Heh heh, my parents were shocked when we watched Princess Mononoke for the first time - they thought it should have been rated R. I guess they couldn't really believe that it was put out by the same studio that did My Neighbor Totoro. XD |

Well, I only got to see a chinese-subbed version of Nausicaa, so I understood practically nothing. It was okay, but I mainly only liked the parts up front and the setting. The characters seemed more loosely connected to each other.
My all-time favorite would have to be Princess Mononoke. The music, the plotline, the characters and their relationships... overall just a complete masterpiece.
I really want to watch Howl's Moving Castle, and I also saw Spirited away, but the characters there also held less appeal for me, and the plotline, though good, was rather random at times.
Say, for example, had it been a novel, things might've been explained better, and a more concrete feel for the happenings would've helped, but the movie just seemed to jump around somewhat.
And I honestly didn't mind the blood from Mononoke. The guy's head popping off was from a distance, and it wasn't THAT bloody. It was only proper for the atmosphere.
What's Grave of the Fireflies? Sounds cool. _________________ |
