circa 1980, In the suburban slums of Houston. One night, my aunt lupe woke up from a baby crying somewhere in the house. She got up to go look for it, she checked all the rooms but never found who was crying. All the children were sound asleep. Another night, Lupe's son was awoken by the same cry, but decided not to mind it, and went right back to sleep.

the next night, my uncle heard the cry. He got up and looked around. None of the children were crying, yet he still heard it. He woke Lupe up. She heard it to now. They both decided to wake everyone else up to help find the baby. After a while of searching, they began to hear the cry coming from outside, in the backyard.

They all went out there. they followed the cry to a spot at the far end of the yard. Nothing was there. My uncle went to get the shovel, because he knew something really wrong was going on and he wasnt going to let this go.

the dead body of an infant child had been burried in my aunts backyard. None of my relatives knew the baby or from who it came. Officials took the body to be examined. The midnight crying stopped after the discovery.

Anyone else have any true ghost stories?

Why did someone bury a baby in their back yard. Wouldn't they have heard someone digging back there. That's the real freaky part of that story.

Might have been there for years. Kind of the Indian Burial Ground thing.

There were a few things in my old house. Doors slammed shut and wouldn't open for like an hour. No windows open or anything. Plus my mum told me about when I used to talk to the man in the room. f**k knows what that was about. Sad Uneasy

In our old house, we used to smell cigar smoke in the basement occasionally, even though no-one in my family smokes. It wasn't just residue from people having smoked cigars in the house before, though. It was fresh.
And it turns out that the guy who had lived in our house before he died liked to smoke cigars when he worked in his workshop, which was in the basement.

My mom said he was a friendly ghost, though. Very Happy

i'll ask for more details. My guess is that it was there awhile. I still dont know the state of decomposition, which would tell us how long it was there.

Yes you find out that James, it is a very interesting story.

Now let me regale you all with a story about my house. I can't remember every detail though but anyway. This was years ago when my parents were away and me and my sisters were being looked after by my 2 aunts. My aunt said she awoke one night, I wasn't by a noise or anything but she got up to get a drink or something and as she turned the counter she saw an old woman wearing black down the hall. My aunt was fightened naturally but went down to check incase we were being robbed. But the woman walked around the corner [my house is full of corners] and vanished without a trace or sound.

I think she saw the same woman in our house a year or two later when she was staying again but this time she was in the room when she woke up. And when my aunt looked at her she walked into the hall, but i don't think my aunt followed her that time ^_^

My house also does the regular s**t, weird noises and stuff but thats just the house itself.

My Dads house constantly makes ceaking and cracking sounds. But thats just the air in the walls. ^_^ Or thats what they say.

Apparently, during the English revolution, Ovlier Crommwell passed through my Dad's village, Wethersfield. He and my step-mother easily have the biggest house, in the village, but he stayed in the armed quarters at the bottom on the lane, next to the village hall.

In my room, there used to be a hole in the floor, had been since my step-mother moved in and since the person before her. But when they came to fill it in, they said that they needed to take some of the wood. The wood had signs of cloth, royal cloth, cloth the exact same colour as the picture of Oliver in the village hall. Believe what you want to believe, but he was in my Dad's house once. Very Happy not really scary, but if you consider the fact theres proof he stayed there during his short night in Wethersfield, a diary in fact, and the guards signitures on the documents.

Every now and then my house does some weird stuff. Sometimes at night we hear doors creak open even though me and my mom are the only ones on this floor. Once I turned on the shower and the steam from it gave a faint impresion of a face of an old man on the glass. My family doesn't have an old man in it.

My friend took a picture when she was in Mexico of a statue of Our Lady of Guadelupe Hidalgo, and when it was developed the exposure left the eyes of Jesus with his thorns behind the statue, and a dove shaped flame above her head.

Many places near my house are under survelance for hauntings, I've been to a couple of them and have felt energy so strong that I can't breath, and people keep asking me if I'm alright because I get so cold my skin prickles and my lips turn purple. That's also happened when I'm with my "pagan" friends and they perform a ritual or I do tarrot.

