i love drawing, and id like to share it with the world, because its cool to do so!!!!!!!!
That doesn't really explain why you do fanart. You could like drawing a lot of things. Portraits. Landscapes. Still lifes. Fanarts. Abstracts. Wut. _________________ FAC |

I do fanart because I find characters and the style it is drawn in unique/cute/cool.
When I did my first fanarts of anything, Naruto, Mushishi, Kurozakuro... it was before I actually read what it was about, the character design caught my eyes.

To copy great artworks so you can ploy them off as your own to your friends and family who aren't so 'up-to-date' with the manga and anime scene.
Duur. Why else? XD
So the real reason why I do it? Or did, I haven't done it in a while. Escapism, thats the easiest answer I think.
I have this weird fetish of 'living in a story' (or 'Play Prentend' yeah I know I'm five) but seriously I prefer living in stories and artworks.
That does not mean I prance about the forest in furs and a mask, riding a wolf pretending I am Princess Mononoke.
...
I should seriusly be doing my coursework. Sigh. |

Ah...not sure why. I'm guilty of being a bit of a fangirl when it comes to Amiboshi from fushigi yuugi, which is pretty much the only fanart I ever do, if ever (though I don;t neccessarily act like a rabid fangirl). And then comes the weird tendency to draw him with wings and put him in some surreal background...
Or it's really all just practice for me... *has way to many fanart scribbles to count that's never been posted* _________________ Makes you wonder, doesn't it? |

I guess its because 95% of what I watch are cartoons. Their's nothing funnier than drawing a character doing something that he/she normally wouldn't do. Sometimes I do it because I dont like the character, and I want to see him get hurt. Plus its easy. You already know what they look like. Entertain yourself. |

Um... because... I like drawing?
XP Yeah. Simple as that. My story. It's not like I drew since I was like 3 or something though... or did I? Who knows. But drawing manga and anime and stuff, I just enjoy it. For some reason I like drawing females lots more. _________________ ZOMG teh fanart! <-- Click.

I draw males a lot more than I do females. About 90% of my OCs are males. _________________ --Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas. But of a humble heart, the Lord wil not scorn, and from its abundance the mouth speaks.

I am drawing cause i got positive sayings from my art when i was on 3rd grade. The one who i could thank from that was my teacher who told i could become artist.
I started by having pics as models for 3 and half years. Eventought they were only copies from original pictures, my that times friends liked them and wanted me to draw something for them sometimes.
After whose 3 and half years, there came anime style into my life. That made me want to get rid of copying pictures and by time, as you can see, i succeed drawing pictures without having models. However, when i want to draw some anime char from animeserie, i print pic from him/her and take some details only following my very own style which came along time.
So.. that is my story why i am drawing right now. _________________ |

Hm, well specifically fanart? I do some, but it's not a huge thing with me. I prefer to stay on the original scale personally... but drawing altogether?
I actually started only 2 1/2 years ago, I was about 11 or something. My older sister had started drawing, and though looking back (and even now) she wasn't very good at all, I was enraptured about the hard work that when into every piece of art. So, I started to try to do my own stuff. I improved very quickly and realized I had a natural talent (that I found was in my blood later on). There's just something satisfying about it, and I enjoy it a lot- though I don't think I'll ever make it a career... it will stay a hobby with me for a long time, maybe for my whole life. Right now I center in on a specific art style, and use colored pencils as my medium, but I know that art has countless possibilites so it's not like it will ever become boring. I've always wanted to try to do watercolors |

Well, it was September of 2004. My brother's friend drew him a picture of Zim and Gir. I thought it was really cool, but I didn't have a clue as to how to simplify Zim. I kept trying for about 4 months, no luck. I eventually moved on to drawing other things, and I excelled. Eventually, I went back to drawing Zim, and I thought of an idea, and drew the whole thing. It's my best Dib yet! I think we draw fanart to please ourselves to add things, to impress people, or to put them in a very weird situation. Once you master a character, they're under your thumb, you can draw them anyway and you want to discover more positions and reactions you never thought you could think of! And we draw fanart to discover more about ourselves for this exact reason! |

I draw fanart because I see things in my head...
It's when I like a character or their design so much I have to show it in a creative way. And that creative way is to draw it. But another reason is because of the internet, partly to promote myself (heh ) and partly because it's FAC.
Also, the character designs I see are so amazing sometimes that I want to try it out so that I can incorporate it into my own characters' designs.
Oh yay. One more reason: when you see a gorgeous piece of art, do you kind of just gawgle (err, probably not the right word or a real word) at it? It's the amazement of seeing the effort and style put into a piece that makes you want to pick it apart and see how they did it so that you can do it yourself! Ah, Jacques-Louis David! Show me your works so I may follow in your steps!.....sorry, strange there. :S _________________ Left for FAC, Right for DA |

For me, it's between liking a character that much and the challenge. When I say challenge, I mean that if I really like a character, I start to stare at various pictures of them; studying them, in a way. Then, I ask myself "I wonder could I draw this as well as it looks in this picture...?" So I draw the character. Sometimes I'm successful and sometimes I'm not. For the characters that I really love, I might try again with a different picture of them. This is why I started off drawing fanart line from line from already existing pictures; to see if I could. (not because I have 'no talent', like some are quick to assume) Lately, I've gotten out of drawing pictures line from line; I still draw much fanart, but I make my own poses, clothes, situations, etc.
But I do draw real things, too. Mostly animals. I've loved animals for the longest time; probably why I started drawing anthros as such a young age (kindergarden). I usually need a reference with real pictures, though. _________________ Fools aren't born; pretty girls make them in their spare time.

I've been drawing for as long as I can remember.........though most of it was from my imagination. I mostly drew Wolves and mythical creatures. I draw because it's something I'm good at and lots of people in my family do it. Now, I'm into fanart. _________________ Hang on!!!

Drawing fanart gives artists the possibility to make their favorite characters do anything they want. If you're good enough, you can take a character that's been around for years and that everyone knows and make them totally original. This is true not just for fanart, but also for fanfiction. That's what I find most appealing about it. |

Because I'm very happy doing the comic that i like the best... its a hobby. when people say you are wasting your time etc, they waste their time to watch TV too. I work, I go out meet friend, i enjoy my life, at home I dont watch tv but do fan art ( or other arts) . ... I mean people who do fan art doesnt mean they dont have a life!
btw, beside other arts that I do the most was fan art for YuYu Hakusho and Saint Seiya ... if you are interested to have a look they are on my signature _________________ my Arts : www.ladykylie.com
