yo, I applied for a job at Sobey's (Big Canadian Grocer) and they told me to go work at the meat department. I remember CLEARLY writing on the application form that I wanted to be a cashier, but they still put me in the meat department. (half the people who were hired at the same time became cashiers)
A 7-foot guy that resembled Mr. Bin Laden got to be a baker, how cute.
After finishing two days of boring video orientation which somewhat resembed what you see at Disney channel at 3 am, I was sent to the meat department, and today was my second shift there. I learned:
-Mystery meat EXISTS
-The Difference between medium and lean ground beef is that medium ground beef isn't actually ground beef.
-Invisi-hairnet looks like lint of collected pubes.
-Muslims expect you to know the Halaal law.
-Jews expect you to know the Kosher law.
-Vegetarians believe that you can't sleep at night.
-There is a 20 percent chance that your meat have come in contact with foam-eze
and in addition, I didn't know that you had to clean the meat saw everyday. It's hell to take all the parts out to see that 2 pounds of meat sawdust is clogging up the machine.
Oh, and I get to see blood everywhere, which is always fun.
Anyone else with a job like this?

No, I work as a student. I'm only 13, but I just saw RV. I remember the scene where the main character's daughter sits down to eat organs and this guy serves it to her in a bowl and she says she doesn't eat meat, and he says there's no meat in it, just organs, and she stops eating and runs into that RV to find a toilet to spit the food out in and in the back of the truck, she sees all this meat hung up from strings and faints. That scene was disgusting. Yuck. I mean, I'm not a vegetarian, but that's still gross. _________________ I will be skinny! |

I had a friend who worked at the local meat store as an afterschool job. He had to hose out the basement every night where the floor and walls were covered in blood. Creepy. Bad enough what it is, but after hours, no one around, alone in a bloody basement...
EDIT: I, however, answer the phone, direct calls, file applications, and give tours of the school. No blood involved. And I start making my summer wage of $10 an hour in two weeks. Rawk. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

The meat department at this store by my house was fined for washing the meat with Pine-Sol and putting it back up for sale past its sell-by date. ((
I've never had to work around meat (thank god), but motorcycles are almost as bad. Certainly as many opportunities for self injury.

What kind of organs are there besides the ones that are meat? o_o? I mean, I guess eyeballs wouldn't qualify as meat but I think the girl would probably be more disturbed about eating eyeballs than a regular steak or something. |
You lucky little~!
I'm a secretary and I make minimum wage '=/
I make $7.50 during the school year. Well $8 next year.
$200 a week...I'll probably spend it all on ebay 'cause I suck like that.
Love my job, though, the tour part. Not so much the phones and filing. Work with awesome people. And the dean of admissions is obsessed with hair bands (ratt, faster pussycat, etc. at least). Which is funny 'cause he's a rather tall, intimidating man. Anyway. Yeah. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I work at Starbucks. I make coffee.
Coffee is better than mean for a variety of reasons, many of them having to do with salmonella. But we still have to deal vegetarian hippies.

I do surveying jobs with my brother. I have to find nails that were buried years ago and hold a pole with a prism on top of it on the nail while my brother uses a laser tripod to get all kinds of info.
It's not bad unless it's raining, then my hands go numb and it sucks. |

no, I don't get free ham :/ , but I should.
Extra and Lean ground beef actually comes in packages and we grind them.
Medium ground beef is when we gather all all the useless piece of beef left over from meat cutting and we chop them up, and grind them.
Seeing as parts of it isn't even beef...

Store doesn't have to care about me, it just has to give me my money. Only when I didn't get paid would I start hating. |
