FIX IT! D: I HATE THESE.

edit: and those things on the bottom are YTMNDs I've saved for those of you that are quick to judge.

Yes. I added popunders to fac today.

For those who object:
* FAC is expensive to run and is growing. Popups pay very well.
* They are limited to 1/day
* No multi-popups.
* They are currently only spawned from the front page
* There should be none with objectional content
* There are lots of popup blockers out there. I know the google ad bar successfully blocks them.

However, that is not one you should be getting and it looks like a dhtml overlay not a popunder.

Indeed: a pop-under is a pop-up except that it appears behind the current window rather than in front of it.

Hey, this might be slightly different from the topic, but suddenly today there's something really wrong with popups or somesuch.
I went to fanart-central, and first there was a pop-up error:

Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://fanart-central.net/.

Operation aborted.

I can still get in if I refresh, but there are immediately a million pop-ups.
I have a pop-up blocker, so it's not like they all hit me, but the blocker takes a while to work and the slows down the page until the pop-up's been blocked...
The blocker was working even before I got the page to load!

And not only that, but there are sporadic pop-ups- After the first blocked pop-up, there will be a few seconds [10? 15?] before another one hits.
It's really annoying because then the pop-up blocker kind of refreshes the page, and the page I'm looking at keeps jumping up again when I'm trying to go down.

I'm checking my computer, but all other sites I go to are working smoothly, without any excess popups.

I don't know if these are pop-ups or pop-unders, but one of the pop-ups that got through still showed up on top of this page, so it's still a pop-up.

There are no pop-ups on the forum pages though.

Still.... is this happening on anyone else's computers? I don't know if it's just my computer or a problem with the site, but it's only to FaC and so...

Please? Some help?

1. Popups should be limited to 1 per 12 hours.
2. FAC was having some serious problems this morning.

Still, it's a very annoying thing and it's still happening!
I even tried re-starting my computer, but the popups are still there. :/

Oh, and something more, denis.
I've figured out now that some of the pop-ups that occur while on a page are because of clicking... If I click on an fac page, even if it's not over a link or picture or something, but just blank space, then more often than not a pop-up will appear.
I also get them when i DO click on links, and on the next page I reach.
Some still seem to be hitting me at random.

This is a completely new problem, I'm sure; just yesterday there were barely any pop-ups, and that's why I've never had a big problem with the pop-ups on fac, but this is getting out of control. I can barely press the 'browse' button when wanting to submit anything.

Please, can you see what you can do? And is it just me??

Seems to me that its just you. I'm not getting it and haven't heard any other reports. You sure you dont just have some spyware? Install spybot and clean up your system.

Actually, I'm having that popup problem too. I was just assraped by 11 popups total while trying to submit something. Dx And it's only happening on this site- I just came from dA, KnN, and a few other popup-free sites, and now... blam. D:

What would the point of that be? If they are blocked FAC doesn't get any money from them. Anyway, they are capped (or supposed to be) because thats all they pay on.

Anyway, unless like 90% of users have popup blockers they appear to be scamming me anyway so I'm taking them off.

Oh, well, denis, it only seemed to be for a while.
I'm on today and there are no more popups, so whatever problem it is, hopefully it was just temporary and it's now gone. Very Happy

But the same day the pop-ups happened, later on when I tried to get to FaC, it just gave me an error and 'unable to connect to server' page...
Just for that day though. I think FaC's all fine now. :)

Keep up with the site!

Do Firefox users not get popups? I was reading this and wondering why I didn't have the same problem. I don't get any popups for FAC, at all. :/ But I have a popup blocker too...

Firefox has a built in popup blocker. Doesn't work 100% but it does cut down on them.

I'm using Internet Explorer, and I haven't gotten any popups/unders. Then again, it might be because I have McAfee on my dad's comp, and Norton's on my mom's comp.
