Anything and everything by Garth Nix.
Ditto for Terry Pratchett, but he's more comic fantasy, bar the Johnny series.
Also 'The Seer and the Sword' by (someone like Victoria Hanley but I'm a nincompoop and forgotten the name temporarily).
Tried Eoin Colfer? He's good.
[/leak of titles] ^^;; |

Garth Nix is good. Very good. His Dark Materials was good. Very good.
Anything by Anne McCaffery is pretty good.
However, the fantasy that tops my list is by Anne Bishop. It's called the Black Jewels Trilogy and the first one is Daughter of the Blood, the second, Heir to the Shadows, and the last, Queen of the Darkness. This series so totally kicks butt. However, there are a couple of themes that require maturity. So, reader be wary. It is so dang worth it though. READ!! ^___^ So awesome. *starts reading them for the third time*

have you read the Death Gate Cycle series by them?? I really get into one of the books, finish it, start the next, and lose interest. Then the cycle starts over. Haha. Although I only stopped reading Fire Sea because one of my favorite characters died. I was so pissed, haha... |

I've read a few of the Death Gate ones but I never really got into them. Though the Soveriegn Stone Trilogy they wrote was spectacular _________________

I thought of another awesome fantasy book today. "Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley. It tells the King Arthur tale through the eyes of Morgain (Arthur's sister) and Gwenhwyfar (his wife). One of the best fantasy novels I ever read.
Yeah, DG, I could only make it half way through the third Death Gate Cycle book. I'll make my through the entire series eventually. haha... |

Definately read the Enchanted Forest Chronicals by Patricia C. Wrede. Those were really good.
I'd also suggest Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I haven't finished it yet, but so far it is an awesome read. |

Just go buy everything by R.A. Salvatore and you will be satisfied for quite some time. I especially recommend The Cleric Quintet. |
