I was looking at some fanart when I saw the 6 o'clock picture of the hour.
This one made me think.OCs are ignored and that's not fair! The original characters that have backround stories are just as bit as good as the ones that are in the book, movie, video game, etc. If you post a reply please stae how you feel about the lack of OC notice,if you post on OC pics and if not why. Also you can join my spiffy club.
The club is created to raise OC awareness. I have christened it Original Characters Need Love and Notice,or O.C.N.L.N. for short.

Well it's too serious to be in random but it doesn't seem to fit in in any other place. I'm actually interested to promote OCs. _________________

Actually, that girl has her own OC club already at dA. Lindsay (That's her name) luffs her OCs, so I bet if you PMed her, she'd join in a heartbeat. ^-^ |

Can I join too? I like OCs, and I have a couple of my own, although I've only posted a couple pics of 'em.
If I see an interesting OC, I comment on it. Definitely need to spread the love!

Maybe its a good idea although, its hard to promote OCs, there is no way to get an individual category for everyone's OCs for obvious reasons, and clubs usually don't work at FAC.

Kindly read the small purple print in my sig.
I conga upon the line of insanity and genius if anyone could pull off any club thinkl it would be this one. After all a percent of FAC members have OCs.Most of them hate getting no comments on they're hard work.So we come to the conclusion that people with OCs would joina club to help give them more publicity and comments. _________________ The question isn't "Would you die for a friend?"

Yes, but having a link in your sig gets to .01% of FAC's population, because not everyone in the forum will read your signature, and the active forumers are a really small percentage of FAC's members.
You would need Denis to feature you in the main page to gain the members Awareness....
And on another questions... Would you accept anyone with OC's to the club or only ones with quality drawings and background stories? _________________

While I do feel sad my OCs get no love, I can't really say I don't deserve it. I've been drawing fanart for so long that that's the only reason anybody pays attention to me. I kinda dug myself into this hole. And the online existence of my OCs is relatively new, so they haven't become so well established yet. :/ But I knew this would happen. I have low-quality art, and the only reason I got any attention before is because I drew well-known characters. My low-quality art combined with my own unkown characters...? It's pretty obvious no one will care.
'sides, this is Fanart Central, not "random anime characters you made up central". :/ _________________ FAC |

Snap, your right many people don't give a damn about my sig. I would ask Denis to put it up,but with all the problems he has to fix at the moment I don't think something like an OC club is top priority. As for your other question anyone can join the O.C.N.L.N. as long as they feel OCs need more notice. You don't need a backround stories or great artwork to join.

It may seem obvious to you low quality art and original characters means no one should care but I think otherwise.Just because they don't come from the book, movie,or whatever means they desevere any lees attenion. And I wasn't aware that this wasd fanart-central thank you for informing me. <_< _________________ The question isn't "Would you die for a friend?"

Yeah yeah yeah... I know that. (Always hated that fact >>)
Still, all those popular characters we know, love, and drawn fanart of today were once someone's original character concept. We're simply aspiring OC creators, some of us create them for enjoyment, others really want to get somewhere with their concepts someday.
I hope nobody gets the wrong idea; I'm not knocking OCs. Hell, my current avatar is one of my own. I originally wanted to go somewhere with my own characters, but really, I'm not talented enough. By the age I may have enough talent, I'll probably be busy with college or somesort and my characters will never see even the slightest bit of recognition other than a few of my dA friends. :/ Woo?
But anyway, I do agree that OCs should get more love. After all, they take more creativity than fanart. Not only are you making up your own original pose as you would in a fanart, but you're also designing the character, costume, etc.
I guess that was simply me trying to explain why it is the way it is. OCs are more recognized on sites like mangaworkshop.net, where it's more original anime/manga creations than fanarts. But here on FAC, the main focus is fanart, and that's what people here come to see. _________________ FAC |

No more yellow Hitler-fro? D:
I have that problem too, though. What I plan for my OCs always falls through, because of my inability or short attention span.
But I have high respect for anyone who can do it. They're on a much higher level than someone who redraws screencaps or official art over and over.
I've witnessed on this site people just drawing an OC and later deciding to make them part of a popular fandom just so they can have more attention. Rather than ragging on peeps who do this, I think it's just sad that they'd feel like they have to. |
