You'll find decent fics on Livejournal communities, but your best bet is someone's personal site.

Though, neither are as rewarding as finding a great fanfic amongst crap at FF/AFF.net

I whole-heartedly agree. It's been so difficult to find them, and yet, when you do, it's like you're ready to sing the Hallaieha (sp) chorus.

Have you found any good ones, Brad, or is the land barren?

Freedom of Speech fanfiction is a great archive however the site is moving to a new server right now and it is temporarily down. you should check it out when it goes back online. http://www.fosff.net

I feel on top of the world if I can find a fic with my favourite characters in it anywhere... no matter how badly it's written.

Volt Krueger fanfics are hard to find ;_;

Of Bouncer infamy. There are maybe three stories about him out there. A really well done one on Talya Firedancer's site (so... um... slash ensues), A decent one on Dog Street Station, which is now defunct, and a horribly lame one on some site with a bright pink background, wherein the author seems to have removed his testicles and makes him break down in tears and emorants in every chapter.

Other than that there are just little paragraph long joke fics. Like "VOLT VS CAP'N CRUNCH: RAMMSTEIN SONGFIC" and "VOLT HAS SO MANY HOLES IN HIS FACE PEOPLE THINK HE IS CHEESE AND EAT HIM. THE END."
