if you're working with the mouse, you can use the polygon lasso tool to section off hair-thin areas for shading and highlights. You'll get get a hard edge, but if you work with it a bit you can make it look more natural.

You could also try this site to download photoshop brushes that do hair texture quite well. I think series 23 might be the ones you want, but poke around a bit, there's a lot of good stuff there.

Just a suggestion, but it looks a lot better on 3/4 view potraits if you don't let the far eye touch the side of the face... It just makes the face look more three dimensional. I hope it's not unsolicited advice... it's just something our old character design prof relentlessly pounded into our heads.

@ Joou, I think that the bridge of the nose is a little bit too wide, but other than that I find it quite cool, the texture on the mask side is amazing!

since the new site format is up I dont see a quarter of the wip's posted on this thread. are we not able to post pics along with out comments now? and why are some wips still on here but not others? if we cant post scraps (wips) here there should be an area like DA in everyones individual galleries to post them there so then we can put a link to them in here.

I am currently working on two pictures. One of them's a poster for this Expo Night in my school and the other one's for a magazine in my friend's school. So...I cannot tell anyone my ideas yet because it will just ruin the mystery. Y'all just have to wait!! Laughing

For a first try its coming out pretty cool, I am going for the "No lineart" thing....
I know its flawed, the ears, hair and neck are still messy, while the tatoos and his left eye is still undone... what do you think?

I used to love that book as a kid! I think I still have it laying around... somewhere... Very cute, Blian. Though he looks like a vampire. 8D

Anyway, this started as a sketch of some random angel on the back of one of my discarded art assignments (lawls, watercolor paper), and then I realized the hair kinda looked like that of Thief Bakura. So good for him, ANOTHER fanart in his name giving him random angel wings.

Oh well, on to new things that will probably never be finished. There are few things better than Ryan O'Reily (aside from, ya know, Teddy n' all). And what is Ryan without little Cyril. Brothers in Oz, brothers in real life, delightful. "A Day In The Death" and the finale get me every time. But I won't spoil them, in case someone out there is planning on watching Oz at some point. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, Ryan O'Reily on the left (Dean Winters...not that you can see his face. He was in SVU and Rescue Me) Cyril O'Reily (Scott Winters) on the right. Cyril's retarded and sentenced to death...though he doesn't know it. Ryan's just a lifer. Cute, no?

WIP of the guy in my sig and avatar. I feel like I've been using the same style too much as of late, so I figured I'd mix it up a bit. Also, tablet practise is good for your soul.

Man, Ryan's my favorite 'cause he's the biggest liar and self serving jerk in the whole place, will turn on anyone to get what he wants, yet all the art I've done of him has been the last little parts where he's torn up over his brother. I need to do some ass kicking O'Reily art. Confused

Preferably half naked.
