Fanfiction Suggestions

I am working on some major improvements to fanfiction and I am open to suggestions.

First set of changes (cleanup) done just now.
* About a dozen stories with no title renames to 'Untitled';
* 1234 chapters with no title renames to 'Untitled';
* 629 empty chapters (no text -- failed submissions) deleted.

Some of the major changes already planned:
* New more powerful rating system
* More submission options -- including non-upload ones.
* Genres

It sounds good...and the genre thing would especially be helpful to the cause. However, what do you mean by "submission" options?

Pages is probebly not worth doing, but I would like to add a spell checker. Hard tho.

I'm thinking, when you click on a multi-chapter story, maybe it should just show a list of chapters rather than the first chapter.

And I'm not sure how best to handel the interface of showing comments.

That strikes me as a really good idea, that way people can go right to a chapter they were searching for. I'd have to agree w/ Raz on a spell checker...or maybe a rule prohibiting more than, like, ten mispelled words. Some of the things I've seen are utterly ridiculous.

Okay, here is something that drove me nuts. See, I like to go and re-do my chapters for my fanfictions, you know, to see how much my skills have improved. Problem is, I haven't found a way to replace a chapter with a new one, you know, shange the content WTF?

Actually, Vince, that should already be implemented. When you view an individual chapter, there should be a link near the bottom saying "Edit this chapter".

You mean like sort of a "Table of Contents" view? That'd be... interesting. Title, author, description, and list of chapters.

Ah, the 'select chapter' option seems pretty good I guess.
But if you're doing that, perhaps you could change it so that when you see a story, you can have a 'chapters: #' instead of having an entire list of all of the chapters, like when you view by a user's section. If people have really long stories with lots of chapters, that tends to smallen the scrollbar, and if you're just someone browsing through pictures of that person, it can get annoying.
I know that when searching FAC for stories, it'll only show the title, section, etc, but then it doesn't give any details on # of chapters, either.

I would like this to be a bit more like Fanfiction.net, I suppose, but they also make things just a bit more complicated than needed, so I like FAC's more. Smile

I think a comment count would be good too, so people can see how many comments a story has gotten, and so decide whether or not they think that's a good story to read, or otherwise. :)

More genres to the fanfic would also be greatly appreciated too, just so you know. Thanks denis.

Oh, and completely optional, but the font selection like the ones on fanfic.net and fictionpress are good, where you can select the type of font [just a few simple ones really] and more importantly, the sizes, as some people like it small, some people prefer big fonts. :3

Just a few suggestions. I'm really fine with how the fanfic section is now, but these are just tiny little improvements. Smile

I like the new chapter selection page, but hate the fact I have to use the back button after every chapter! Perhaps you could implement a feature that will allow you to skip to the next chapter? For example, you could Push a button at the bottom of the Chapter 3 page, and end up at the top of chapter 4! If there is something like this already and I overlooked it, please disregard this post with my apoligies.

how about when some 1 becomes part of fanart but cant submit his art because he has to validate his email. u tell them how!
thats what i'm stuck with. Crying or Very sad

by the way this site rocks the best 1 ive seen.
