I want an explanation for this anime, because I can't find half the episodes anywhere except YouTube. And even then, the episodes are always being deleted because of 'copyright infringement', even if they have a disclaimer in the summary.

Anyway, I get that Celes or whatever her name is was a police woman that was turned into a vampire by Alucard (I think, I could be wrong...)

But..

Everything else makes no sense.

Explanation, pleese?

lol, LunaticCrow.

Hellsing is a really good and pretty popular anime. It's about Alucard, a vampire that works for the British Protestant Church, and fights other vampires, along with/sometimes the Catholic chuch in Scotland/Ireland.

Seras is a police girl he picked up and turned into a vampire.

The style has a catchy plotline, a lovely and very original style of art (that for once doesn't emphasize big eyes everywhere), and some really neat characters.

You can't but like it. Cool

[I suggest getting the books at your nearest bookstore, as the books are a bit more expensive [darkhorse] but tangible Hellsing in your hands will be worth it.] Very Happy

I dunno if I'd go so far as to say that Hellsing doesn't emphasize big eyes everywhere...

I know what you mean, though. Razz

Well, put it in comparison to, say, DNAngel.

The eyes are so much better. I  Hellsing style.

And by big eyes, I meant the glittery, over-highlighted typical anime eye style.
The eat-your-face eyes. Very Happy

I really like the Hellsing style too, I was just kidding because in Hellsing there are big eyeballs drawn on just about every surface that they can draw eyeballs on.....

Yes! Explain it some more! Zat vill make it funny! Razz

The mangaka for Hellsing is an awesome guy too. At anime vegas, a fan asked "Why does Seres' breast size keep getting bigger and bigger?" he responded "Do you not like women with big breasts?", or something like that. 8D My friend was so lucky to go! He talked about his favorite Hellsing related cosplays too-- the one he liked best was a Vlad, fully armored and everything. Surprised He gives cosplayers signed sketches too!

I love that guy, he's got such an offbeat sense of humour... and he's such a blatant perv. He's talking about that one character... Pip, or whatever, he's like "This character is from back when I used to draw porn manga!" and they always have those little bio blurbs about him at the back of his books, that are like "hobbies: eating, beating off" or something like that

Sure, it'd usually be creepy if random guys said stuff like that to you in real life, but when a horror comicbook illustrator says them they're just silly.

I think just the fact that he stuck an Alucard VS Bruce Willis dream sequence into his comic is a testament to his sense of humour.

Yeah, all that I'm reading makes it sound interesting...And it's nice to know that the manga artist is humorous. Does that mean that the manga gets humor sometimes or is it merely horror and action?

Dude, did you just skim over the whole Alucard VS Bruce Willis conversation or what? Razz

It has plenty of silly moments in it, though the latter volumes seem to be getting more serious.

In the hellsing books, I just love the scribbles on the inside front and back covers.
I'm still cracking up over the thing where Alucard was made into a gundam.
What's up with him and gundams too, anyway?? XD

Pabbit, there's some humor throughout the book, but it's mostly plotline and all. But blurbs at the back and occasional illustrations make me laugh out loud. Like the character explanations [which explain nothing Very Happy] at the end of book two. XD

Oh, ha! Whoops. I remember reading it, but I just didn't remember/process it. Aha, sounds fun.

The new OVA has some pretty funny stuff in it, as well. There's a scene where Seras is traveling through the ventilation shafts to get to Integra and other members of the Round Table; in the manga when Seras is trying to get through the hole in the ceiling into the room her boobs cause her to get stuck. In the OVA, one of the old men is talking and looks up and sees Seras' ass in the opening and goes, "Ass??" and then she falls, ass first, on his face.

What's OVA?

--~~__~~--

Yeah, so I read the first book at the bookstore. It was pretty good, but just okay for me. It just bugged a lot - the proportions of the arms and shtuff. I liked the author's notes after the manga, though. Pretty funny.

Really? I always thought the proportions were pretty good. Maybe a TINY bit stretched, but otherwise... I love the style. I love how so... unanime and so different it is. >>;

Well, it is still an anime style, but it doesn't stress beauty or perfect figures, so I really like it. Very Happy

Just - the arms. The elbow should be at the hips and the rest should go down to the middle and a little past the mid-thigh. Eyes were lopsided sometimes.

But you're right. It was nice to see something not as anime-ish. I liked the whole Bonnie & Clyde deal in the first book.

OVA = Origonal video anime. What happened was, they did an anime for TV for it, which started out with the same storyline but then went on it's own track and ended up with some vampire from Africa . . . it was kinda weird. An OVA is an anime that goes straight to video - they also usually have much better animation quality.

And yeah, the proportions bothered me at first, too. O_o But I grew up reading Sailor Moon, where occasionally their legs would be at least three times the length of their torsos or - true story- they would have, like, the upper arm, an elbow, another length of arm, another elbow, and then the forearm, wrist hand . . . so Hellsing wasn't too hard to ajust to. ^_^

I'm not exactly an Anime fan, because I don't really watch any of it anymore. Just draw it. =P

But that was something I was curious about too. Because I only knew of the non-anime Van Helsing. Didn't really know there was an anime. Nice to know though I guess. xD;
