Though perhaps the dual-type thing in S/R/E works against them.
Dual-types generally add more weaknesses than they neutralize.

Example -- Fire-types:

Torchic -> Combusken:
+ Becomes resistant to Dark
+ No longer vulnerable to Rock
-- Becomes vulnerable to Flying, Psychic
= 3 -> 4 weak points

Charmeleon -> Charizard:
+ Greater resistance to Grass, Bug
+ Becomes immune to Ground
-- Loses resistance to Ice
-- Becomes vulnerable to Electric
-- Even more vulnerable to Rock
= 3 -> 3 weak points

Slugma -> Magcargo:
+ Becomes resistant to Normal, Flying
-- Loses resistance to Steel, Grass
-- Even more vulnerable to Water, Ground
-- Becomes vulnerable to Fighting
= 3 -> 4 weak points

Or perhaps Water-types:

Seadra -> Kingdra:
+ Greater resistance to Fire, Water
+ No longer vulnerable to Electric, Grass (Water's sole vulnerable points)
-- Loses resistance to Ice
-- Becomes vulnerable to Dragon
= 2 -> 1 weak points (a much more beneficial mix)

Sableye's Ghost+Dark is probably the best dual-type in the game. Three outright imunities (Normal, Fighting, Psychic), and all type vulnerabilities are neutralized!

Finally beat the 8th gym leader. Wasn't as hard as I was expecting, but a lot of people here have said games are getting easier. My team was something like:

Pelipper(31)
Kadabra(46)
Machoke(41)
Aggron(44)
Mudkip(44)
Gyarados(39)

Made it through Victory Road, and I hated it. I think it's something that's been passed down from the last games. Laughing And made it to the Pokemon League. Lost to the first trainer, but damn is the music good for that scene. Really works into the feel of it all.

i dont think any one on here has mentioned ruby version. i have it and it is one of the best. the 1st pokemon game i played was yellow on the very old black and white gameboy. it was my cousins. it had a really good feel to it, maybe because you couldnt choose your started pokemon. gold was the next one i played. it was my next door naighbers, he didnt let me on his file so i started a new file and not save it. i could only play it before my mum was taking me him his bro and my bro swimming ever other sat. that was a good game. its cool that you have to get 16 badges. i thne played cristal which was practicly the same as silver and gold. i then played saphire and loved it. then fire red and didnt think much of it. the latest one im playing is ruby which is the 1st actual pokemon game of mine. im going to buy the new ds ones when they come out. ive seen one when you spin the stlyus round the pokemon to catch it, its called pokemon rancher. its diffenet to other pokemon games.

I loved gold version. Traveling between the two regions, and the real-time clock was awesome! I had Lugia, Ho-oh, the legendary dogs, but then... one fateful day I turned it on, and everything was gone. Sad I later got ruby, but didn't like it at all. Hopefully the DS games will be good and I might actually get back into Pokemon. :blink:

Also, is Trozei any good? I loved Meteos and it looked very similar. If anyone has it please tell me how it is, as I'm thinking of getting it. (If it's even out yet, as I'm not entirley sure lol)

You're a dumb thread! I still have my ancient Yellow version and Crystal version that are collecting dust in...........where ever they are. I used to have Ruby version and had like 200 hours put into it but before I got rid of it I took all my best pokemon and stored in my Emerald, it took me a long time to do that because I had to catch a bunch of useless pokemon so that I could trade them for my good ones.

Man, the Pokmon games are class

I only ever use like 3 or 4 pokmon

I have the Yellow Version somewhere Uneasy and the Sapphire Version aswell. I think I put about 60 hours into that one, or longer. Got my Blaziken up to like lvl 85, a Pelipper to lvl 82 and that starter grass pokmon in that game to lvl 82 aswell I think. They could whip all the lvl 100 pokmon on that Island eventhough they were miles behind in lvl. I could beat the Elite Four with just one Pokmon aswell Cool

I have Ruby and LeafGreen version.Somehow,i am quite dissapointed with the remake Leafgreen version.They don't offer much depth and game experience like R/S version.They dont have berry plants to grow,Fast bike and pokemon contest.Just a plain remake but transferng my MewTwo to my Ruby Version helps alot.

I didn't buy LeafGreen or FireRed, I actually never played the original Red or Blue version. The first one of the series that I played was Silver, I think that had all the original 150 pokmon in it Uneasy and it went through the gyms of the first one too, so I didn't bother getting it.

I caught two Feebas today in Emerald. It wasn't actually too hard to find. Though maybe I was just lucky. :0

Man, I miss the good 'ol days of Red and Blue. I still have a copy of Blue, and exploit the Missingno. cheat whenever I can =P
I ended up with 30 Charizards and 26 Aerodactyl...and 10 Snorlax.
Ah, but alas...I got lost as soon as the second set of Pokemon came out. I lost track of their names, and which games they were in. But in my opinion, Blue still pwnz =D

One of my favorite new things about Fire Red was that new islands where you can get some of the newer pokemon like the Unowns, Larvetar and such. One other thing about it is that they moved the Legendary Birds to the islands so that you can't catch them to beat the Elite Four with them with made it more of a challenge.

You sure? I still spotted Zapdos in the Power Plant.

I recall beating the original (RBY) E4 & Champ without any legendaries on my team.

You didn't really need them for anything. Just finishing the collection to be honest.
