Hmm... just curious, where do you read One Piece, Angela? The site I read it off of has up to 408, but another site I read manga from only has up to 403...
Well, originally I read from NULL, but then they moved to IRC. There's also Stoptasmo, but I don't know if they've updated recently. I don't like the msn group scans because they're small. Ever since I've been caught up, I got out of the habit of reading scanlations and I look at the raw Japanese scan with a translation script. Stephen's scripts are the best ones. His early chapters aren't as good and have a lot of bad language, but he's going back and redoing all of them.

StopTazmo does update regularly but they're behind by a few chapters. Hm.

Looks like they stopped at 403. I think that's because they take their files from NULL and NULL stopped at 403 for the time being, at least.

Somewhere around the 600's.

Probably.

That's chapters, by the way. I have no idea on the anime. The way it's going now, maybe 400 or so.

600 seems too soon, as odd as that sounds. 800 wouldn't surprise me. But who knows, maybe it's closer to the end than we think. It all depends on 1) how long Oda stays into writing and 2) how long the manga continues to stay a success. Neither points seem to be in danger at the moment.

600 is nearly another four years... I should hope it's wrapped up by then. o_o It'll be ten years old next year.

I could keep reading One Piece for another 4 years. Time flys, you know. I don't know where the last 4 years went. WTF? There are longer mangas already out there, afterall.

Well... if it's going to be that long, it might as well just become another KochiKame. Oda is younger so he could probably outlive the author of that... and OP will gain the title of "longest damn manga ever".

I could probably read it for a while yet, too. It's addicting. Very Happy

Well, I don't see One Piece going on forEVER, becuase the main idea of the story is to find this treasure called One Piece...that's the goal of the story and the title, so if they don't ever find it, it would be kind of silly. So I imagine that Oda has already envisioned how the story will end and is working his way towards it, but finding lots of other adventures inbetween in the meantime since people enjoy it and it seems he enjoys it too.

I'm concerned where the story will go after the current storyarc, since they're all going to be #1 on the WG's sh*tlist and they may not be able to just go hang out on various populated islands anymore. :/

The anime version stinks.

The manga is more exciting.

The dub anime or the Japanese version? Because there isnt much of a difference between the original anime and the manga.

I tend to favour the manga over the anime but for One Piece I'm really undecided. It's.. for lack of a better word.. fun to watch the manga move and in colour. It's also kinda cool to see the anime mirror the manga exactly.. same camera angles and all.

Yeah, they do that a lot...they pull panels right out of the manga and animat them. Most of the time I'm happy with the anime, although occasionally the animation is very poor. Episode 254 had to be the worst animated episode ever. Laughing Then 263 was excellent. I wish Toei would be more consistent.

I turned CN on last night and I saw about 5 minutes of the dub doing that awful filler about the Sand Pirates in Alabasta. I turned it off thinking I'd rather impale my head with a screwdriver. Fillers are bad enough, fillers + 4kids = Banghead

I watched the show a few times... it was okay. I'm not a huge die-hard fan of it, but if it's on and I've nothing else to do I don't mind watching it.

You have nothing to say, you don't contribute to the conversation, why would you post? Why? Why?

I personally prefer the manga, even over the dub (though I've never actually seen it) just because I don't like the animation style. Plus, seeing people in colour after the bw manga is weird. Like, I never would have guessed Pell was white until I wanted to look up pictures of him for an MSN display pic.

This is a thread about One Piece, not the thing that comes on Cartoon Network. Laughing I love both the manga and the anime. I just can't take the dub. I tried watching for 5 minutes last Saturday and I decided I would rather impale my head with a screwdriver. Part of that was also because it was a crappy filler episode.
You never can tell with those colors, I thought Franky was going to be blond with a blue shirt until he appeared on a color manga volume cover.

BTW, in a couple of weeks when episode 264 airs (In Japan), there's going to be a new opening and ending. And finally, it will air 3 weeks in a row without a break. Haven't seen that in a while.

Oh. Sorry about that.

I've never actually read the manga, so I guess I don't have much to say in that area. But the show was okay.

You should try watching the fansubbed anime. If you think the dub show is OK, then you'll like the unbutchered version much better.
I'm sure there's some things you can say, though. Like what is it you like, and what is it that you don't like that keeps you from liking it more?

I just don't see the point of people coming in and saying "I like it" or "I don't like it". At least give some reasons.
Ya rly. He's funny coloured. I didn't know what colour he was until you linked me to the Sogeking thing.
I thought Sogeking's cape would be black instead of red. :)

There have been some occasions where the anime colored someone differently than Oda did, or they got to it before the colored manga cover came out.
Oda originally colored Usopp's slingshot brown and Nami's Clima-Tact red, but then changed it because of Toei's decision.
Wanze's hair was blond on the manga cover, but the anime made it white.
