I'm suprised there aren't any of these up, yet. Either that, or they're not allowed. In either case, I'll find out soon.

Basically, feel free to discuss the three competetors (or two, as Nintendo don't intend to "compete"...but what they intend and what people think, aint exactly the same thing).

In other words, take your pick, and then say why, be it games, graphics, non-gaming capabilities, online etc...

I know it's inevitable, but please try not to flame. Just check the official Playstation Forum to see what happens when this subject gets out of hand.

PS3. With trailers for DMC4 and MGS4 out already, it's hands down.

I'm personally looking forward to Heavenly Sword. It looks like the female answer to God of War!
Devil May Cry 4 I'm getting, too. DMC3 is awesome; I'd be a fool not to pick it up.
And even if Killzone is pre-rendered, if just half of what was shown is done, I'll be happy.

got to be xbox 360, although the games are really expensive. i love the smoothness of the characters, no big pixles showing or anything. i am a big fan of nintendo but im not a fan of the new remote stly controller. i couldnt use a remote controll and an analog stick to play, it would be too confusing. BUT, i would love to play zelda using its motion sensitive feature. i can imagine just swinging it to make link swing his sword.
not much to say about the ps3, just the same as the ps2 and ps1 but with better graphics.

Well...actually, you could say the same for the 360. To be fair.
The PS3 is an more of a fully upgraded PS2, though. Hard drive, Blu-ray technology, able to control more things at once, so there are literally armies of enemies and such. Online is apparently gonna be better, too.
I don't particularly like the revo controller, either. It'd be impractical for a long period of time. With a normal controller, you can rest it on your lap, but with a TV remote, you're gonna have a stiff arm if you keep playing the revo.
But then again, the PS3 controller isn't anything to rave about, either.

This type of post has been up before... it's just been a while since it has. They first started posting the "which would you prefer of the 3" right before the 360 came out.

I think if you go with either the 360 or the PS3, you'll be fine. It's really just a question of which first party titles you like more. Personally, I like microsoft's brand better. And I already have the 360, so that also answers which of the three I'll get.

PS3 doesn't have a solid price yet. But even if it were reasonable (say $500), I think I'd wait a good two to three years to get one. As for the Revolution... who knows? Nintendo really hasn't been showing or pushing any must gey titles for it. Hell I can only name one title that is being made for it... and I don't even think that'll be a launch title. But if they do manage to innovate with perifferals, and have that really low price point ($150-$200) I may pick it up a year after it comes out.

If I did have to just choose one it'd be the 360. But I think in reality I may slowly get all of them. Unless the PS3 is too expensive... like $700 or something.

PS3. The only reason is because it's going to be region free. This means importing = less of a hassle for me. 8D

Plus, my friend showed me a leaked video of Lair (among some other junk), and damn! are the dragons in that game ever hot. o__o And if that was in-game... :F

But yah. Since I'm a sprite person, I'm not overly concerned with graphics, just which titles/genres I like. Since nearly everyone knows that PS = RPG, well. 8D Importing made easy. Hot. :B

I don't like the idea of the robot in Metal Gear Solid IV. At all.

The 360 is sort of tempting, but at the moment the only game I could say I 'want' is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and while everyone I've spoken to has rated it highly (9.0+) it appears that it's really just a dumbed down "Morrowind" with a nice shiney new paint job. The three "Mist Walker" games are certainly interesting.

Also, the PS3, despite Sony's generationally growing propaganda (and price tag), is generally the best place for my favourite type of game, the RPG, so I'll be keeping my eye out for that, even if nothing I've seen as of yet (that isn't pre-rendered propaganda footage) is exactly as "wow" as they'd have me believe some months ago.

N5? Well... not all innovation is good. I don't like the look of it. It's greatest appeal would be the back catalogue of Nintendo games. But... welcome to five years ago, we've been downloading the Nintendo back catalogue very easily for a long time.

What robot? Otacon's rollerskate one? Or the mini-metal gear thing?

The one that serves as a transmission device, replacing the codec system.

To be honest, it makes me wonder. Think it does something vital or helps in combat. If it's just for communications, then the Codec would work just as well methinks.

QUOTE ("Wikipedia")
The trailer, set in a war-ravaged, urban environment (bearing more than a passing resemblance to Iraq), features Snake being partnered with a robotic navigator (resembling Metal Gear Mk. II, a robot in Kojima's Snatcher) Kojima has gone on record in an issue of Game Informer Magazine that there is no relation between the robot in Snatcher and the one Otacon manipulates, despite their identical appearance. It is controlled remotely by Otacon himself. Snake uses the Mk. II to communicate with Otacon, which serves as a substitute to the nanomachine-based communication system (CODEC) from previous games. Kojima commented that the development team will experiment with the idea of controlling the Mk. II via remote control for reconnaissance using the Playstation Portable, although the feature might not be in the final game if it's not considered practical.
Whatever it does, I do not like it.

So basically it's a "just in case" idea?

I don't think so. It must have some application - interfacing with doors, there may be something preventing a codec system from being put in place, it may be able to reach areas Snake cannot... who knows. A "just incase" would be absolutely retarded, and Hideo Kojima certainly is not retarded, it's just not been explained sufficiently at this early stage.

Xbox 360, simply because I haven't seen anything for PS3 that has caught my attention yet.

But really, I'll take all thee, thank you. I'm done with "brand loyalty", because the dumb fucks (Japan, I'm talking to you here) who stick with only one system simply because of a fucking logo on the side of a box, you're missing out, people. I laugh at you in your ignorance. There are good games on all the systems, and I plan to take full advantage of all of them.

Meh, it's all too damn expensive just for gaming anyways. I'll stick with what I have till they drop their price tags.

We've done discussion on the new and upcoming consoles, but it's been quite a while since the last thread on it.

True, the thread has already been done.
PS3 or the Revolution. Not a fan of the Xbox at all, in my world don't really have any games I want, all the games I liked for it got released on the others.

Yes, but the games that were relased for all platforms I will get for the Xbox as they consistantly play better and look better on this system. I keep my PS2 for the exclusives solely.

It's sad, the PS2 is anciet technology compaired to the Xbox, but they have a stranglehold on some of the best licenses, thus keeping the Xbox from its full potential.

Or Maybe nobody wants their costumers to get burned from an exploding XBOX while playing An RPG That's slightly better than Final Fantasy but in the end it's the same™. Maybe.

XBOX IS HUEG PS2 IS CLICHE GAEMCUEB IS GAE

And this'll never change even as the cycle continues, just the names.

EDIT: I voted Nintendo Revolution because I've had a good experience with The Gamecube. PS3 was a close second because No Region Protection = hot <3
