What the title says! Vote for AC/DC, KoRn, Metallica or Kiss!

Go to "ACDC or Metallica" If you've only heard those bands.

Iknow, stupid polls = happiness

Whose happiness? Confused

And to put three legends with a pissant little trend like Korn...makes me wonder what we're even supposed to be voting on.

Whatever it is, AC/DC probably wins.

Metallica was always more original than AC/DC because they tried new stuff, even if it sucked.
Metallica, out of those choices.

That's like saying a person who tried drawing with his toes and sucked at it makes better art than a classical painter just because it's "new". Not a valid argument. If it's new and good, well good for them, but everything new Met have done has been utter crap.

AC/DC...do what they do, and they do it the best. I feel like I must have already written this in the other thread, but the only reason to evolve...or try something new/experimental...is if you feel that's what you should be creating. Some artists do it very well...Bowie...and define themselves on always progressing. Bowie always created what he felt like with no regard as to whether fans would continue to like it.

Met on the other hand...have been lackluster commercial garbage for well over a decade.

AC/DC does all sound the same. But they aren't catering to a commercial market, you don't see Brian and Angus making the VH1/MTV rounds to promote their stuff. They do what they do, they do it the best, and people eat it up. They don't have to be progressive as long as what they create is consistent.

KISS don't get credit for anything besides brilliant marketing and a campy show.

I think that change is better than repetition. If repetition is what you do best, then go on and do so. It gets old fast. I'm assuming there's a reason we don't hear a lot of AC/DC's new stuff on the radio.
Metallica can still maintain an audience despite their experimenting in style. It's not as though they're totally devoid of musical talent. They can make a sound that can keep old fans, attract new, and filter out the people who think it's a bad move. Apparently their new stuff is supposed to be their "redemption" as well as supposed final album. Only time will tell.
AC/DC didn't really change over time, and it makes their stuff predictable and dull.
Agreed on KISS.

That doesn't address the issue. Metallica are evolving into bad music. St. Anger was garbage. Not worthy of the $3 used bin garbage. They aren't fuckin' Bowie, who regardless of extreme shifts of style has maintained a high level of quality. Heart's Filthy Lesson was just as good as Suffragette City. If Met did that, then evolution could be a plus for them, but it's not. They're experimenting and failing miserably at it.

You don't hear AC/DC on the (main) radio for the same reason you don't hear Aerosmith or the Rolling Stones. They don't need to whore themselves to draw a crowd and sell records (Aerosmith make a couple meager attempts, but mostly just for the hell of it). AC/DC (and the like) gained their fame before the video boom and have hung onto it flawlessly. Their shows sell out in 3 minutes. 3 fuckin' minutes after all these years. The equivalent of current gn'r ticket sales without the 10 year build up.

Which is why I said artists should only evolve if their creative focus shifts. If what they're doing isn't what they want to do anymore. You may find AC/DC boring, but I find Metallica to be a waste of everyone's time with their bad experimentation. Neither are valid points. Bottom line is, AC/DC have maintained their high quality and Metallica have not.

Point taken.
Although to the contrary, I hear newer Aerosmith on the radio here a good bit of the time, and it doesn't sound the same. The only reason AC/DC gets a negative rap from me is because they haven't evolved, and they haven't devolved. They've maintained a level in which they're just the same.
I don't necessarily think that quality suggests recycling old rhythms and riffs.
I think that Metallica's quality has suffered ever since the Black Album. If this new album doesn't save them, it'll be their ruin.

Radio is a regional thing. I can hear just about anything on LA radio. Some towns' main stations play easy listening crap. Others jazz. Just depends on the market. And with XM/Sirius, hell...

That's why I go by television, which is more or less the same for everyone (by country). Sebastian Bach is all over VH1. Along with Korn etc. Aside from a couple nostalgia shows, AC/DC are nowhere to be found. But they've never been heavy on the videos and never had a need to. Nor has Aerosmith (who very clearly have evolved, wasn't saying they haven't).

I wish I had cable...
I keep a close ear to our local rock station though. The band that my band supports and will be opening for in August may start to receive some airplay, and that'd be cool to just hear 'em knowing we could follow 'em up with the help from a decent studio.
I think AC/DC was supposed to release a double album. Might evolve a bit with it, I don't know.
