Ever Get Annoyed When People Have More Faves...

Are you ever annoyed when a artist whom you are sure you are beeter than has more faves than you?I'm no Suzuhira Hiro or CLAMP and I'm not trying to be arrogant,but I've seen overrated artists.Does that ever happen to you?I mean,you work hard in your drawings and some person with less skill than you do are on the "Favorite Artists" list of more people than you.There's more underrated artists here on FAC too.I am not a good artist,but but I've seen artists worse than me who have more faves.Post your angst here.

Reply to posters:Yeah,I guess it depends on concept too. And usually users with large galleries have a lot of faves. Or those who have beenhere since the beginning.

I guess it might not be so much a matter of skill as opinion. However, I have noticed some people who are on a lot of people's fave lists, who in my opinion, just aren't that good. I like to see the really good artists acnowledged, so I don't fave people unless I really like their work or their style.

On a side note, I think 9 people have put me on their Favorite Artists list, and to whoever they are, I thank them. Smile

I wish people would tell you whenever they fave you...

For a lot of people it seems to be a matter of what you draw and not how good it is. Well, let me rephrase. Not for a lot of people, but a lot of adolescents amongst this site (and others). They don't seem to care that it's the worst picture possibly ever created, just the fact that it is that character that they are oh so neverendingly obsessed with.

Kind of the same feeling you get when someone does actually fave your stuff on deviantart and then you end up going to their page to see that they have like half of deviantart faved. Similar feelings, imho.

I don't really mind. If someone has more faves than me, they're either better than me or they've been here longer. It's one or the other (in my case)

On the said topic at hand. Yes definatly a lot of over rated peoples. The the mounds of comments sonic fancharacters recieve. And there are other artists that I think are on way to many artist fav lists as well

Yes it's annoying but I agree, the pictures that get more comments and favs are particular sections of art.
Not that I'm overly bothered anyways because I'm doing my university degree in Illustration next year, that shows I'm good enough by itself.

I get annoyed by it, yes, but have learned to cope and move on. Granted, periodically I see a picture that reeks of such badness I'm itching to rip into that person's ego, but, as Stewart says from MAD TV:

"The truth, can, be, [i]devastating[/i]."

I'm going to let them have their "ignorance is bliss line" for as long as possible. If I really hate them, then sure, critique here I go, but until then, ah, let them have their fun. I'm quite picky about who goes on my favs list. It's not easy and I periodically come through and pick out the ones I find unsatisfactory. I hate going to pages where they have more than a hundred favorite pictures, more than a hundred favorite artists, and so, to make sure I don't do the same, I choose who I think it good carefully.

It works, I think. Smile

I do love when I find good art, though. It makes me happy.

The only reason why I never feel inferior to someone who has more faves than me, is because I never spend the time to make myself known.

All huge art sites are pretty much a power struggle for popularity, it takes someone quite devoted to spread their art-crap or not-to just about everyone they view. I am not one of those.

I don't get upset about my own art not getting comments or faves, but it saddens me when I see some insanely talented person with no comments of faves, yet things like the most commented-on pic get so much attention.

But people with low quality art that get a lot of comments have been here a long time and have gotten their name out one way or another, be it good or bad. That or they make friends with other people of the same skill-level and canon, and this little clique makes a 'comment circle' around each others' artwork.

Then again, they could be genuinely nice people who give a lot of comments to other peeps, and in turn get more comments/faves themselves.

I don't really care about what I get, though I do hate seeing someone with no talent AT ALL get a bazillion faves, just because they're drawing popular characters. Sadly, this is probably me. 8D Though I have around 60-summat fave'ds at the moment.

And yes, it also makes me sad to see the opposite- a very good artists with no recognition because they draw things from less recognized series (or their own original characters, for that matter). Talent is talent, right? D:

The reason why you see a lot of mediocre artists who are on like a bajillion Favourite Artist lists is because a lot of the younger users find use that as more of a "link trade" - you add me, I'll add you. That's how a lot of them end up everywhere. :S It doesn't help that they spread like wildfire by putting a "OMG SO CUTE +FAVS" to everything they click on, either. :/
