lol... I must have missed "Dartboard Eyebrow." That's so awesome. The only reason I ever got into One Pieve was because I was fascinated by Sanji's eyebrows, and it made me laugh that someone finally noticed... (and that other ramen cook guy said "I was distracted by your curly eyebrows!" XD)
Mm yes. I love One Piece art, it's so different. unfortunaely, I can't draw One Piece characters worth a crap. But I shall practise... I want to draw Sanji and Zoro posters for in my room :woot:
Speaking of Zoro... what does he DO on the ship? I mean, no body actually does anything except goof off, but they all have postions... Sanji's the cook, Luffy's the captain, Nami's the navigator, Usopp's the sharpshooter, Robin's the... er... drama instiller... but what does Zoro do? |

He sleeps! And trains.
But seriously, he's a swordsman, he fights. A lot of people recognize him to the the First Mate of the crew. He's often taking a semi-leadership role, admonishing the crew, gathering them up and bringing order when things are going awry.
While they're just sailing along in the ship, Sanji is always cooking, Nami is always navigating and checking the weather, Usopp usually is either putting ammo together, building a weapon or fixing the ship (that aspect may change in the future), Chopper is experimenting with medicine, but Luffy, Robin and Zoro don't really do anything that isn't recreational.
I keep getting requests to draw Zoro. They're kind of funny, actually, and make me want to draw him doing something unnatractive or goofy. I am a hopeless OP fan. I don't know what attracted me to it in the first place, but I started watching it around 2000, then started buying the manga in 01, and ya now I have a lot of manga and no room. Anyway. It never gets boring for me (though I skip the anime filler) and it always has arrsome fights and um... crazy laughs. I honestly don't know why I like it. It's just great. Totally not in the same league of crap like Naruto and Bleach. |
Haha...I remember that vaguely. When did he say that?
It was during Water 7. I think it was right after -spoiler- Usopp lost the money and Sanji was yelling at Zoro for not killing Franky's crew when he had the chance. Or something. I'm not actually entirely sure about that but I know it was sometime in the Water 7 arc. -spoiler-
And yeah, Luffy, Zoro, Robin, and Usopp's main jobs are to fight. I guess Usopp has a secondary job as the sort-of-carpenter. A lot of people say Zoro is the first mate.. and I guess that after Luffy he's next in charge but do they actually say that he's first mate? I don't remember that in either the anime or the manga. _________________ Go Yankees! |

That's what I thought when I first started watching it....but if you can watch through Arlong Park (and for the love of God NOT the dub) and still say that, I'd be shocked. But then no anime is for everyone. I just can't get enough of One Piece after 408 chapters and 262 episodes. All of a sudden the series just seemed short (fortunately it's not over)
@ London - I remember that scene...I didn't realize that was the time he said it. XD _________________ My dA ~ My F-C gallery~ My LJ |
I liked One Piece at the beginning, but now it's getting cheesy for me. It was pretty interesting, but things kept going on and then the main characters were crazy (not a bad thing) and then suddenly switching to heroic scene (insert cheesy hero music here). I used to watch it every saturday, but I now I don't even watch the saturday cartoons. They're getting too kiddish for me.
Some characters freaked me out, but that reindeer-dog talking creature with the hat was cute.
It's cheesy because the 4Kids makes it cheesy. And the music is always cheesy because 4Kids was too cheap to purchase the license for the original music score so they hired a couple of monkeys to pound on some synthesizers.
I don't even consider the dub to be One Piece. It's...something else. They're short 30 episodes of the original due to cutting and merging already. And they totally killed my favorite character.
Bah, there is an infinite amount of things I could rant about the dub, it's a never-ending train-wreck. It should never have been licensed by 4Kids because they have to butcher it to make it viewable to their standards.
And Chopper isn't a reindeer-dog, he's a reindeer that ate the human-human fruit, thus gaining the abilities of a human. XD

Wasn't it cheesier at the beginning...?
The one thing that bothered me most about the dub was that they messed up Usopp's thing... like, when they first met him. I can't rememmber what it was about it that they had messed up, but it really pissed me off. Ididn't watch One Piece anymore after that. Now I only read it.
I just finished reading about Robin's past. ;-; Poor Robin.
I got a Luffy action figure with streachy arms and a removable hat and shirt! .........I already lost the hat. But I love it anyway! So happy.
Lol Angela, why would people want you to draw Zoro? Sanji's the one who needs to be drawn. Doit.
Edit for lols, Kaku's new ability. |

