Best - The Man who sold the world (Nirvana covered... uh.. forget his name)
Worst - "heart Shaped box" (Evanessence covered Nirvana. Sucked)
Its bowie's and its a really good cover too, although I think that evanescense's cover wasn't that bad.... just not as grungy as the original.... _________________

Sorry, but I think Korn did a good job with it. First of all, they put them all togehter so the flow is steady and constant. Second of all, they made it sound just as disturbing and more "in your face".
I mean, they actually did the solo and it's been re-done so that younger people will get into Pink Floyd. All they did was hard-rock it.
Probably one of Korn's best works, outside of "Blind".
I think that a really awesome cover is "Beautiful World" by RATM, originally done by DEVO. It's actually very powerful the way Rage plays it.
Worst cover, in my opinion, is also by Rage. "How I Could Just Kill A Man" without Cypress Hill just doesn't cut it. de la Rocha doesn't have the voice to tackle it alone. |

Another terrible cover is These Boots Are Made For Walkin' with Jessica Simpson covering Nancy Sinatra. The original was cool and had so much attitude, but Jessica Simpson's version just sucked. And it was a hit because people my age have crap taste in music. _________________ |

One could agree that it is in fact one of korns best songs that's from that perspective
One could say they did it out of respect, one could say they wanted to make the song their own.
When all of the songs were made from "The Wall" they were all made to interpret different events of what's going on in Pink's Life (The Wall (movie)
Brick in the wall Part 1- Pink's father is dead and has returned home in a coffin
Bick in the wall pt2.- Describes what most kids oppinions are of school
Brick in the wall pt3.- describes how pink feels at the state of the moment
Korn merely took the songs and made them their own sure you can say Korn's version is better and everything, but most people whom are "into" rock roll meaning they can tell you about bill haley and the comets to a band like trapt. Most will if not all say the same thing to me, and that would be that Pink Floyds ways of executing their songs are far more complex than quick guitar playing and fast drumming.
Gilmour's talented solo in brick in the wall p.2 far surpasses any of them.
Perhaps it could be my ovrall oppinion of metal just not into it, singing notes is actually harder than screaming (Unless of course you've achieved falsetto then you just have fun).
Overall my oppinion if you agree I dont care. If you disagree I don't care just stating my overview of it.
(however if they were trying (which I doubt) is to get kids listening to Pink Floyd then kudos to them) |

Covers are best done if they're re-done for the band who's covering the song. I think Korn gave it a much darker and ominous sound which appealed to me.
I think that if Korn had covered it exactly the way Floyd played it, Floyd's influence wouldn't have shown through. Floyd was creative times 10000. Korn probably wanted to put forth their creativity into the song so as to compliment Floyd's creativity.
Covers can be a bitch, though. My band covered 4 songs for our very first show. "Spoonman", "A Certain Shade of Green", "Hey Joe" and "Savin' Me".
"Savin' Me" lost us about half the crowd. We gave our own twists to every song except for that one and we definitely should have added shit to it. |

As a huge Bowie fan, I cant say that was one of my favorites. Something about the way kurt sang it doesn't appel to me. |
