Oh I'm not saying they can't sing. Except for a few pity contestants who made it much father than they should have, all of them have decent singing abilities. But why are they so great? What makes them better than the thousands of other people who could sing the same song just as well? That's what I don't understand about people who love teen pop. They're no more talented than thousands of other people. They're just more attractive. And in most cases luckier. Even when people like crappy bands that I don't particularly like, I still respect those musicians because they write their own stuff. That's something to respect. You know they deserve to be where they are because they did the work and wrote something original. There's nothing original about a teen pop "idol".
So-and-so who wrote a hit song is far more impressive than another person who just performed a hit song. It's much harder to do the creative work and performance end than it is to sing what you're told. If someone is a good writer, I understand them making it big because they expressed something better than most other people. Sure, there are still some better writers out there who never make it, but that's the way it goes.
My opinion is, karaoke singers belong in karaoke bars. And I love karaoke! But it's not something to be an "idol" for. To me it just seems cheap, the whole concept of the show. Saying the "idol" is just a pretty voice singing someone else's songs and that you can be an "idol" just by entering a contest on a whim. Forget the years of work, perfecting your music, building up a reputation, why not just enter a contest and be handed the deal? Yeah, that's great.
I know you probably weren't looking for such an argument when you mentioned American Idol, and I don't hold it against people who like the show... I just really really despise it. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

"The Emperor's New School." Ugh. First movie? Great! Loved it. Very funny. Second movie? Eh, not as good as the original, as usual for Disney, but it was alright for a sequel that was made way too long after the first one. Now a TV show? Uh, no. It's not even that funny! D= And not to mention it's pretty boring.
Yes. Well....Yes. |

Quite frankly I believe the following shows really are a waste of brain cells.
+American Idol
+Survivor
+The Bachelor
(I have an underlying theme here...I hope it's obvious)
+Extreme Home Makeover--but only because after a period of time, it loses the good neighbor factor of it and becomes a horrible advertizing fiesta. Not that it wasn't in the first place.
+Most of the shows on the Disney Channel.
+Yu-Gi-Oh
+Pokemon
+The OC (GAWD, it's so annoying. "Hey, I'm a rich prep finally getting busted for doing dumbass things. Life is SOOO unfair.)
+One Tree Hill
+Powerpuff Girls
And so on and so forth... _________________ What does it all MEAN? |

American idol is good for material, but i'm not a stand up comic, so there goes that.
in all seriousness, i really would feel alot better if MTV as a whole was never made. as well as half of the new crap that's been slithering it's way onto Cartoon network and nickelodeon. |

AI is terribly routine and predictable just like the pop music industry. No suprises there.
I used to not mind a couple MTV shows. Like the first Real World, while overdramatic, it was interesting 'cuz it was never done before. Now they have it down to a boring formula of "lets bring together the most impulsive college kids and put them all into one house together." Now I can't stand the Real World.
Also, has anyone else noticed all those rich girl faux-reality shows on MTV? Like Laguna Beach and 8th and Ocean and I just saw this new one called The Hills. Its like how interesting can the lives of spoiled rich girls be? I can only watch the same pitiful, overdramatic breakup so many ways before I realize they're all boring. Plus, the girls on that show all look a like and wear way too much eye makeup. |
clay looks like an elf
*starts laughing* I like elves. But not Clay.
Personally, I despise Family Guy, American Dad, The Simpsons, that kind of stuff. In fact, I have never seen a single episode of Family Guy or American Dad in my enire life.(I hate crude comedy) I also hate those drama shows, like the O.C, Windfall, anything like that. In fact, I'm probably the only one in my class who doesn't watch any of that stuff. _________________ It took me about ten minutes to defeat Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo from Super Smash Brothers Melee using Peach.
How long did it take my brother to defeat those characters using Yoshi? Two minutes.
I like to obsess over stuff. Here are all the things I'm obsessing over:
Song: Seize the Day by Default
Anime: D.Gray Man
Anime character(s): Kanda
Video Game: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Video Game character: Wolf O-Donnell from Star Fox Assault
OC: Ray Eclrida, copyright of me (duh!)

Basically all the shows on Cartoon Network, (everyone's going to hate me for saying this) SpongeBob, Life with Derek, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers, Maya and Migual, The One, and many more. _________________ I've got friends and family, food and a house.

Every lameass fake anime out there. Totally Spies, Martin Mysteries, Teen Titans, Avatar, all of them.
Teen Titans is as about American as concepts come. I don't care if the whole reaon the chose that style was to get anime fanbrats interested in Superhero comics again, I hate it. Martin Mysteries is the same way. It's based on a North Ameican comic but the creators decided that making it ANEEMAY was doing it a great Justice.
Totally Spies. What the hell. If you want cartoon Charlies Angels go watch Powerpuff Girls.
Avatar is not bad story wise, but I hate the way it looks. And I hate those "How to draw fake anime!" segments they run on Nickelodeon teaching a whole new generation of kidlets to draw like that. I can stand the show, but only if I'm not looking at it. _________________

Lets see....Lizzy Mcguire, My super Sweet Sixteen , spongeBob, Tom goes to the mayor, so on and so on...
Cartoon Network and Adult swim have the cheesiest shows now. They try to make funny stuff, but it's not funny!! They're as lame as those 2 networks are now!!
Super sweet sixteen is soooooo dumb. this is like what happens in every episode when they shop for the decorations and dresses:
Mom: Honey, this ones cute.
Bitchy slut: Ugh! shut up mom! this is my party and I want to wear this! *holds up a super-revealing prom dress*
Bitchy friends: OMG!! that is lyke so ttly kyute!!
Plus the girls in there are spoiled-rotten kids who call themselves "celebrities". They're also usually fat girls wearing mini skirts and have fake tans or fake hair. |

Big Brother.
I don't know if they have it in America, but dropping 14 or so people into a house with no access to the outside world is no fun to watch. Thousands of people enter themselves into it, and they pick the ones they know won't get on with the other people, or they pick two that'd fit each toehr perfectly.
People go mad, get pissed off at each other and get so bored with it they eg to be voted out in the Friday "Live Eviction"
Boredom.
I would watch it occasionally, and laugh as they realised how stupid they were entering. But this year, it's gone on for ages. They introduce new house mates every coiuple of weeks and move people to houses where they're on their own...
What's the point, when it started everyone was talking about it, now people only say "Did you see whoever crying"
"Yeah"
"I was creasin'"
"Init"
And the oncversation ends. Boredom. _________________ I came