Yeah, the show is cheesier in the beginning.
And dude, don't even get me started on how much they messed up Usopp. I'm not sure exactly what in particular that they're talking about, but besides the horrible voice he got, the worst thing they did was how they edited his fight with Chuu the fishman....They cut it down from 8 minutes to 2 minutes, and took every bit of seriousness out of it, changed all his dialogue...and turned it into a joke. And on top of that, they cut out the part where he hits him on the head multiple times yelling "USOPP HAMMA USOPP HAMMA" :/
Apparently they decided in the beginning that Usopp was to be the goofy comic relief guy that never has any character development. Because whenever he does, they go "oh crap we have to cut that!" Or maybe his actor just can't handle it...jeez, I fear what will happen when they get to Water 7.
See, there I go ranting about the dub again. So much anger! Grr! And they cut Little Garden and turned Laboon the whale into an iceberg! Grr! <_<
Kaku...nobody predicted that. I really hope Sogeking gets a chance to kick some ass. He's had a lot of great moments, but it still hasn't made up for all the times he got kicked around in the beginning. But wait until you see what happens to Chopper.
I did draw Sanji a couple of times, but just quick sketches, nothing I'm particularly proud of. :/ _________________ My dA ~ My F-C gallery~ My LJ |

They cut out Little Garden? Whattheheck. That changes what happens at Ennis Island (I didn't spell that right....) !
Yeah, so I just finished chapter 408... Kablah. How often do new chapters come out? :P
Now, I know I'm changing the subject somewhat dramatically here... but I just remembered this, so I wanna type about it.
Do you remember the part, right before Sky Island, (I can't remember the name of the island they were on) but Zoro and Luffy went into the town and Nami told them not to fight? I don't know why, but this part randomly depressed me... a lot. I almost cried. Which is very strange, because that part is pretty insignificant. The only other part that made me anywhere near that sad was on Water 7 with usopp and the boat. |

Yeah, they cut Little Garden...and they also cut the last episode of Arlong Park where they celebrated and Nami said goodbye to her village...they skipped the Apis filler arc (no big loss) and they went straight from crossing the Red Line, encountered a iceberg (which for some reason made a whale sound), and went straight to "Misty" Peak....and since there was no Crocus, they slapped some footage together and had Usopp say that he got the log pose (which they renamed "grand compass") from his dad who gave it to his mom(!)... And Sanji says that Zeff told him how to use the thing...that was the biggest load of bullsh*t I ever saw.
Gosh, you caught up fast. New chapters usually come out every week. But I think this is Goldenweek, so either we won't get a chapter this week, or it'll leak early and there won't be one next week. The new raw chapter usually gets posted on Thursday or Friday at Arlong Park, and someone on the forum translates it.
Wait, so what was it that depressed you? Because Luffy and Zoro didn't fight back? The reason why they didn't fight was the same reason why Shanks didn't fight the mountain Bandits. They were above it. They had no need to fight to prove their strength just for the heck of it. But once they hurt their friends, THEN they had a reason to fight. I didn't think that was insignicant, though. It shows that Luffy is indeed following in Shanks' footsteps. _________________ My dA ~ My F-C gallery~ My LJ |

Oda's story telling abilities impress me. I really like how it turned out when Luffy went to get the diamond head guy's gold back. _________________ Go Yankees! |

Yeah... I haven't actually been reading One Piece for very long. I remember in March, I read 100 chapters in a day. I was pround.

Yeah, I know, but it just was sad seeing them get the crap beat out of them, especially to such unworthy weaklings. |

Too many! I went through a big marathon reading of Skypiea...I think I suffered for it because I ended up not remembering a lot of stuff. Watching the fansubs now I'm finding myself feeling almost like I'm seeing stuff for the first time.

That's true, but like Blackbeard said, they won that fight. They weren't even hurt that bad, they got right up and laughed about it. And plus, Luffy DID go and totally pwn them when he had a reason to. That was the best instant knock-out ever. _________________ My dA ~ My F-C gallery~ My LJ |

lol, That's where I did my 100-in-a-day too. I think I finished me hundred when there was a flashback-in-a-flashback and it really confused me... then I realized I had read too much, so I went to bed. I read fast through manga like that a lot, but it doesn't really make that big of a difference to me, just makes it better for when I go back and read it all over again(which I WILL do... 5 days, I can do it lol), picking out all the details and stuff that I missed the first time.
That's true, but like Blackbeard said, they won that fight. They weren't even hurt that bad, they got right up and laughed about it.
Yeah, you're right. It was kind of a random part to make me sad. I guess it's just because I know that they didn't have to get hurt at all. Like, the fact that they just stood there... they didn't so ANYthing. At all. plus, Bellamy was just smashing their dreams right before hand.
And everyone laughed.

I probably cried during that part too, I'm such a sap, I cried for something in every story arc except the Davy Back Fight. The end of Luffy v. Usopp was probably the worst for me, and Chopper's past in the anime with all the sad music. Episode 126 gets me every time too, even if I'm just trying to make a little clip. Like when Vivi is screaming at the top of her lungs trying to get people to stop fighting and nobody hears her. _________________ My dA ~ My F-C gallery~ My LJ |

I never watched the anime past the Baratie, but everyone's past was terribly sad for me, too. I can't remember if i cried or not during Usopp vs. Luffy or not, but I know I at least came close... I don't cry a lot. I thought the whole war thing with Vivi was so sad. Especially Pell. I know he was a minor character, but I got attached. I do that a lot with the minor characters in One Piece, like Nero (in chapter 369?). He was just too cool. |
