So..I finally sat down and watched the DVDs I bought.

I would have cried if I wasnt too busy yawning.

I seriously want to say I liked the anime, but..I thought it was crap compared with the manga. When did Goyjo's hair turn bright pink? When did Goku stop being funny? When did Hakkai not be made of win and incest? It's not right. :(

I got so f**king bored of it by the fourth or fifth DVD, made me want to cut myself to drown out the pure hatred towards this. Mabye I shouldnt have had such high expectations for it, most manga to anime transitions are unholy.

Some of the lines where so cheesy/awful. Who the hell says 'Unrequited Love affair'?

My heart weeps.

Some of the music is nice, though.

You should have asked me before you bought them, I could have told you that the Gensoumaden season sucked ass.

I'm pretty sure they were subject to a review threead once, I was nice and gave it something like 7/10, but that was becaus I wliked the bold colours and the ost.

It still sucked, though, animation-wise.

Which isn't to say that Requiem and Reload [Gunlock] also suck ass, they're much better, IMO.

Different animators.

None of them do any justice to the manga, though.

But Reload has Kami-sama and Gunlock has Hazel, so those ones win more than Gensoumaden. :mellow:

Anyway, Hakkai's incestuous relationship with his sister Kanan and Gojyo's hair was turned pink (among other things, like Sanzo's gun being turned into an "exorcism gun" and the youkai exploding instead of becoming corpses and getting blood everywhere) because the producer thought that stuff like that was too extreme for younger audiences. That guy's stupid, the manga was never intended for a younger audience. :/

...Exorcism gun? Oh my..holy hell. That's pathetic. I hate how they dumb stuff down and kiddify it and crap, takes the fun out of stuff.

Over the past few days I've really been put off seeing the anim of Saiyuki. Waste of time..?

I haven't really seen any of the anime except the movie, which wasn't too bad, but the manga is much better in my opinion. I always like the mangas better though, so maybe it's just me.

I prefer the manga to the anime anyday , i'm not really saying it's bad just , not as good as the manga .

my friend had an obsession to the manga (I;m buying the 1st volume today. ^_^ ) but she mentioned she hated the anime for the same reasons.

O.O;; . . . Wow. That guy is [i][b]really [/b][/i]retarded. What about all the damn swearwords they use? I mean, they use swears in almost every single sentence! And sometimes that's dumb. I mean, they made Hakkai say s**t! [u][i][b]s**t[/b][/i][/u]!!!! T_T T_T T_T That ruined it for me. . . . .

Actually, I don't think the anime's all that bad. I'd only read volume 1 of the manga before I watched the first 10 episodes, so I saw it in a different light. I have a really wierd sense of properity, as certain people say, so the manga was a big shock for me. I mean, boobs! Kanzen Botatsu, please put on a shirt! XD I dunno, I liked the anime. Especially the first episode, where Goku is doing this chibi bouncing thing when he's asking Sanzo questions. That cracked me up.

And the themesongs ROCK!!!!

The only one I really liked was "Don't look back again" and "Fukisusabu Kaze no Naka de," both by WAG.

lol. Watched it en anglais once and I was really shocked by what they did to Hakkai, too. ;_; It should be illegal for Hakkai to swear in any language.

I actually want to watch the show. Well, Gensomaden anyway. I'm reading the manga on the computer (6th volume already), and I'm watching Reload on the computer (in Japanese). And as soon as my family buys a dvd for our TV downstairs, I'll be able to rent Saiyuki and watch it myself. So it won't be long now. I love most of the songs, and I love the background music on Reload.

Despite the art style, I love the anime.

It took me about ten minutes to defeat Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo from Super Smash Brothers Melee using Peach.

Wow, someone else had the exact same reaction to this pile of s**t as I did! The suicidal thoughts, that is. I gave up after the first four or five episodes. It was a rather sh*tty story in the first place, made even worse by ugly art and character designs(no drug addict looking men plz) and stupid character personalities.

Anyway, I think pretty much all Saiyuuki remakes/reinterpretations fail (especially the latest Japanese drama version). Except for the Chinese live action version called "Monkey King". That was some awesome s**t.
