An exageration!? Come on..........it's true.........you're saying i'd exagerate on a subject like this?
Oh.....severely underemployed.......no they're not.........they complain of it yet they always have about half the registers open (there's about 12). Then you got some people walking around who work there!
Policy? They should make it seem important to them! They don't learn from mistakes.....hold on......yeah the boss hates everyone (except for this 'Best-Person' or so they say........maybe they only care about that one person).
Hey if this happens to someone again.....It is Shoprite's fault because they didn't learn from a past incident.

Rolling eyes Give me a break.

You would honestly consider filing a lawsuit over SLIPPING IN A FUCKING PUDDLE?!

Everything wrong with america right there.

Hey, guess what, what if the store didn't even make the puddle? Maybe someone came in and spilled their drink or had wet shoes or some little kid pissed himself, in which case the employees may never have known it was there. You can't assume an employee made it and didn't put a sign down.

Your mother had an accident. Period. Would it have really made that much difference if there was a sign? I see tons of people slip even with them down because, I know this may be a shock, wet linoleum is hard to walk on in bad shoes. That's why they put the signs down. But even then, a lot of people slip. Boohoo for them, you pick yourself up and move on.

Jesus christ, save the courts for the time someone breaks into your house and steals everything you own, k? Or strangles your mother and leaves her in a ditch somewhere. That's what they're for. Not for people like you to make a quick buck by blaming everyone else for your problems.

And of course a lawyer said you had a case, that's how they make money. That's why you see all those lame tv commercials for lawyers who specialize in car accidents, job related accidents, etc. A lot of people have perfectly valid cases where they won't be able to work ever again without intensive therapy. A little broken tailbone hardly compares and is ridiculous.

Actually yes....a sign could have made a differnce.......since employes are allowed through the 'Exit' door.....if the sign was there she could have headed back.....and went in through the exit.

would've, could've, should've.

Reality is, a sign probably would have made no difference. The only reason you say she would have gone back is you know that she slipped and fell. 99% of people who see those signs just walk on through anyway.

Whether she would've gotten hurt or not is rather inconsequential. The point is you're being greedy brats who want to blame innocent people for your mistakes or bad luck and waste the court's time. The mere title of this thread is the exact attitude that leads to people going to desperate measures to exploit lawsuits. Putting body parts in food, suing over hot coffee, all the while there's more than enough genuine criminal cases.

And as was said, there is no law saying they have to put up a sign. In fact, the sign probably wouldn't have even been the best method of complaint because it's just a common courtesy, not a requirement. What you would argue is that by not cleaning it up, they created a hazardous environment that led to the injury. Which they didn't. They probably didn't even realize it was there.

Suck it up, pay the bills for your mom's bad balance, and pray YOU'RE never the victim of some sue-happy lunatic that wants to take advantage of someone.

And whoever said they have insurance for such things is correct. You'd have probably gotten a hundred bucks and a gift certificate for $1 off laundry detergent.

I used to be one of the people who had to put up those signs. Fact is, we're not always informed on all the spills, and there are usually only two signs around the store. Sometimes the guys in the isles take them and use them for those spills, and you're left with no signs to put up.
Plus, if someone slips it's their own fault for not paying enough attention. Besides, if your mom didn't have a permanent injury, you guys should feel lucky, not cheaped out of something. You wouldn't have been payed anything above the amount for the medical bill anyway, because it's not something that would dramatically change your life.

I'm glad that in Canada, things like car accidents aren't even sue-worthy. People tend to think that whenever they get hurt, they deserve money -_-

Some lady at the store I worked at almost tripped on the carpet, and started going into a speech about how she could have broken her neck and everything. Frankly, I felt like saying "Boo hoo, maybe you'll watch where you're going next time." It's not like it was my fault she almost tripped on a carpet '=/

People just...ugh. They always want someone else to blame for accidents ~_~

Hey, hey, hey! The bottom line is, Erdey's mum still could've been pemanently damaged, or whatever. It's not like it was her fault, and I really don't agree with you. Like I said, what if it was someone with a disability, or something?

Think of it this way. People only sue because it's an easy way to get money, which is wrong. Any person could easily go and hurt themselves and get money, but really...
The shopping place probably doesn't have the money to pay every person who falls and hurts themselves. They're a store, they're not made of money.
If you owned the store, I'm sure you'd see what I'm getting at here. If someone is at fault by tripping in your store...and they recover fine, do you really think they should be sueing you?

And then going and blaming it on the people working there is annoying. When I worked at Superstore, people were blaming ME for the carts not working! How was it my fault?
Then they were yelling at me because I wasn't working behind the cash register. I wasn't even a cashier -_-

I mean...I'm not saying "It's all her fault she fell, etc etc she should be blamed blah blah". I'm saying, it's like...if you were having a yard sale and someone tripped on one of the things in your yard and sprained their ankle, and recovered. Would it be right for them to sue you just because they accidentally tripped?

'Kay :3
You don't have to think differently, just opinion~
Opinion sounds a lot like onion.

Er...yes.
I just wouldn't want someone trying to blame another person for an accident >=/
It's an accident, not an intentional thing~

Ahh, I see. That's still kind of a decision on a moment of passion, though.
I do understand that it would be very painful, too! I could only imagine o.O

But I don't think finding a lawyer and trying to sue immediately is a good idea, still. I mean, since she did recover...there would no longer be a point in sueing o.O
But, wait a while, it usually recovers.

And, even if she did sue I'm hoping it would only be for the money that she used to pay the medical bills. That's the only real reason I see for sueing, is to make up for the money that the person spent trying to pay things off related to the injury.

Ah, yeah...a sense of humour is vital to get along with others!
Wait, you weren't being sarcastic and implying I have no sense of humour, right? o_o!
Or were you talking about onions?

Yeah..she said she would use it for medical bills......anything left over could go towards normal bills.
