I read from fallen and james about models, how skinny and pretty you have to be. Well that's not entirely true. I have seen some really pretty models who are not twigs. well probally because i was looking at more dark models but meh. One of my idols though, is a model. The wicked one...yeah she is awesome. I just felt like writing this because fallen was basing her opinion about sociaties figure of a model. the ones who sell products instead of showing the pure beauty of photography and the human body.

Ugh.

Ok, when people say model, they mean fashion model. Unless you qualify what you're saying with "life drawing model" or "art photography model" or "nude model" or "fetish model"...people are going to assume fashion model. And in that case you DO have to be tiny because that's how the clothes are made. You can be plus size, but that's dependent on what company makes/shows plus size clothes AND even then they're pretty damn small. No fatasses shuffling down the catwalk.

Catalogue models (lolz) can be old, chubby, ugly, whoever the designer makes clothes for. Hell, a hand or foot model can be the ugliest thing on the face of the earth as long as they have a nice hand to stick a ring on and snap a picture.

Life drawing/fetish/art photography models can be any size, but that's not what the word "model" has come to refer to. And people who are one of those things always qualify the word with their specification. There's one or two very very huge women on DA who do artistic nudes (ew) and are hired as models when a photographer wants a shot of a gigantic naked woman.

But saying "I'm gonna be a model" 999/1000 means strutting your ass down the catwalk in versace.

And...is that photo supposed to be pretty? Shocked

No offense to her, but you won't be seeing her like that in a nationally published magazine or ads or anything of the sort.
If you have a naturally beautiful face, you're in. If you have a face that could easily be made dead sexy with the use of make-up, you have a shot.
Her look does her no justice, nor does the make-up she's wearing.
What was the point of the picture?

And yeah she looks like she could be fun but clothes don't fit fun. They fit people.

She could be the coolest person in all of the known universe, but that picture doesn't give out that vibe.
For me, it gives out a sense of cluelessness, but without the amazement or wonder.

Yeah, that picture is pretty bland. If you want to be a model, not only do you have to have a certain eye-grabbing look, but you have to be good at body expression and language.

She looks like someone took a picture of her when she was spacing out.

That makeup is hideous.

And this looks like 90% of the BS stock photography on dA.

I made the mistake of thinking I could find dome good stock photos to use as a ref for anatomy practice there. D8

She looks sorta like the Mona Lisa... but more of a hooker. And with eyebrows.

I don't really like her pose. The position of her hands makes her look like she's uncertain of what she should be doing with them. I don't really know what she's doing with her feet, either.

And still all I can think is "eesh". A bit better than the first in regards to color and composition (though sideways pictures make me dizzy), but still pretty lacking.

That photographer isn't that great. The chick he keeps taking pictures of doesn't stand out at all. I don't really see why the second one is listed as having mature content, either. Maybe he's trying to attract attention, lol. The pictures aren't interesting. Or maybe it's because his subject just doesn't stand out. Whatever she's doing has been done a hundred million times before. ~~Or maybe I just think posing as a homg gawth!hooker is retarded and unoriginal.~~

this is a nice goth model a little on the revealing side but whatev
she is showing emotion and has not a whole lot of makeup on and the photography is nice

Ya. I generally don't like the way fashion models look. It's cool to watch em on the runway sometimes, but i'd take an artsy lolita chick over Paris Hilton any day.
