SYSTEM OF A DOWN ROCKS! My favorite band member? I like Serj and Daron the same. Daron has a great rang with his voice, and his ability to play guitar is unreasonably GREAT! He is one of the best guitarists I've ever heard! And Serj... Wow.... He is a great singer as well.

So tell me what you people think! And if you've come here to post and say "aw, system of a down is a sucky band!" Then get out of my forum topic! This is for SOAD fans only! Very Happy

Don't preticuraly like any of the band members ,and the only song I truly like is Chop Souey. Other then that there just a bunch of ball biters cashing in on the "death metal" "scream metal" "Super shread" movement, Like 3 Days Grace or Panic at the disco or Fallout boy are cashing in on the emo scene.

Let me correct you on ne thing. System of a Down is what they call "Indutrial metal". They have their own sound. I can't think of any one of their songs that sound like any other bands music. They are their own band. Oh, and system isn't a bunch of emos. They're drug addicts. Very Happy

And yes, Panic! at the Disco is stupid. And yes I'm sure 3 DG is abunch of emos. They just have a good music. Not good messages. They're creepy I'll admit. But it's my broher's fault I listen to them.

Industrial metal, they sound like every other industrial metal band. Go to myspace, or Limewire, select industrial on there genre selector area, and you'll find a million other bands that sound just like them.

System isn't my favorite band, although I enjoy Spiders and ATWA.
I strongly dislike their newer stuff. Daron ruined it.
I'm sorry, but "the most lonliest day of my life" is some utter crap. His megalomaniacal approach to Hypnotize and Mesmerise really sickens me.
Also, they're awful live. They're not tight as a band. I've heard them play Prison Song live and....it just fell apart.

Nope.
SOAD are by no means the best at anything. Allow me to prove this.
Live, they fall apart like Jenga towers. They don't remember where to come in, which really defeats the purpose of being a "math metal" band. The time signatures and tempo changes are supposed to be memorized until it is ideal and perfect. I have listened to emo bands that are far more technically proficient.
Guitar tone is awful.
Daron's lyrics and vocals are lacking. I'm sorry. "the most lonliest day of my life"?
If the day is the lonliest, then there is no need for the word "most". It is directly implied in the word "lonliest". His voice isn't exactly the greatest, but I've heard worse.
Serj's vocals are enhanced. Yes. I said it. If he ever goes off key during a concert, that would be why. Apparently, it can be done for live performances.
It's either that or he just has a bunch of bad days.
Shavo isn't a bassist. Shavo is a guitarist. Shavo sucks at bass. Live performances sadly prove that statement. Ever wonder why Daron had to play most of the basslines on Mesmerize and Hypnotize?
Their drummer is possibly the best of the bunch, and even he gets off tempo and off beat during live performances. If you don't think live performances count, then you enjoy whatever you wanna enjoy. The live show tells you more than those little discs ever will.
Yeah, sorry bro. Apparently your age hinders you from listening to the better stuff, and understanding the importance of expressing opinions.

I'm the lyricist for a band, as well as the principle songwriter, lead guitarist, and vocalist.
Guess what, it's not hard to write acceptable material.
If you don't care about live performances, then you don't know the true sound of the band. I'm sorry, but you miss out on everything that really makes the band a BAND. This includes:
- staying in tempo TOGETHER
- staying in time TOGETHER
- complimenting each other with basslines, guitar lines, vocals, and drumming
- remembering lyrics
- overall, the true, raw, unproduced sound of the band
It defines the band, and you can't even try to tell me otherwise.

I think most young people just aren't educated about what production really is. There used to be such a status symbol in who was producing your album (and still is to some degree, but not as much). Except instead of getting the mix right, now it's all about who can polish the recordings and splice them together to sound generally better than the band can play.

...Maybe kids today just think that the CD is a straight recording of how the group sounds. Confused

Thus the confusion and misunderstanding that the majority of current mainstream acts are half created in the computer.

What's sad is that even live albums are being fixed up these days. They have to in order to maintain that fake image of the group. My favorite is when they add cheering sounds to fill in the audience. Laughing

(not that this is only new crappy groups...old crappy groups do it too. KISS doesn't have a single genuine live album. If I remember, one of them isn't even live. lolz)
