Uplaoding Question

Hi, I tried to upload an image which is more than 20 cm in hight but it appeared broken....so I had to resize it to upload it properly....anyone got an idea why that happened??

I would'nt know but sometimes pics are too big to load so your browser gives up and it appears broken...well thats what mine does for really big pics, not sure about yours though.

Theres several reasons and i'm too tired to name them all.

Tip: Always refer to your image's size in pixels, not "inches" or "cm" -- because pixels are the only dimensions that matter to a web browser.

You mean if I reduce the quality of the picture using Photoshop, it'll upload without appearing broken?

Don't reduce the quality, just shrink the pic.

Define "shrink"! Do you mean I should decrease width and height in the pixel dimentions section or the document size section, and what's the maximum size that would not break an image when it's uploaded?

I think strata said make your picture refered to as pixal dimentions. Instead of having 16 cm by 20 cm have it refered to as 1204x1708 pixals etc. Or something like that.

Size you need is less then 300kb in datasize, and I don't think there is a limit to size dimentionwise, but most large pics are resized to 800x600 pixals thumbnail.

Absolutely [b]YES![/b]

:theteach: [i]The term 'pixel' means "picture element"; it is the fundamental unit of measurement for all raster images.[/i]

Pixel dimensions are what determines how much data (e.g. filesize) the image will require on disk.

Ignore the "Document Size" part, it only affects how large the image appears [i]when printed[/i] out.

Breloom, you're not being very helpful. D:

Assuming you have Photoshop, go to Image > Image Size and make sure that both of the resize boxes say "percent". Then enter either "50" or "66.6" into the boxes. Then hit okay, and your image should be resized. :3 Save it and try re-uploading it.
