Fortunately, the term "j-rock" gives away its genre. It's rock. Hence, j-rock doesn't need its own category.
Do they even call it j-rock in Japan? That's a legitimate question.
There are way too many subgenres for every single genre listed. The poll is good for generalizations only.
You misspelled reggae.
I listen to whatever's on our local rock station, so it's a combination of rap-rock, funk-rock, alt. rock, prog. metal, thrash, hair metal, industrial, etc.

Now now. Don't beat the poor person up, because of all the endless genres out there.

What music do I like? All sorts...I can stand listening to country, a few slections of hip-hop. Tech-dance is always good to listen to when you want to get moving. There's also some type of R&B with a little more rock to it, that Lisa Loeb does. And I also play to her kind of music, but yes, with a little more rock.

Metal's just some angry people beating up their instruments, which are crying for mercy.
Metal's not really music, it's just their instruments screaming bloody murder.

Basically...I listen to whatever is on. If I named all the stuff I enjoy, I'd have named hundreds of genres and songs. Because, I don't go out looking for a certain genre...I look for songs I like.
Of the main categories with the most songs I listen to falling under them, I'd have to name these ones:

A Capella
Foreign Ballads
Ballads
Country/Classic Rock
Soundtracks
Ambient
Techno
Pop
Remixes of game themes/songs
Disney music
Rock
Opera
Classical music
Disco
Trance
Trip-Hop
Disco
Industrial

Before he counters, that's not really true.
Some metal sounds just like that. I can't deny that. It's true.
A lot of metal isn't like that at all, and it very much is music. Tool is music. Dream Theater is music. Kings X is music. They have melody, talent, and they don't murder and rape their instruments.
A lot of thrash is just what you described. Slayer's music is awful, especially since Kerry King can't solo without the entire band changing tempo and sound.
Artists such as those I've listed take talent into consideration and are hardly just noise.

The metal where all they do is scream and the guitars don't really add much except overdriven crap is the kind of metal a lot of people hate, and I don't blame 'em.
Unfortunately, there are quite a few bands like that. First one that comes to mind is Hatebreed. The guitars add a bit, but the vocals are just yelling, from what I recall listening to.

I like when I can actually understand what is being said in a song, and can realate to it. So, rock in general. I use to really like metal but I have lost my taste for it. Slipknot is great, in some of their songs you can actually understand what they are saying. Very Happy

I like mtal, but only because I like noise... A LOT of noise, (obviously). I like more calming music like celtic tunes, or idian/tribal instruments. I'm not into any single genra more then the other.

I like

Metal (not nessesarily "death"...)
Classic Rock
"Tribal"
Techno

I like the Spanish guitar....... Don't ask why...
