Like, lets say someone didn't want to draw a... dog, for instance. But a dog is supposed to be in the picture. So they cut out a picture of a real dog, and paste it in the picture they drew. Is that allowed?

I think it might be okay.......... You are talking about attaching the real image(The reference, as you could call it) to the original picture they drew.... Then it shows what they used as a reference..... I would think it would be fine... But I'm not a mod or site helper or anything, so I don't know if this is true or not...

In general, if the photography is included alongside some form of drawing, painting, etc., then it should not be a problem. The rule against photography applies to photography as an art form itself, since FAC is not a photo site.

I was wondering about this a short while ago as well (contemplated using a photo as a background for one of my pics.....didn't get to it because I was, and still am, a) lazy and b) inept - _ -;;;; I'm still learning how to work my new scanner....)

I've done that with some of my Whose Line? fanart in which I drew some of the cast members as dogs, but included a photo of them in the background. Like this for example.