My house itself, in my old one my friend and I both thought we saw a ghost one night when we were little, and the house (normally uncreaking) was creaking nonstop. At my mommoms a few times we've seen a worn old man walking around with the unmistakable Native American face structure. Our development was established in the 1700s, and before then it was an Indian villiage that John Smith overtook. I've also thought I've seen dead pets/family every once in awhile, and a couple times someone or something I don't recognize.

most of that could just be you, if you have some sort of deep problem with ghosts and paranormal ideas. it could be the reason for the shortness of breath and cold skin, even cause you to imagine things that are not there.

of course, thats just the logical opinion.

There are some weird things that happened with my familly. not always just the house but I remember a few things that happened to me during last year.

I once was in the bathroom during morning and brushing my teeth when I heard someone calling my name. I opened the door and asked who it was. My mom was at her job and my sis and grandma were still sleeping so I just ignored it.
A few seconds later, I heard my name being called, asked again who was calling me. Still no answer..
Seconds later, I heard my name being called again. I called my grandma if it was her and now she was awake and said no. It did sound like it came from her room. I told my sis about it and she said she never called me (and she doesn't speak in her sleep)

Another thing that happened which completely freaked me out was that I saw a sort of silhouette in the kitchen. I went to check because I heard a noise before and went at my door (my room faces the kitchen). I froze there and it turned toward me. Even thought for a moment that it would charge because it crouched. It jumped behind the counter. I went in my room, totally freaked out and my sis asked what was wrong.
Went back to the kitchen afterward, turned on the light. There was nothing but the garbage was moved.
My sis said she saw it two weeks later but I don't really believe it.
My mother said it was a demon because I write stories having some in them and I like those.. Gave me the creep..

And it's nothing compared to what happened to my grandmother. She saw death. Not once but twice... and still lives.
And no, we are not crazy. Just that she's... sensitive to spirits or whatever and I inherited some of it ><
At least nothing happened recently.

Alright, this is going to be a long sentence. My mom's friend's daughter, husband, and three kids moved to Kentucky, right? Well, apparently, strange crap happens in Kentucky. O.o

Okay, so, every night, Tanya(the mother) unplugs the Tv, video games, and all that stuff so that the kids won't try to play them in the middle of the night. Well, every morning, they're plugged back in. The kids sleep in the same room as their mom and dad, so they couldn't have gotten out without their parents knowing.

Another incident in the house, candles. Tanya sometimes lights a candle in their room, because it helps Ashton, the youngest, get to sleep. No one's in the room, right? She'll walk out to throw away the blown-out match, and come back to the room. Fire's out. No one else is home during this.

Tanya and the kids were getting kinda freaked out about this, so they did some research on their house. Apparently, this kid had died in a fire at that house about 50 somethin' years ago.

Tanya's guess was that the ghost of the kid was becoming friends with the kids, since they claimed to have seen it a few times. She figured that the candles went out because the little kid didn't want them to die in a fire like he/she had. As for the TV and video games, perhaps the kid just wanted to entertain his/herself while the kids were in bed. Freaky, but true. XD

Not really a ghost story, but I have no idea what it is so it's kind of spooky.

The only place I can use the internet in my place is down in the basement. Whenever I'm down here past two in the morning I will occasionally hear a scrabbling sound like a fairly large animal (like medium-dog sized) running around upstairs. Not just the house settling or anything like that, very distinctive sound of claws and footsteps.

It's happenning right now, actually.

I live in a townhouse, so there are other people living on either side me, sharing a common wall. I figure that one of them must own the animal I'm hearing, it's just weird because the sound always comes from either directly above me (which is my house- no animals here) or the wall behind me (which isn't a wall I share with another house. nothing past this wall but dirt)

The poor ghost was probably very disappointed when it went to watch TV and there was no Jack Benny or Groucho Marx to be found.
