Thanks a lot Will. <_<

But I do think this is pointless now. I don't want to get in a debate and I don't want to have to repeat again that it was a joke.

Catholics don't pray to Mary as much as people say.  They have like one prayer to her.  They just have a respect for her because she popped out Jesus.
Lies, in most catholic latin american houses, you can see people praying to her everyday....
They even say, that if you lighted a candle the day before an exam to pray to Mary you are definately latin american.......

Soap operas are a good example. OWNED.
Never heard of the exam thing. I'm Catholic, Mary is never really mentioned at mass. We have one statue of her--that's about if for the MAry worshipping.

Sure, KJ when it declares witches to be "bad" aka:

Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live, in orginial text (which was what the bible new testment was written in greek and the old in hebrew... because the jews are sexy like that) it clearly states in a direct english translation:

"Thou shalt not suffer a poisoner to live" and if we would place that into our modern times... "Thou shalt not suffer a drug dealer to live." You wanna know how it became witch? Because lil' king james hated the pagans running around and the paganic belief systems so he decided "HEY I know how I can squish all the little pagans." And thus that came to be.

In the old testment it's not "Love thy Neighbor" (which tends to take means to the person who lives in a house next to you) but more to the point of being "Love the person next to you" (Avy backs me up on that... : D ). Hrms...

So if two mistranslations (We won't even GO into the whole Horns on Moses...) can happen who says there isn't more?

KJV Sucks ass. Learn Greek and Hebrew and actually read the bible in orginal text. : D Maybe it might help a little. Oh and if you come to the statement "Oh well you don't read greek either." LOLZ! I got to a greek orthodox chruch and we get read the greek gospel and an english translation EVERY sunday. So. There. : D

ALSO, might i point out, that the Chruch (aka the Orthodox/Catholic when they were still together) made the bible. OH SNAPS, does that mean that there are other writtings in which are not included in the bible?! OH MY GODDESS, I THINK I JUST BROKE EVERY PERSON'S BELIEF THAT THE BIBLE WAS 1) Written by god or influenced (new testment avy.... new... and well old because some people did change the old as in point above) by god and 2) The bible is the sole religious source of information. AMUSING. There are four other gospels...: D

And look on discovery channel they have a special on the Gospel of Judias (sp?) sometime this week. : O What!!! That's crazy!

Of course there'll be mistranslations and things get f***ed up by people who have other agendas in mind. I'm sure that if I could read Greek, I'd love to read what was originally there. I envy you for being able to go somewhere and get it translated directly! It'd be great if we could do that at our church.

But I remember the witch part now. I've never taken it to literally mean witch, though. Poisoner does make a lot more sense. And as for love thy neighbor... it makes sense to use neighbor for me since my preacher uses it when we're dismissed. "Everyone, we'll be dismissed after you go around and tell your neighbor you love them."

The saddest thing is, the more they update any version (in the US at least), the worse it gets, since they have to change a certain number of words to be able to print it.

Horns on Moses? You mean Michelangelo's sculpture? I actually got a good laugh out of that, even if it's supposed to be light/a halo. :D

Haha, but I knew the bible was written by a lot of people through a long period of time. Pieces are missing and some have been omitted for one reason or another. But I think the most basic principles are still intact, and when you don't have access to anything else, it'll do.

I saw the Gospel of Judas commercial a few days ago, and I want to watch it so badly! I forgot when it comes on, though. I need to check that out, thanks for reminding me.

DF, sweety, I like you, but you asume too much. Both "poisoner" and "neighbor" are too broad to be taken in just one context. I'm hazy on the poisoner reference, but I know for a fact that "neighbor" is not meant to be "the person next to you" but all people. It was simply written in terms the people of the time could relate to, as most people never left the area they were born.

Also, the Bible was compiled by the Church, but it was written by countless people. The early Church (coincedentaly called The Cult of Jesus in it's beginning days) just acted as editor. Plus, since most of the followers of Jesus were Jewish and since Jesus wasn't there to condmen the Jewish faith but to fullfill it, they used the Torah as the starting point for their own holy texts. So, in essence, more than half of the Bible was written before the Christians even started.

Also, yeah, I know there are writings and whatnot that were left out of the Bible. Big whoop. I'm sure Gerald Gardner faced the same thing when writing and compiling his books as well.

And because you force my hand:

"If you take [a copy of] the Christian Bible and put it out in the wind and the rain, soon the paper on which the words are printed will disintegrate and the words will be gone. Our bible IS the wind and the rain." Herbalist Carol McGrath as told to her by a Native-American woman

And I'm sure if you tossed a copy of Charge of the Goddess into a fire it would burn just as easily.

My point is: On one hand, good, you have a sacred text. On the other hand, you need to be carful about confusing the text for the religion itself.

THANK YOU. I wub you now. May we have sex?
Also, the Bible was compiled by the Church, but it was written by countless people
Oh really will? I wasn't quite sure why there were different names for different gospels.. NOW I AM! Thank you, captian obvious. I still love you though.. In a sexual way. : D
I'm sure Gerald Gardner faced the same thing when writing and compiling his books as well.

Lol. I'm not even a wiccan. That has no point in this whole thing at all. Wasted time to type. Shame on you will, pay attention. : D

No kidding. : D Why do you think I said... and I quoteth myself.
2) The bible is the sole religious source of information.
(as in it's not really the sole religious truth... because that looked funny all by it's lonesome.)

^_^ I love my history class it makes me arguementative on the interwebs. : D

Will you just kind of... agreed with me through out that whole post.

It tis love the person next to you, which could mean love people all around you. : D She asked for a reason why I said the KJV sucks, I told her. And you just agreed with me.

You could have just said "agreed" and just been over with it. : D

26. I am such a goth.

Being so goth is depressing.

You know, when I get really sad, I'm stressed, too.

I eat more when I'm stressed.

Now I'm morbidly obese.

I'm gonna go slit my wrists and commit suicide because I'm so disgustingly fat.

That's depressing.

Now I'm bored.

:3 Note: No, that is not how I think on a daily basis. Only when I'm sugar/soda/Friday-high.
