Read the last few posts
The candybar modifications are polluting the daily submissions nowadays, and when a member tells them to remove them, their remarks are "What are you, site police?"
In my knowledge, the Abuse team consists of handful of members and don't have the right to remove the pics their own (???) and don't have their rights written clearly on their profile. They are usually described as "Approval Panel" or "Category Cleanup" and telling the flamers to cool off, or warning them about the sprite edit seems to be an unwritten job description. The fact that it is unwritten don't give the newbies sense of authority when they are frantically looking up profiles of those "meanies" who tell them to remove the pics.
I suggest giving the current abuse team members (I know there are few) a rudimentary description, in bold, titled "Site Police" and making a news post describing what their powers are, so the members who tell other members to follow proper rules have at least some kind of superficial authority. If new members are needed to fill up the post, I recommend Jhonenfreak and AnimeMaster2334 (although she doesn't go to the mainsite anymore) because they are known to skim through recent deviations often, and because they are already very active in the GAFF thread. _________________ "Sarah's future makes me sad." - Benk |

Abuse Team members weren't labeled to protect anonymity and keep their pages from being flamed to high heaven. They can delete images and galleries, but not accounts. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I agree. :/ Those two are great candidates, and I'm sure that Animemaster2334 would go through the main site thoroughly had she the job.
Also, I think AP members should read the descriptions of sprite works and animated gifs beforehand to ensure that they're not stolen before approving it. I know that it takes a bit of time, but this is getting a little silly... D:
(Off-topic, but... is there a better way to hide the list of favourites so only a couple are listed, then the rest under a link that opens up into a pop up window or something? I'm tired of going through people's profiles and spending a good chunk of time just scrolling past them. D: )
EDIT: But I'd completely forgotten the flame side... o-o; _________________

I check the Recent Pictures listing daily, keeping notes of pictures that stand in violation of FAC submission policies (even minor issues like cropping, linedpaper, and titles). I could probably help, but....
It's kinda annoying to have to file an abuse report because the picture is not rotated properly, is in dire need of cropping, or has a non-humanly readable title (I've got nearly 20 such pics warned, bookmarked, & ready to report), but heck, that's part of the submission policy (or the FAQ and the new policy -- hey denis? ), and if we want people taking our rules seriously, we need to enforce them, i.e. start deleting violations.
Sometimes I even file abuse reports for category misplacement (only for the really major and obvious ones (example), not for minor issues like forgetting to use a char-specific subcat). There's been more than a few times where I've had to note a member's account as something like "insist they use _____ categories for submissions".
I remember seeing a comment on the dA forums that's quite relevant: Something like "the more hoops people have to jump through, the more they'll care about their own submissions".
Rules are in place for a reason. As nice as it is to give warnings first when a picture is in violation, we've got to follow through and actually enforce those rules (e.g. delete violations) if the warnings go unheeded. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Strata I think would be good too, I agree with anime and jhonen, but I think someone who's willing to go through all that stuff should be someone like... superman. ._. Because I would not be able to do it. .-. Nope.
We need the bat signal. xD Brian might be able to do it... if he had the time and the energy... and a red telephone that went striaght to denis if he came across a maybe problem. _________________

hear hear!
I definately vote those two to help out more, they don't get the credit they deserve for some things.
I sift through stuff sometimes and end up finding something and if it's really minor I'll just leave them a little note to fix it before they drive an admin crazy. (of course half the time I get them getting snippy at me bc I "dont have the authority" to remind them what the rules are <_<)
Oh, and I'm all for that favorites thing, I honestly don't see the point of having 100+ favorites, its not like you're going to go look at them all the time... |

Or a billion profile comments. Oh I hate that. With a passion keep these long lists of comments on their profiles. I regularly delete my profile comments when they become old or aren't of any importance to me. But people keep comments that are... years old. ._. _________________

I suggest a thread in Site discussion or maybe art general discussion, with the title "Rule Abuse Reports" where people can post links to pictures or accounts that go against any of FAC policies. After some investion and/or reviewing of the Anti-Abuse Team, the Aproval panel members, or any other group that may be in charge of that section, confirms that it IS breaking the rules it gets deleted and warned.
If a picture or member has lined paper pictures, wrong rotation, double pictures, double accounts, misplaced pictures, bad cropping and a lot of other rules that can be easily broken, someone will eventually find it and possibly post it on the thread, that way, everyone has the opportunity to help, finding pictures that break FAC's rules.
And I offer my services to help fulfill any of FAC's needs _________________

This guys a bit of a menace, I got flamed for the first time in FAC from this guy today, that's saying something.
I don't go to the mainsite often nowadays, I'm way too busy with other stuff, and drawing beside the computer is better accompanied with the forum rather than going around looking at art so... ...anyway.
Apparently this guy has been warned many times from other members that he was to be reported, I wonder how many complaints about him are in the abuse mailbox right now.
A site Police could just easily tell him off, freeze his commenting previlege for a day or two, seeing as he posted some art, he isn't here just to flame.

I support this idea, though i havent thought it through.
finishing up approvals...
every rule avy just mentioned, and pretty much every rule we have, has been broken in a span of less that 100 submissions back to back. Broken repeatedly. And sometimes by the same person. I've never rejected so many pictures at one time before. It would be great to have the help when we make mistakes. Not saying we'll slack off if we get this to happen. but it will help.
i dont know, maybe easter hunting made all these kids dumber. i had one attemp to submit a picture 3 times after i approved the first one. Others are so damn obviously stealing its not even funny. one guy complained in the sandbox about having to wait for his to be approved, when he just submitted it, saying there are 35 in the queue. Ok this last one was just me bitching a bit.
the only setbacks i can think of with having this Rule Abuse Reports topic would probably be members abusing the topic itself, or maybe an overload of work for us to do at once. _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |

Site police wont need to file abuse reports. You can usually just leave a comment on the picture and the user will fix it.
or has a non-humanly readable title
Titles are now auto formatted if they dont fit the rules.
(or the FAQ and the new policy -- hey denis? )
Hmm?

Ya know, you can just fix that yourself. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

Duh I usually do, but on rare occasions I feel I need to bop the user on the head somehow in order to communicate that "Hey, you submitted this to the wrong category!"
(And can't we do anything about people putting pics into cid=1?
