RE: Every non-Asian kid who wants to make anime when they grow up
You know that episode of Simpsons where Ralph says that when he grows up he wants to be a caterpillar? You are Ralph.
You are not Japanese. No matter how many Japanese comics you read and Japanese cartoons you watch and disjointed, Romanized Japanese phrases you memorize, you will never be Japanese.
Accept it.
And learn how to draw eyes that don't have five hundred sparkle marks in them. _________________

My eyes usually only have one catchlight, maybe two in larger portraits. Am I speshul? _________________ FAC |

If the eyes could still conceivably focus on something, you're in the clear. _________________

My characters are usually randomly looking towards the upper right of the picture plane for some odd reason. 8D BUT THEY HAVE PUPILS. Not random blobs of color.
Why DO animu artists make the pupils just a darker shade of the iris? It looks creepy and soulless. D: _________________ FAC |
I do that sometimes
I don't think that's quite what she meant. The pupil = hole in the eye, right? So when the pupil isn't black but some other color, that's really creepy and totally unrealistic, yeah.
The other reason why I don't like it when people color the pupils is because the cornea of the eye becomes cloudy when you die. 8D So if I'm not seeing a black pupil, I instantly think, "homg zombie." 8D |

Anything that looks unfocused ends up being creepy, that's the rule of thumb when it comes to eyes, I think. _________________

I could never make up a anime.I don't have the imangation and my japensee will probally suck cuz I'm so bad at English speech. I could NEVER stop loving anime. My sister who got me into the whole anime bussiness is starting to move anime out of her life.Shes doing more normal teenager things and that hurt me a lot.So I don't want to grow out of anime ever.Besides I love it to much too stop. One of my goals is to watch and know as much anime as I can possibailly can and read as much manga as possibile. So never am i'm going to stop loving anime. |

Nah, the only thing that would probally happen as far as me watching anime would be. a bit more tolerance. a while back i could take just about any anime and enjoy it, now its a bit more strict, dont get me wrong, i still like a varity of anime. but just not everything yhat comes out. |

I'll probably continue to watch anime until who knows how long. I can't say that I will or won't watch later, without a doubt, as I don't know what the future holds for me. Even if I were to stop for a while, if something brings back up anime later (like how a remake of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the cartoon, came out), I'd probably get right back into it. _________________ Fools aren't born; pretty girls make them in their spare time.

I was in an anime chat room a few years ago and someone asked me how old I was. I gave my age and she said, "Aren't you a little old for anime?"
I mentioned this to someone I knew and he said, "That sounds like a teenager. Like an American teenager."
Not to suggest all American teenagers think all anime is for children, of course, but it seemed like she thought anime was whatever it was she was watching on Saturday mornings. Although, now that I think of it, if I were, hypothetically, watching anime that came on Saturday mornings, "Who cares?" (I don't watch television at all, generally, because I didn't bother getting cable installed.) |
