Since I've been noticing that lately a lot of unknown bands threads have been popping up and getting bumped down the list, I made this thread, in wich you can post a small review about them, a link to their site, and other things.... I will start by posting a couple of them. The idea of this thread is to actually check the bands that other people post, not just advertise your own.

--------------------------------
Name: Gandhi
Genre: Rock, mostly progressive with different rythm varieties

Review: Gandhi is a Costarican vand, They play rock, loaded with distortioned guitars with rhytms from different parts of the world, reggae, latin, hard rock, classic rock, all incorporated in a great mix of progressive rock.
They have released 4 albums, including the newest one, CICLOS (2004), voted as the "Album of the year" in Costa Rica.
I recommend it to people who would like to hear something different from what they have heard, their whole lives. Its a completely different style than most things out there since 1995.......

Story: Luis, singer and group's main composer sings almost like a woman sometimes, its quite a unique voice, a little bit nasal, but really good. Federico, guitarist, met Luis in highschool. They played together in a highschool contest and won 2nd place, they have been working together ever since. Federico began playing inspired by the guitar rock music of the 80s and 90s, such as Van Halen and guitarist Joe Satriani. Massimo, the drummer, met Luis and Federico through a common friend, and they quickly found a common interest and taste in music. The bassist, Abel, knew the rest of the band from their highschool years. He began playing bass at age 16, inspired by Steve Harris and Cliff Burton, he joined the band just before their first recordings and added a little bit of darkness to their tunes.

at least a link?
--------------------

Name: Liquid Tension Experiment
Review: Its an instrumental rock project of Dream Theater members John Petrucci (guitar), Jordan Rudess (keyboard), and Mike Portnoy (drums), as well as progressive rock bassist icon Tony Levin of King Crimson. The band plays fast, fusion-based pieces similar to those of Dream Theater, if somewhat more jazzy, and without vocals. Its like a mix of metal and progressive..... good stuff.

I liked both Fragile and Sleeper, both mellow-ish definatly something to relax to, you know just think stuff over, or not think at all..

ANYway not so sure if they'd be cosidered local but check out Lydia I'd say EmoRock really, but they're placed under rock/indie I love their song Smile, You've won

I like them you should atleast listen to them, I really think they'd be hard not to like but thats just me. ^_^

Big Wreck
I'll be honest; I don't know a thing about music. And trying to write a review, or describe them myself, would be laughable. But Big Wreck is my absolute favourite band, and I don't think many people have heard of them. In fact, they only released 2 albums before they broke up, BECAUSE they did so poorly.

Their 2 CDs are "In Loving Memory of..." and "The Pleasure and the Greed". The lead singer, Ian Thornley, has since formed a new band, simply called Thornley. They have released 1 CD so far, "Come Again".
I don't think it's as good or unique as Big Wreck, but I still like it.

Here's a couple of reviews.

And you can listen to samples and customer reviews at Amazon.

The Pleasure and the Greed was the last of the 3 CDs I got. I was disappointed with it at first; it takes a few listen-throughs before you really start to love it.
I highly recommend Big Wreck. It's a shame that they're not around anymore.

Get Over It <3 Quality song.

Classic Case. I've been listening to them none stop. They're American and I went to the Give It A Name tour and met them after the show. I thought 2 of the guys were fucking great and they seemed to like us too. Such a great gig. They weren't so hot live but goddamn it, listen to thier album.

It's complete sex.

www.classiccase.net

Whole album is on there ^

Every song is awesome but listen to Sweet Alibi, One One Three Four, Sub rosa and Goner.

Get the rest tho

f**k it'z awezome.

I luv it.
