I dunno... when a movie starts with an hour of filler... it doesn't overly impress me. Sometimes I wish Peter Jackson was physically able to make movies that run under three hours in length.

The Exorcist started with a lot of filler. And guess what.

It fucking beat the s**t out of faces.

And shut up. King Kong vs. dinosaurs cannot lose.

I haven't seen it yet. I just know that King Kong and dinosaurs can't be bad.

If 1/3 of the movie is King Kong vs. dinosaurs, I'll download it now.

Edit: I'm asking you, William. YOU.

Most of the stuff that took place on the boat seemed like it was happening just for the sake of making the movie longer. I know it was supposed to be there for character development, but it was long enough to make a second movie out of.

And even with all that extra development the human characters were still about as interesting as toast.

The dinosaur fights were fun, though.

I really have no desire to see this movie. I like Jack Black, but don't want to see this.

Classic Tarzan wins my love. <3

I thought the film was okay... more of a late 6/10 early 7/10 than "the best movie ever" as you described. Far from it.

I don't have to admit that Peter Jackson is one hell of a director because... well.... frankly, I don't think he is. The problem is not that the movie was long and I have a short attention span, it was that it was needlessly long (and I have a short attention span).

There are some longass movies out there that I think are grand. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is up around three hours, if memory serves and I find it exponentially better than King Kong (which is saying a lot because usually I don't even like Westerns). Terminator 2, V for Vendetta, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Mary Shelly's Frankenstein (the one with Robert DeNiro) are all up over two hours and they're great.

King Kong was long in the "Dances With Wolves" way, where you can't recall enough plot happening to merit three hours of movie after the thing is over.

Directors who make big long movies for the sake of big long movies do not impress me. It's all well and fine if the movie needs to be that long, but when a director is just making a movie because they really, really like it it gets kind of lame. LotR can be excused for being long because the books had to be cut down as is, but in the case of King Kong he was taking a normal feature length movie and stringing it out as far as he could. Sorry to say, but to me that movie may as well have been called "PETER JACKSON'S FANFICTION THEATRE".

There are directors who leave you so impressed that you just want to see more, and there are directors who leave you checking your watch every five minutes waiting for the movie to finish. In the mind of Kelly, Peter Jackson is the latter.

It's all a matter of opinion though, I suppose.
