I read some mangas and saw some animes too. But I noticed that sometimes the anime is almost completely different from the manga of the same name.

I'll take 2 examples : first, love hina: I read maybe 6 volumes and I saw 1 or 2 anime of it. The storyline "seems" to be kept all along, but the characters have something not like in the manga: maybe you notice that Keitaro has strange hair! lol! Razz And I don't really recognize Naru's face... I liked the manga, but in the anime all seems to go too fast. Is it just me?

My second example : Naruto. The anime is almost like the manga! One of the only difference would be that they added many filler episodes. The other little difference : I notice more Shikamaru, but sometimes the characters are not really well placed so their face looks... a little horrible For that, again, I think that the manga is better.

Do you know other manga and anime like these?

A lot of the time I find mangas better. Simply for the fact that it's condensed and not as bloated as a lot of animes become. Dragonball, Yu-Gi-Oh, Hellsing. There's loads.

And the differences sometimes annoy me as well. *SPOILERS* Full Metal Alchemist for example. Tucker gets killed by Scar, but not in the anime. We never see Scar kill Basque Gran either. Then there's Toji in Evangelion. The Dummy Plug does more than just cripple him in the manga. ^_^

I really, really don't like anime. All I really have to say is... One Piece. I could really just leave it at that.

But I won't. I don't like how the animation style changes in most anime, it always looks uglier. (exception: Inuyasha.) The artists are more likely to make mistakes in anime, since you have to draw way more. Plus, in manga, since it is in black and white, you can imagine the colours yourself, which often makes things look better in your own mind. Like, for the longest time I thought Gaara was blond... and I still don't know how Chouji ended up with brown hair :s

Also, they often edit things so that it is more suitable for the general audience. Like take out blood, cover up nudeyness, etc. etc. But some of it just doesn't make sense... like how they changed Orochimaru's gender. No point. (They wanted to change Haku's gender too, but we won that battle. Cool) And how they turned that whale in One Piece into a mountain... that still makes a whale noise.

And voices! Mind you, this only really effects you if you read the manga previous to watching the anime. The voice actors can make or break and anime. Usually the latter, sadly. Look at Usopp, Sanji... or from Naruto, Dosu, Temari. Nnnghnnnh.

(Yes I know my examples were mostly from Naruto... what can i say, I'm a Narutard. Razz)

Usopp, Sanji? Don't get me started on them! Those were very bad voices......
I also prefer manga.
They don't put most parts in the anime......which sucks.

Manga all the way, mostly because I hate things you have to have electricity to do anything with.

Oh, manga all the way for me. The images are higher quality (obviously, because you don't need multiple frames), they're not packed with pointless fillers, and they're cheaper.

I also like to look at the images as art, not just read it ass kawaii still animu. They're great for reference for certain things. They're also portable, so you can bring them anywhere. Like the car. :/

The storylines are -usually- better in them, too.

Anyway, as for differences in certain ones? Nearly all of them. I don't think I can name a series where stuff wasn't changed.

ive noticed that alot, i hate mew mew power for the same reason, they made it ridicoulous, like they have never heard of the manga, i think mia ikumi went wrong with that because the manga is way better than the anime of mew mew power. ive read the first 3 books of CHOBITS and i loved them, i havent seen the anime, but i can predict that the manga is better than the anime

Mew Mew Power was the dub, not the original anime, Tokyo Mew Mew. Except, I haven't actually read the manga for the anime so....

The manga is totally better than the anime. Love the Saiyuki manga for it's art is way better than the anime, but I'm not fond of the excessive amount of swearing in it. The violence is ok, I like anime violence, and the nudity is...scary. The only part I liked that involved skin was when Kougaiji was shirtless  ...

Sorry, fangirl moment. I hate those. Can't control them sometimes. WTF?

Really, the only Manga and Anime of the same name I've watched/read are the dot hack:LotTB books. I noticed that in the anime they've changed some of the clothing to be lesss revealing, and the've changed alot of the text, and story aswell. I, too, prefer manga over anime.

SOME (Yes a few) animes aren't really that bad... I cant really get into mangas that much. I do love to read, but I dunno know what it is about mangas, but they don't catch my attention much. But I can sit down and watch an anime for a good while, like the awesome cowboy bebop or lupin the third, trigun, tenchi muyo, or Samurai Champloo. (That ends my 2 cents for anime) XD

I think Cowboy Bebop is one of those few instances where the anime is superior to the manga.

Most anime have a manga, but there are quite a few that don't.

If I can recall correctly, the manga for CB was made after the anime.

Zoids is another one of those instances of an anime being superior to a manga. D: Of course, I'm probably the only person here who likes that series... Very Happy

I use to watch Zoids, like the first season was probably the best. I think after that I stopped.

Good times.

Are there any games that have a manga made after them? Or a game that was made about a manga? I know Kingdom Hearts has a manga, and of course .hack has a manga, but it also has a game and anime too.. do you know of any others?

Nearly every mainstream shonen (and a few shojo) anime/manga has a game made after it. They usually only come about if there's an anime. I don't think I've seen any games based off of things that are JUST manga, even if it is a popular series.

But just as an observation, I noticed that the GetBackers games have the same art style as that in the manga, not in the anime, so those games may have actually been based off of the manga.

I know that some anime/manga start out as games. Pokemon and Digimon, to name two...

And we can't forget the trainwreck that was the Final Fantasy anime...

For me, I'm like the reader type, so I mostly stick with the manga... but there are some animes that are better off without em *coughcoughDigimoncough*
