Aw, then you don't know me very well. I censor 99% of what I think on FAC. Because there's children and fragile egos around. That particular topic is making me slip, but I'll bite my tongue for Denis (who, by the way Denis, took that particular bit too seriously. C'mon now, you should know better. You only like me when I'm dealing with your problem children. )

Fact is, rude as it was, the point still stands. You've got a few professionals and potential professionals telling you "This is good. We like this. This is a site we'd like to post our art on." And you're taking advice from children. Children who have no interest in art aside from scribbling on their math notes. [i]That's fine[/i], they can scribble away, but are those the people to cater to?

I'm not pissed about the colors (aside from the skin option, that blows because I know the rest of the skins will be terrible), I'm pissed at how poorly this has panned out. I waited [b]3 years[/b] for the new FAC and an opportunity to really make some worthwhile changes, and here we've got half the people running off in the opposite direction, completely oblivious. Fingers in their ears, "lalalateh3m0suxxorzbooooowhiteandblueplz"

I love FAC. I do. The people not so much these days, but it's still the best place for fanart, and sometimes you just wanna hear "OMG SO K00L!!!!". I wouldn't have left my art here if I thought it was worthless. And I wouldn't have moderated the chats/forums if I thought it was a waste of time. However, I did it under the assumption, from various conversations with Denis and others, that the intent was to raise the quality of the site and make it a better site than middle school doodles, so everyone could enjoy browsing the site regardless.

But I guess I'm just sad that didn't turn out to be true, because most of the people I expected to be behind that goal are, whether they realize it or not, completely contradicting it. And sure, maybe it seems overdramatic for a bloody background color, but this was my [i]one hope[/i] of what to get out of being FAC staff, to help Denis make FAC a better and more serious site that everyone else wouldn't fuckin' laugh at like retarded children trying to draw mickey mouse.

I thought...and forgive me for thinking so, because it seems to be a mortal sin... that the needs and opinions of professional artists outweighed that of kids and hobbyists. The kids really aren't going to care. They'll throw a tantrum for awhile over [i]any[/i] change, but we didn't offer a mirror of the site with no approval panel, for those who wanted to look at ugly, stolen, misplaced work. People just like to complain. They're far more likely to shoot off an email if they hate something as opposed to liking it, and no matter what you did, with so many members, lots of people would hate it. It's personal aesthetic opinion, but since everyone has perfectly valid colors they love and hate, that's [i]no basis[/i] for an art background.

So. You can post your bad art on your bad skins and enjoy. It's unfortunate that FAC came so far and so close to what I hoped it would be with the new submission page and profiles, only to be stopped short of its potential. It is infinitely better in some regards, but not in the areas that will make the biggest change.

If we're gonna have a pretty new submission page...and nicer gallery pages...but the same tired content...I'd might as well post on the site I was PM'ed today on DA that has a bad layout but is exactly the content I do and is mostly of a high quality. If you can't see that I and Diane and (forgot the name, forum too slow to check ) are right... well, have fun with the inuyasha drawings.

Everyone does have an opinion. Some are just better than others.

Oh, and I have nothing to say to the little elf who didn't really respond to anything I said, just defended their own poor statements.

And I still demand a bloody concrete, music playing, booze advertising RK skin because it would make me happy to look at, and I wasn't aware that was what we were going for all along. I would've made sketches and sent you swatches.

if an artist is serious then they will use a dark nuetral color scheme as an option. i'm sure the default color scheme will be this one we are using now, for logged out and unregistered members. so you proffessional and wannabe professional artists can quit whining.

whats the problem now? letting the kids get to you? the kids need to shut their trap because they'll get their light blue FAC in time. for now, you and all your too-good for FAC friends have what they want. you're just as bad as the kids you're bitching about.

while i am at it... if fallen would design an alternate color scheme with the blood concrete and RK stuff minus the music... i'd kinda love

and layz should be given the opportunity to redesign her logo before taking it off.

Bah, stopped reading this halfway through because i stopped caring about Fallen and Layz randomly insulting everyone who ever existed and pretending it had to do with the conversation, but I'm gonna post my opinion anyway.

I must need a new monitor, because everything is too dark to see now. I need to highlight everything I want to read. I can't find anything, and everytime I try to go to my profile, the window freezes. I miss my lists. I hate thumbnails. I'm probably the only person who never used thumbnails on the old version, but bah, I hate them. Give me my lists back ;-;

The new forums, too? I miss the old emotes. Sad that the post counts are reset, I worked hard to get up to 360. But at least now not everyone hate thousands of posts, so it doens't matter as much. I can't find an avatar small enough to fit the less than 0 kb rule. Not that I have any avatars that are 64 x 64 anyway, since I always resized my pictures to 125 x 125 for the old site.

In conclusion, I have to say this: while it's true that we don't have many amazing artists on this site, do you remember why most of them came here? Do you remember why mostly everyone came here, rather than DA? Because a lot of people thought that DA was too complicated to go on, and that you had to be a [i]really great [/i] artist to post your work there. They came here because it was more relaxed. But now we got rid of everything that set us apart from DA. Why would people come here now? What's the appeal? What do we have that DA or whatever other art sites out there don't have?

I can see myself never going on the mainsite again, after this makeover.

I'm a little bit tired of all the flak about the color scheme too.

After all, the point of multiple color schemes is that they'll be [i]options[/i]. Sure, neutral tones are best for contrasting against the artwork, but (to be frank) they're about as lively and welcoming as the cold hard facts of color theory on which they're based.

It's hot and you know it. Could use the little one pixel red highlights, but I'm too lazy for that. Spent all my effort on the logo. See, now that would make me happy. But it's god awful, ain't it?

This is directed to the_stef. No clue who you are, but wtf? You say I'm randomly insulting people about this situation. Who have I insulted? Nobody. Try being the person who designed the new layout and having to see nothing but complaints about the colors. Not very nice to work a year on something just to get sh*t on for it. Have I mentioned I was preg the entire time I was working on it. Could barely look at the monitor without barfing... yeah I think I mentioned that already...

I agree with everything fallen says. Well most of it. I'm sure she has some opinions she hasn't shared When it comes to color schemes etc, I'm more inclined to listen to pro artists than a bunch of teens drawing crappy pics of inu and sonic.

No I'm not. I am taking the advise of the experanced serious artists (and not just you) for the main site which 99% of people will see. I will do what I can to make sure the other layouts are not hidius colors.

3 Years? Its only been in development about a year and a third.



Dispite what some may thing, the multiple skin idea isn't something new. It has been in the design plan from the start. Even the old FAC had multiple skin support -- it just never worked correctly.
