Somehow, that excuse never works.
As for my other friend, he already has the C.D as it came in the case, but he uses his C.D burner to create copies, but with ghost tracks.
Thing is, he uses a feature that gets rid of vocals, drums, bass, or guitar so you can hear the specific instrument's part and tab it accordingly.

Yeah, I'll make copies of CDs I had a hell of a time finding to keep 'em from getting scratched up. My Samantha 7 disc has a deep scratch in it (right during the Cover Girl solo Grr! ) and was my motivation to start doing that. Not that I couldn't replace the whole thing for about four dollars...

ok ok... so i'll occasionally burn whole cds... i'm sorry. yes, my friends and i are cheap and lazy. but i would definitely rather own the real cd than have a burnt one. especially if the band is more unknown or less popular, i try to make a point of buying their albums (unless i can't find their cd anywhere *twitch*likethestitchesandharveydanger*twitch*). i burn mixes for myself often, with songs i've downloaded or from cds i own. and i make back-up cds, too.

hmm as for downloading music, i don't think it's that big a deal for the really popular artists. i will download a song if it's the only one i like by the band and have no intention of buying the cd. however, downloading music is also a good way to get into a band and hear enough of their music to make me want to buy a cd. o i'll download rare/live/cover songs and stuff too, stuff that couldn't be found on a band's regular album. but i'd never download a whole album... that's not usually possible, anyway, since a lot of times just the singles and a couple other songs are available

Alex! I haven't heard from you in a while.
Live songs should be ok because you don't get to see them live a whole lot(I'll never be able to see RATM live). Hell, some of them offer free vids on their sites.

Personally I hate burned CDs. They always look so cheap and are in those thin little cases. I can't stand it. Personally, I think I can splurge on seventeen bucks to go buy my own copy. <_< I do sometimes make mixes from a bunch of CDs I own, but I don't have that many because I hate the way they look.

Yeah. I bust my ass to get some of these CDs, and I'd rather not have to do it again. Plus, even though I've never personally had a problem, if someone decided to take my stuff, I'd rather they end up with copies than several hundred dollars worth of albums. Even if I carry mostly originals except hard to find ones.

Where the hell do some of you people shop for your music? Or perhaps it's just because I buy old stuff and new stuff is jacked up? 'Cause I haven't spent more than $13 in a long time for a single disc. And I agree CDs you burn yourself look tacky. One of my friends has mostly burnt CDs, and I don't know...her CD case is just ugly. Bunch of names and album titles written in Sharpie. It bothers me.

And like I said, downloading itself there's no problem with. Bootlegs, out of print stuff, extreme rarities, knock yourself out. If you physically can't find it, you're not really cheating anyone out of anything. I've got tons of weird bootlegs on my computer. Audiogalaxy, before it what Rhapsody or whatever, was awesome for bootlegs and rare stuff. I miss that. Sad

Hehe..we have a program that prints out round labels to put on cds, neato pictures and everything! Still cheesy..but hey! Very Happy Prints out cool little booklets, too.

I like to make mixes and stuff for the car, or as small gifts for people. Normally I just use the cds I already have, because downloading sucks..the big one..majorly..dude..

I hate it when you make the mistake of burning one song onto a CD and while switching playlists to add on more, it come out of the burner, saying it's done and you can't add on anymore to that disk.

I have Easy CD Creator. Only thing it messes up on is it'll randomly freeze in the middle of it sometimes. Grr! And it won't pull songs off CDs very well, so if I want to make a backup I have to convert and save all the tracks as wav files. Bah.

The ESP doesn't seem to work on burned ones very well. I listen to In Utero, and it pauses 26 seconds into "Scentless Apprentice"...........

I just use the stuff that came with my laptop. Real player works well, gets songs off of cds mindlessly, and it's fast. No pauses no nothing. No having to convert everything manually.. QWK n EZ fo shizzo...bah..
